More Music for Examining and Buying Merchandise for any instrument or group of instruments and recorded electronics version in C
Alejandro Rutty, 2012
Duration, 8 minutes
ARM - R47
Performance options: 1) Solo instrument and recorded electronics. In this case, the performer should play based on the timings indicated at the beginning of each section. Timings are approximate 2) Any group of instrument and recorded electronics. In this case, players can play in unison, octaves, in turns, or make any other arrangement excluding polyphony It would be possible for some instruments to add sounds during the written-out sections as long as no new pitches are involved In all cases, octaves and register can be altered for technical or expressive reasons. Long-note durations are approximate. The recorded electronics hint at altering intonation. Players could explore intonation, especially if playing the solo version. The live instruments may be amplified if desired.
More Music for Examining and Buying Merchandise, is a continuation of Music for Examining and Buying Merchandise, for alto saxophone, piano and vibraphone (includes samples from a live recording as performed by Steve Stusek, Kristopher Keeton and Inara Zandmane). These are the notes of the first piece of this series Music for Examining and Buying Merchandise: Music for examining and buying merchandise, or shopping, is usually played in the background, where music is designed to encourage spending. As such, the purpose of music is mood regulation and behavior control. This piece, which has as its only purpose to be listened to, paraphrases -from some distance- some of the features of music designed for mood-control.
