ABOUT

We can’t choose where we come from, but we can choose where we go from there.

People live occasionally. Most of the time they think they are living, but indeed, they are just surviving. It is only when people really live that they can do what they are born to do. Once they do that, they are happy. I spent entire days telling myself that someday I would make my feelings become reality and I waited for that day for a long time even though it never seemed to really come. But now here I am, ready to get what I am supposed to. I have enough strength and I am mentally ready to take part in the world of my fantasies and my dreams.

10: Furniture design

Brief

The request of the company, leader in the furnishing industry is to design a gallery furniture. The furniture must be designed to stand out in the eyes; as a prominent element in the company’s products exhibited at Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Inspiration

We all want things to stay the same. Settle for living in misery because we’re afraid of change, of things crumbling to ruins. But the real trap is getting attached to anything. We must always be prepared for endless waves of transformation. Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.

12: Furniture design

The raw wood exterior represents the ruins which are in contrary to the internal metallic materials that represent the scaffolding, which is a symbol of reconstruction.

I wanted to represent the soul of those who have suffered disappointments, those who feel destroyed, but that works to rebuild; to start something new.

20: Furniture design

Brief

The idea is to create a piece of forniture for home use; mostly for the bathroom, but not limited to this environment. It’s important that the product is intended to be sold online (hence easily shipped). The product should be youthful and environmentally friendly, but also be made of high quality Italian materials.

Problem

Alessia Burzio IED

I have devised a mirror that can solve a constant problem in every bathroom:

The fact that I can’t check myself clearly in the mirror because the sink is in between, is something that drives me crazy.

22: Furniture design

An unusual mirror that can be brought closer to the user The peculiarity of this mirror is that its movement occurs thanks to the rubber belts placed between a couple of wooden strips, making the object light and with lesser components. Thus, without screws or bolts.

50: Self made products

Brief

The brief given by the self-made product teacher asked for a piece of home furniture , to be developed in a short period of time and budget limited to the student’s solvency. The student could use professional craftsmanship or instead take on to the work with his/her own hands.

Problem

Alessia Burzio IED

I am normally a person who finds particular tranquility to work in the evenings. Since, at this time of the day, I’m physically tired, but very active mentally, I would find it comfortable to be able to have a support that allows me to write or use the computer in bed. Investigating a bit in the lives of the people around me, I noticed that it is an increasingly common habit of many to indulge in activities such as studying, writing or watching movies right before going to bed. Today internet is affordable for everyone and you have the choice to watch movies (thanks to NETFLIX or INFINITY); it is easier to find people who see movies on PC rather than on TV.

It Is designed for people who are used to stream movies, or for those who like to work in the evenings before going to sleep and therefore, would like a solid and broad support to work on.
