CORE- SENIOR THESIS
CORE IS A JOURNEY TO ENLIGHTENMENT AND MINDFULNESS, TRIGGERED BY THE NATURAL ELEMENTS. THE PURPOSE IS TO RECONNECT MIND AND BODY BACK TO ITS ROOTS, THE EARTH. THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF MEDITATION, A CONCRETE CONNECTION IS CREATED BETWEEN MIND AND NATURE. SACRED GEOMETRY INFLUENCES GEOMETRIC SILHOUETTES AND THE EARTH IS INTERPRETED IN THE RAWNESS OF THE FABRIC. RECONNECTING TO OUR ROOTS RAISES THE DESIRE TO TAKE CARE OF OUR HOME AND THE AWARENESS OF SUSTAINABILITY. CORE IS AN INNOVATIVE, ELEGANT, AND BOLD COLLECTION MADE CONSCIENTIOUSLY AND SUSTAINABLY.
Almost 100% of the collection is made out of cork fabric, a highly underestimated, luxurious material.
CORK PROPERTIES -Light: 50% of its volume is air -Elastic: Can be compressed and it will always expand back to its original shape -Impermeable to liquid and gases -Fire resistant -High abrasion resistant: wont scratch with friction -Hypoallergenic does not absorb dust
Cork Oak Trees absorb CO2 gases and so do cork products, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions

“En mi viejo San Juan, cuantos sueños forme”
Colorful Streets, Colorful History Puerto Rico’s rich culture originates from a colorful background. 600 years before Puerto Rico was a U.S. territory, it was inhabited by local natives known as Tainos. Spain made Puerto Rico their colony for 500 years, bringing African slaves with them to the island. The blend of all these cultures is seen in the quaint streets of Old San Juan that remain untouched centuries later.
Our multicultural background makes for a very diverse race. Puerto Ricans don’t have a certain look. The range in characteristics makes for one of the most diverse races on Earth.
“Los colores de mi tierra, or the colors of my country, not only speaks for the colorful streets of Old San Juan, but for the colors of our skin, our eyes, our hair... The endless possibilities make for some truly beautiful people, inside and out.

TOPOGRAPHIC RELIEF
Inspired by the flow and folds of the earth, Topographic Relief is caused by the movement of the Earth that make rocks be displaced because of the stress put upon them. This natural phenomenon create beautiful organic shapes on the Earth, that look soft to the eye, but are hard to the touch. Exploratory techniques are used to create new textiles out of natural materials such as raw silk, cork, and veg tan leather. Silhouettes are taken from the organic movement found on the fabric patterns and on Earth, to mimic the soft and hard concept, creating a beautiful contradiction.
