here is one question that I get asked often. I want to share it with you because you may be able to relate or know someone that can relate to this.
“Kim, I want to ask you a question about my indecisiveness. I’m great at seeing opportunities for others and at times for myself, but how do I know which opportunities to take? How do I know which ones will really help my business or grow my reach? I don’t want to be steered off course, and yet, I want to make sure I’m leaving no stone unturned.”
One common and shared trait by all successful people is the ability to make swift decisions. It is a trait that you should adapt and hone so that you can own your “yes” and own your “no”. What this means for you is you learn how to recognize which opportunities to take advantage of and which to say no too quickly and with confidence. This truly empowers you as an entrepreneur. I would like to share with you a process I use to assist me in evaluating opportunities and weighing my options. It is a system that is simple to use and works for me and my clients. It’s a series of four questions to ask yourself about every opportunity. Is this something I want to be, do or have? Is being, doing or having this taking me closer to my goal? Is being, doing or having this in alignment with my purpose? Does being, doing or having this negatively impact anyone in my life or community? Thrive At Sales Calls With Your Potential Clients by Caterina Rando, MA, MCC

aving a sales call process that you use consistently and continue to upgrade with each sales conversation will make you more and more effective at selling. Start by acknowledging your potential client for their interest, then ask them what prompted their interest, what challenges they want support for, then ask them if they would like to hear how you can serve them and then tell them. Here is a simplified version of my Thrive at Sales Calls Success Formula I teach my clients to increase their sales and gain more clients: 1. Acknowledge the individual and tell him/her you would really like to work with them. 2. Ask for permission to take some time to chat with them or make a phone date. 3. Ask them what results they are looking for.

4. Tell them what you heard them say and tell them how you think you can help. 5. Ask if these things sound good to them and is in fact what they are looking for. 6. Ask for permission to share how you work with your clients. 7. Share features/investment/ results they can expect and if applicable the transformation they will receive. 8. Ask how this sounds to them or what their thoughts about arewhat you have shared. 9. Address any concerns and answer any questions. 10. Be willing to dance through objections. Be really engaged and honest here. 11. Ask if they have any additional questions and address them. 12. Ask if they would like to get started.

Recently, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter have all unveiled updates for cover photos allowing for more space for images. The social media redesigns encourage you to tell your story through images. Research confirms that up to 80% of content can be conveyed through images in less time than traditional text. Couple that with the fact that between 60-75% of the public identify themselves as visual learners. Thanks to APPS and computer programs, there are a multitude of resources available to help you on this journey. A popular favorite is www.canva.com, as it has 18 templates along with custom dimensions making it user friendly! CANVA enables you to create custom designs by providing layouts, text, backgrounds as well as the option to upload your own Images. 1. Select a template to create a social media design for (Facebook Cover – Twitter Header – etc.) a. If You need a new LinkedIn cover photo select “custom dimensions”. The new cover is 1400 x 425 Pixels (4MB) 2. Select Images, which speak to your skills and expertise. a. Canva has stock images for only $1.00 per image b. Use images that you own or purchase ones from Canva.

Video Killed The Radio Star by Linda Cotter

o you have video on your website? Do you appear anywhere on You Tube, Vimeo or Bing Video? If you answered no to these questions, you need to ask yourself, why not? Without video, you are forsaking the emotional immediacy only video can offer. In order to invest in you, visitors need to experience you, not just your sales copy.
Video is an easy and affordable way to drive traffic to your website. It can also establish your expertise, educate your visitors, provide testimonials and promote a special event. How you use it is up to you. Here are a few suggestions to keep you on the right track. 1. Make it relevant. Keep it short. Online videos generally receive about 90 seconds of visitor attention; keep your video under five minutes. Longer discussions can be broken into multiple videos. A video posted once a week is enough to keep visitors coming back to your site. Allow people to embed your videos on their websites as well. 2. Words are key. Take the time to select the right keywords for your market. Keywords will assist in creating a title for your video as well as providing effective tags and descriptions. In addition, providing a transcript of your video is good for SEO.

3. Submit a video sitemap. This task can be done using a sitemap generator and Google Webmaster Tools. A video sitemap helps direct potential clients to your website specifically, not just your video; it also allows you to have a video thumbnail on the search engine results page.

1. How/why did you begin your business?
I
can still remember the day it hit me: Who was I and what was I going to do with the rest of my life? I had been a stay-at-home mom for 24 years, and my youngest was in college. I had just resigned from a position on the Lake Travis School Board, where I had served for nine years, four as Board President, and my mother, who had been living close by in failing health, had passed away. I was no longer needed as a mother, caregiver or school board trustee. I knew I had many “good years” left, and I wanted to do something that made a difference in the world while being productive and fulfilled. But I was paralyzed with fear as I sat at my computer, searching for a new identity and feeling like I had nothing to offer to the world. As I contemplated my next steps, I searched for online resources for women over 50. The world hadn’t yet embraced the value of Baby Boomer Women, and I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I created my own! On February 1, 2010, I launched FlourishOver50.com as a lifestyle resource for women over 50, and I began connecting with women all over the world who were searching for information and inspiration for life after 50. At the end of the first year, I had been so focused on generating traffic and building my Google® ranking that I lost track of what I was doing and why. Even though the site had over 50,000 visits a month, I wasn’t sure I was on the right track. I took a break, did some soul-searching and praying, and heard from God that I was limiting myself by staying behind my computer. The website was to be only one tool in how I reached women who were wanting something better in midlife and beyond. In the spring of 2011, I became a Certified Dream Coach®, participated in my first collaborative book as an author, and wrote my own coaching program, now called The Reinvention Road Trip. My life was re-energized, and I began living with a renewed focus and a grander vision than I ever would have imagined before I began my journey. Earlier this year, I once again received a “God download” and stepped into a new broader plan with The Flourishing Life. I became a Certified Christian Life Purpose Coach®, and now offer coaching, programs and resources for an abundant life, faith and career for women of all ages. As I live out my own life purpose “to inspire and equip women to flourish from the inside out,” I continue to grow personally and professionally, and look to the future with excitement about where my journey will take me next!

2. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it? I have been a lifelong perfectionist, which has been both a blessing and a curse in becoming an entrepreneur. My brand is impeccable and I have programs and products that are unique and well-designed, but I have learned the hard way to let go of perfect and strive for good enough. I now embrace my authentic self, and know that I have extreme value just as I am. Being authentic and vulnerable has been liberating! Plus, it has helped me relate to my community and my clients better, as most women have this same challenge. 3. How do you define SUCCESS? When I first began with Flourish Over 50, I measured my success by my Google® ranking. Being on the first page was the ultimate goal so I could eventually have sponsors and advertisers. As I connected at a deeper level with women, I realized that it’s not about the numbers, but instead it’s really all about changing the lives of women, from the inside out. Now, my success is found in being part of a client’s “aha moment” when she connects with her life’s purpose, or when she finds freedom from the heavy baggage that is keeping her from reaching her full potential. When I speak, if my message makes a difference in the life of even one person, then I am a success. In the end, my true success is in fulfilling God’s purpose for my life, never losing faith and always letting my brilliance shine as a reflection of His grace. 4. If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? I cannot achieve success with do-it-yourself programs! I was afraid to invest in myself early on, so I would purchase the self-study version of a system thinking I would be able to implement it and grow my business. What I have learned is that, for a solid foundation and sustained growth, having a coach or mentor is absolutely essential. It is when I have had the ongoing support and accountability of a coach that I have made the greatest strides. It took way too long for me to acknowledge that. Life is a team sport! We must ask for help, knowing that the investment will be returned many-fold. 5. What makes you an innovative woman? I love the Latin root of innovate, ”innovare,” which means to renew or make new. I can’t think of a better word to describe my reinvention journey over the past four years. When faced with paralyzing fear, I took a giant leap out of my comfort zone and did something totally new as I launched FlourishOver50.com. Continuing to “renew” my vision, I became a life purpose coach, professional speaker and author. At each new stage, I have allowed myself to dream big, step out in faith and become a better version of myself. Another important aspect of my “innovative” persona is my role in guiding other women to become renewed and refocused in midlife. So often, someone will come to me saying she feels stuck, depressed, flat, frustrated or invisible (and sometimes all of the above!). I am blessed and honored to come alongside as her coach and cheerleader, leading her to a process to become vibrant and confident about her future. 1. How/why did you begin your business? I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and as a young girl my dream was to own my own business one day. I remember writing a scholarship essay in high school describing the business that I wanted. At that time it was going to be an accounting firm. So, I chose to go to college and get a “good” job because that was the road to happiness and success, so it appeared. That road led me to Goldman Sachs where I was a part of a team that raised over $1 billion dollars and onto other Fortune 500 companies where I helped them make millions of dollars. Deep inside, my dream was still alive while I chose the world’s roadmap to success. With each layoff and opportunity that I was denied in my professional career, I begin to shrink and hide behind not being good enough. I hid my intellect, my personality, my beauty and everything I was created to do behind what others thought I should do and be. In my attempt to fit in, be good enough and be who others wanted me to be I lost sight of who God created me to be. I made a decision that I was no longer going to hide. But instead I was going to live my dreams and use the gifts that God gave me to help entrepreneurs build profitable businesses by teaching them the strategies I learned while helping others build their dreams. 2. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it? My biggest challenge has been learning to manage my fears as I grow and expand my life and my business. In the process, I’ve learned that fear doesn’t go away. But I’ve found a surefire way to manage it - God. I started running half marathons a few years ago and my third half marathon by far has been one of the most challenging and rewarding. The weather was less than ideal. It was cold and rainy. The cold I’m okay with but the rain I’d never trained or even prepared for. As I completed Mile 1 a fellow runner handed me a small piece of paper. On that piece of paper was a scripture. The scripture was Matthew 28:20 and it read: “Be sure of this, I am with you

always, even to the end of the age.” In the moments prior to the race and during, I’d been praying to God for a break in the rain. Instead of completely stopping the rain he sends an angel with a message that gave me so much confidence and peace. In that moment, I was reassured that I would cross the finish line. But to me, that scripture wasn’t just about that race, it was about anything I faced in my life and business. Do I get afraid yes, but I know how to manage it. I just call on God for guidance, direction and support. 3. How do you define SUCCESS? When I was growing up my grandmother used to always say, “keep on saying good morning”. I didn’t understand the meaning then but I do now. Each day I get to live my dreams and empower business owners with the knowledge, tools and strategies to build a profitable business that’s success. Each day I get to share a laugh or hug with my family and friends that’s success. Success isn’t about acquiring things, although I thought the degrees, titles and salary made me successful. Thank God I discovered the truth! It’s about creating new experiences - experiences that bring joy and happiness to my life. Some days that’s reading a new book, trying a new workout, traveling to a new city, meeting new people and creating new moments with those I love the most. 4. If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? This is a good question. If there was one thing I wish I knew that would be that “it” doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be good enough. Some days the “it” was my blog post, my website, my newsletter or my video. I can remember spending countless hours trying to get something just right. I’ve learned that perfection kept me hiding from the community of entrepreneurs that I was supposed to serve…not to mention it does nothing to boost profits. 5. What makes you an innovative woman? I think it’s important to pause and listen to your heart’s instruction. I can’t say I’ve always done that in the past. Or at least when I did, I second guessed what I felt and heard. It’s the one place I know I can go for everything I need in all areas of my life. I believe choosing to listen to my heart and create, Profit is the New Black™ - a brand and business that’s truly me, makes me an innovative woman. I did it “their” way and now I choose to live my life and build a business that embodies everything I am. Pack Your Triple D in Your Sales Backpack! by Debbie Mrazek

am not a proponent of using certain God given qualities to increase sales, but I am all for the Triple D being packed in your sales backpack! Now before you start getting your feathers ruffled, let me explain, I’m not talking about your Cross My Heart or Push Up bra – I’m talking about Desire , Determination, and Demonstration! If you are not packing the Triple D, turn around and go home because without it, you will more than likely fail.

esire – If you are not packing desire, and I mean that deep yearning desire to succeed, and go off thinking just maybe you will make a sale today – guess what – your halfhearted desire will shine through! When was the last time you wanted or felt compelled to buy something from someone who came across as less than invested in the product? More than likely you tuned them out, turned your back, and walked away. – Right?
D
etermination – Some might think determination and desire are similar – wrong. Desire means a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen whereas determination is a quality that compels you to keep trying to do or achieve something that is difficult no matter how many times you may fail. You have to bring that undying determination and hold fast to it no matter how many “no’s” you may hear. The next could always be a “yes!”

ne of my most valuable assets in business was being ignored when I first launched my company over a decade ago.
I focused on getting my website up, making the “right” contacts, attending all the networking events I could find and making sure I had attractive and marketable marketing materials. My results? Zilch. Nada. Nothing. I forgot my most important asset, and that was focusing on my brand equity. Brand equity is associated with visibility, recognition, customer loyalty, and the market share enjoyed by the branded product or service. Brand equity is rooted in 3 key attributes: Understanding the true value of your products and services, Translating that value in a differentiated way, and emotionally connecting the value to your audience. Brand equity does not depreciate. Think about it. Your car depreciates, your computer and electronics all depreciate in value. However your brand equity can increase in value, year after year. Does your company follow a defined strategy for your brand? Which one describes you?
1. Finally Arrived Your target audience is clear on who you are, what you deliver and they understand the value you deliver. Gaining new clients comes easy for you because you don’t have “pricing shame”. Your audience values working with you. What do you do if this is you? Keep Going! Federal Payroll Tax Benefits For Hiring Your Child In Your Business by Candy Messer
H
iring a minor child may allow you to get help you need in the business and offer tax benefits as well. If you are a business owner operating a sole proprietorship or partnership where both partners are the biological parents of the child, you can employ that child and take advantage of the benefits available. The child’s income would be subject to federal withholding, however if they earn up to the standard deduction for the year ($6,200 in 2014), no tax will be due. They would be exempt from Social Security and Medicare taxes until they are 18 years old, unless employed in domestic service which is exempt until age 21. They are also exempt from federal unemployment taxes until age 21. Based on your state guidelines, they may also be exempt from state payroll taxes too.

o how does this benefit affect you? If you hire your minor child to assist in the business (doing age appropriate tasks for compensation), you will expense this salary reducing your profit in the business therefore reducing your taxable income for the year. For instance, if your business pays 25% income tax and you pay your child $5,000, you will save $1,250 in income tax. You would also save the Social Security/Medicare employer match that is paid on employees. In our example, that’s an additional savings of $382.50. And don’t forget, most likely you won’t have the state taxes either. Hopefully some of the wages your child earns is put away for the future (college fund, saving for a car, etc).

How much revenue you could potentially have from the consultations you do this month?

o you know how long it takes for you to convert a prospect to a client? Better yet, do you know what it costs you to gain a client? To lose a client?
Most importantly, do you know how your revenues this month stack up to last month’s, or this month’s last year? As business owners we want to believe that we know in our gut what is happening in our business, especially financially. But what I’ve discovered first hand is that if you don’t know your numbers and trends, and are solely going off your gut, your gut will let you down in the worst way. By utilizing the sales management

component in Infusionsoft, I can now document when I have a potential client and forecast what future dollars that client represents from the moment they reach out to me. I then document my consultation, calls, and emails with them right in Infusionsoft so I can see exactly how much time I’m spending on each prospect. My favorite part is that I can then see what the actual time versus the forecast time is, and pinpoint exactly how much I’m spending to make that sale. If the prospect does come on as a client, I send them a contract via EchoSign and tag them as a new customer. Infusionsoft then initiates a campaign where they get a welcome email and a link to complete our intake form. Once I get the signed contract back, I set my new client up with a monthly recurring subscription that allows me to set the amount and date they are charged. The signed contract gets uploaded to the client’s Filebox in their Infusionsoft contact record. In the same campaign that sent them the welcome email, I’ve set up an automated 30 and 60 day check in email where clients can complete

a brief survey on how everything is going. Infusionsoft also prompts the client with a link to my calendar to schedule a call with me if they need to. My sales process is fully managed and automated with the help of Infusionsoft to save me time and money and make my clients feel like they are well taken care of.
