· SPORTS VILLAGE OF CALLAO & STADIUM OF SAN MARCOS ·
Venues for the Lima 2019 Pan & Para American Games Client: Lima 2019
Location: Lima, Perú
Contractor: Sacyr-Saceem Budget: 165 m S/, £38.2 m Design Consultant: Pattern Design
Status: Built
·T
he projects consist of the design and construction of a new sports centre and the remodelling and expansion of the Miguel Grau Coliseum on the Regional Sports Village of Callao, as well as the design and refurbishment of the football stadium of the National University of San Marcos. The Polideportivo presents an unparalleled opportunity to construct a recognisable landmark for Callao. The lively streets of Callao and the vibrant spirit of their inhabitants are the inspirations for an open and inviting building that is used by elite competitors and the local community. The 17,600 m2 sports centre will include competition and warm up areas and will accommodate 6,100 spectators. It will host the volleyball, taekwondo and Para-taekwondo competitions during the Games, and it will become the new home for the Peruvian National Volleyball Team in the Legacy mode, as well as be used for a wide variety of special events. The architectural design of the Coliseo is based on sympathetically remodelling the existing building within the context of the Callao Cluster. During the Games, the Coliseo will be a world-class facility for wrestling, boxing and the Paralympic sport – Goalball with a capacity of 2,400 seats. After the Games, it will revert to a much-improved multisports arena where the Peruvian Basketball Federation and Peruvian Volleyball Federation are both headquartered. The refurbishment of the existing Estadio San Marcos provides an opportunity to bring new life and use to a venue that no longer met the needs of its users. During the Games, the Estadio will be used for international-level (FIFA) football. It will accommodate 33,000 spectators, the needs of athletes, FIFA, Media and Broadcasters. In Legacy, the Estadio can host sub 17 matches, concert and religious events. Improvements to the players changing areas, the field of play surfaces, the tribune seating arrangement, and new stairs that connect the tribunes to the field of play, will make the building functional for a range of different uses.

“L
a Vega de Velez-Malaga has maintained its natural value thanks to the continued exploitation of its agricultural resources, sustained by a network of infrastructures that gives this territory a cultural value. The incorporation of high-density hotel accommodation equipment should not alter this fragile ecosystem; with his proposal, Alejandro does not pretend that this sensitive vision conditions it and does not renounce to achieve a project that combines this approach to the landscape with a dense, effective, accurate solution and competitive strategies in this sector; which shows ample capacity to face the world of work. These qualities of great professionalism, is shown in all aspects of the work, both at the design level and in the technical and material solutions; all conditioned by an ecological reading of the project. From touching the ground with the minimum elements hanging the building of a curved beam of wood, material with which the building is constructed, until introducing the water cycle of the hotel in the process of landscape for the plantation of the orchards. All with an exhaustive work of calculation that verifies its operation and that Alejandro needs to sustain his proposal. The building is functionally clear, composed of hybrid uses that allows not only to serve the hosted public, but it is also a building for the city; its position, rotundity and light appearance, part of a simple organization, looking for the best positions for the entire program. The operation is exceptional, crossing the accesses and circuits of workers and tourists without coming to meet. And all this, shown in a simple and apparent naturalness, making believe that architecture can be an easy task” Diego Jiménez | djarquitectura

he idea of this Interpretation Centre to welcome visitors to the ruins of Bobastro is based on a journey through the landscape that progressively allows its knowledge and discovery from the general to the particular. In this way, a series of pieces that work as attractive elements and drivers of the visitor are placed by establishing visual links along the lake. The thematic variety of these pieces aims to create a certain dynamism by starting from the exhibition of the surroundings to conclude showing a precise description of the Basilica.

· LANDSCAPE WAGROWEC · Promenade “3+1” by the lake
Autor: Alejandro Rubio
Location: Wagroviec, Poland
Purpose: Contest- Finalist
Date: December, 2013
·T
he idea behind this proposal is based on introducing in the promenade through the lake the sum of four paths of different nature. The intention is to adapt each path to the speed that each type of user needs to go trough of it. Cyclists, athletes, parents with their children, the elderly or disabled can feel safe. Each path has its material and its light marks that differentiate them, preventing them from interrupting each other. Another proposal is the “Invisible path” that allows users a direct contact with the lake by being able to walk on it with water up to the ankles. In winter this path can be used to skate on ice. Throughout the tour, visitors can make use of facilities such as cafeterias, children’s play area, reading and rest areas, swimming and recreation area; all accompanied by a selection of plants and flowers for each path that invite you to explore it.

· COVER & VOID ·
Partial Faculty reformation

Purpose: Ideas Contest

he main concern at the time of approaching the project has been the connection with the basement, a space that is currently completely detached from the school and that lacks any attraction to go down to it. The proposed solution is to create a parallel with the hall of the school, a space with double height that works and that could be considered the most iconic space of it. Therefore, it is proposed to create a gap, of considerable dimensions, in the current cafeteria area that would connect the basement with this space and at the same time allow the necessary light to enter the new leisure room. The vacuum, as a spatial connection and relationship, integrates the ground floor and basement through the transition of environments and visual relationship. At the same time, the roof dilutes the elevation changes creating a changing and dynamic environment.

· RUMBO A LA TEMPESTAD ·
Ephemeral architecture | Noche en Blanco 2015

he installation proposed by the School of Architecture of Malaga in the Noche en Blanco 2015, “Rumbo a la tempestad”, emerges from a reflection on the transcendence of marine storms in navigation, manifesting clearly in the mutant character of the sea, capable of bending any route map or turn a simple boat ride into a whole challenging adventure. A trip would not make sense without a mission, something to discover, a treasure. The adventurer who decides to start it will be equipped at the beginning with a small bottle, whose usefulness will be discovered throughout the trip. During this voyage the intrepid sailors will face the nature of a storm. At the beginning, there is the calm and serene course and, little by little, the waves begin to wake up and will go wrapping and guiding the adventurer almost at his mercy. [...] In the end, the adventurer will have as a sample of its value a bottle with the essences of its course, which can be preserved through a piece of cork given to seal its content and with it, its experience. this element can be hung by showing the world its courage and ambition.
