PROJECT LAYOUTS Arrival / departure
1 The sites are modulated by
a 9x9 grid grid. The necessary portion will be chosen depending on the square meters that each children’s garden will have.

2 The project is defined by a
central space which program is a playground and central circulation. Its structure is constituted by wooden columns in the vertices of the grid.
3 Bathrooms, kitchen and ad-
ministration areas are located on the perimeter of the kindergarten, giving privacy and security to the spaces where the children inhabit.

SOUTHERN METROPOLITAN HEALTH SERVICE
Emergency Administration offices
The Buin and Paine’s public health centers and patients belong to the Southern Metropolitan Region Health Service. The most complex health centre of this area is the Barros Luco Hospital, all seriously ill patients and some medical examinations are derivative to this hospital. The current hospital is located in the urban area of Buin very close to the central square, in its surroundings there are a huge variety of shops (restaurants, cafeterias, hardware stores, clothing stores, etc). As well as stores related to health (optical, kinesiological, dental centers, etc.)
San Luis Hospital Main Square Commerce Health centre Panamerican highway
Machine room
Public circulation (outpatients, families, visitors) Close circulation (inpatient, hospital staff)
1
Kinesiology is located in the back of the hospital, near the service area. To enter that unit, patients have to go through the entire hospital and the storage area, or go around the block by a narrow pedestrian path.
2
The dining room location isolates the pediatric unit from the inpatient department and creates a cross circulation between pediatric patients and hospital workers going to the dining room.
3
The security zone, which is also the green area of the hospital, is currently full of containers that function as administrative offices, if a patient has to go to radiology will have to go through the corridor of these offices.
4
There is a cross between outpatients, hospitalized patients and those that have to do radiology exams. The San Luis Hospital has been forced to expand irregularly due to the lack of space and infrastructure. The streets around are not wide enough to contain the vehicular traffic. As conclusion of the diagnosis, the best decision is relocating de new hospital.

CENTRAL PLAZA
The central plaza is the hospital’s main space and circulation. It brings back the urban character of the San Luis Hospital, furthermore of being a recreation and green area which helps Buin with its lack of recreation zones. The hospital back entrance is a green terrace designed for the pedestrians who come by bus or train from Buin and Paine that can’t come in through the highway.

CO-HOUSING COMPLEX OBJECTIVES Improve the economy and create strong communities through commerce, mixed-use housing, and urban farms. The Co-Housing Complex takes those characteristics and focuses on the site’s largest age range, young adults between 20-25 years old. The aim is that the residents who work in the urban farm can sell its yield in farms markets and use it as a food provider for the cafes and restaurants, provide healthy food for the neighborhood, and offer the community job positions near home. Thus, achieve a circular economy.
FEATURES affordable mid-height modern houses primarily designed for co-housing. It has an elevated interior plaza, middle courtyards, a commercial plaza including the former church renovated into a restaurant and office, cafés, and commerce on its edges related to community services and the urban farm. The orientation of the houses is towards the green interior courtyard. This space aims to promote the feeling of community by making neighbors meeting with each other, achieving a cohesive community, also increasing security through passive surveillance.
TYPOLOGIES 2 types of housing typologies settled in modern-looking townhouses. The first one consists of a two-story house, where its first floor is for common spaces and a private terrace with a small green area, and the second floor is for bedrooms and bathrooms. The house has room for 6 people in total. It could be for 3 young couples or 2 young families with babies or young children. The second has one floor, it has south orientation. It has an accesible desing for people with disabilities or in wheelchairs, this typolgy has room for 4 people in total. It could be for 2 young couples or 1 young family with babies or young children. The project design is about the well-being and comfort of people, the houses have light colors and warm materials, large windows with cross ventilation, lots of sunlight due to its south orientation and green and accessible common spaces.
