DENUNCIA DI FURTO
Please visit the website www.fiab-onlus.it Learn about the proposals that FIAB has addressed to the Municipalities in order to combat theft and find the closest FIAB association to you
www.biciamici.org fiab.versilia.biciamici@gmail.com always MAKE A 10 Please COMPLAINT to the Police in
case of theft. Attach to the complaint a picture of the bicycle, the code of the manufacturer and a note on the position where the tax code was possibly punched (that will maybe be covered with a sticker, but hardly abraded). The complaint is essential to get back the bike if it's recovered. The complaint to the Police is also needful to update local administrators and law enforcement on the seriousness of the problem and to take effective actions against it.
To facilitate the collection of data on this phenomenon and to increase the possibility that stolen bikes can be recovered, it is important, in addition to the complaint, to report the theft immediately also on the following sites: mappalatuacittà.it , www.rubbici.it
you buy a bicycle you 11 When must ensure that it is not
stolen. Beware of deals suspiciously proposed and at too low prices. If you decide to buy, always demand a written document that contains the personal data of the seller, the description of the bicycle, the amount you paid and the date of the transaction. So that you will avoid potential legal consequences, (“imprudent puchase” and “handling of stolen goods” are crimes) and in particular you won’t help thieves.
Who buys a stolen bicycle is not a smart person,

Let’s make bike thieves' life more difficult!
There are no chains or padlocks that an experienced thief will not be able to force. However, we can make even the most professional thieves' life much harder, by using tricks and lockers that will force them to use heavy equipment, waste time, make noise at the risk of being caught in the act. So they maybe will give up.
Here are some useful tips: always 1 Lock [ALWAYS!] your bike even when you leave it only for a short while.
your bike preferably in 2 Park frequented places leaving it as much as possible "in sight"
sure that the chain (or the 5 Make bow-locker) fastens the
front-wheel and the bike frame to something, possibly to a rack firmly anchored to the ground. The closure should be as high as possible (to cut the most resistant chains thieves are favored if they can lay on the ground one of the arms of the cutter). The keyhole must be turned downwards to reduce the risk of being forced).
you leave your bike in 6 When potentially risky places you’d
better use a second locker that fastens the frame and the rear wheel to something anchored to the ground. It's even better if this second locker is different from the first one: the thieves are forced to use different equipment (i. e. cutter for the chain, saw for the arch).
always close bikes 8 Do parked inside
courtyards. In places where burglary is more frequent, bicycles must be locked to a fixed element anchored to the wall or to the ground or to a piece of furniture) even when they are kept in a garage or a cellar.
every useful precaution 9 Take to facilitate the recognition of your bike in case of theft:
use 3 Don’t quick-release
saddles and front-wheels for bicycles that you use in town.
a good locker even if it's 4 Choose heavy and expensive, and even if
your bicycle is old and of little value. Prefer square mesh chains (after being cut it doesn’t bend easily) or good quality bow lockers. Never use poor-quality lockers.

Note
Always park without obstructing the passage of pedestrians and disabled people and in respect of the environment: i. e. do not lock your bike to fences surrounding monuments.
NO!

For short stops in front of shops and if you need a second locker (although less safe than a chain or a quality bow) a circular lock set on the rear wheel can be handy.

By photographing it, so that you can also find details such as stickers or abrasions. By writing down the code that many manufacturers engrave under the pedals. By punching the owner’s tax code on the frame (in cities where this service is available) or by resorting to one of many identification systems available on the market.
