TYPE

ITERATION 1 Bloks

Much like Tetris, these letter forms are buildable and stackable. Hard to read but easy to play with, the average joe wont see a single letter

Rules

This type face was restricted to 2 columns with no breaks in the bars, resulting in the ability to either create some features, or none at all.

Thoughts

At first i felt the blocks frustrating, but then i realized the forms werent meant to be legible and went with it.

ITERATION 2 Miner

This type face is very blocky but more defined, with an overall look that resembles minecraft.

Rules

The grid was set up as 4 columns, and breaks were allowed. I made sure to use gaps of the same size in ltters with holes, and used a consistent stroke for all letters.

Thoughts

Although i felt they were much more legible, after completing iteration 1, i felt they were lacking in the stylistic qualities the previous had.

ITERATION 3 Pix

The grid in this iteration was meant to bridge the gap between my 1st and second iteration, to ad style to a more legible form

Rules

This grid was 3 columns with breaks, i made sure to use a similar aesthetic and continuos spacing throughout the letter forms

Thoughts

I definitly felt i had reached a happy medium, with the exception of a few minor flaws and some rule bending here and there, i think it put the two together nicely.

3 Column Grid

ITERATION 4 Pine

This 5 triangle grid creates a hectic grid that makes a pine tree look.

Rules

This grid was created 5 triangles wide and 6 triangles high, i only used the upside down triangles on defining features.

Thoughts

I still see this as my weakest set, as i did while i was working on it, it is too inconsistent and i think the grid has a lot to do with that.

Triangle Grid

ITERATION 5 Tile

Resembling bathroom tiles, these letter forms are mad up of diamonds and stretched hexagons.

Rules

I made sure all of the characters were the same hight and width, as well as using a comon theme among their diagonals. All letters have one unit of space on either side.

Thoughts

The strongest of the 6 iterations, this one follows specific guidlines and is coherant.

ITERATION 6 Baby Tile

The bathroom tiles had babys, and here they are.

Rules

This grid is the same as the last iteration however i had to follow a different set of rules. The small characters are the same height and tall ones are as tall as capitals.

Thoughts

Not as strong as the last iteration but still follows a set of rules pretty closely, some rules had to be broken to make the letter form work, but otherwise they are uniform.
