Con.temporary Borders Thesis Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design at the Politecnico of Milan, July 2012. Social Housing in Milan for immigrants and the elderly, two social figures apparently opposed to each other but in reality very complementary.

Theme/ Solitary man I started with a social research about solitary man: who lives alone in Milan? How many people? Why? .. Social survey 676.907

families composed by ...

244.677 219.428 333.395

married couples couples with children one person

FAMILIES BY 1 PERSON ...

... LIVES ALONE.

Once defined the Target, the elderly and regular immigrants, and after a careful research I presumed what are the needs of the individual and common and which are the “borders” to cross in relationships and in space.

Metaphor/ Con.temporary borders It is precisely the boundaries to be the metaphor of the project, which has as its basic objective to break down the boundaries between different cultures and ages.

The space in which to stop is articulated in two ways: on chairs or on a common platform, there is only one table. In this way, those who tasted the tea sitting on a chair at the same table and will be “on the same level” of those who, by culture and habit, sits on the floor, turning the borders between different cultures in the threshold of the multi-cultural comparison.
