TITLE SPONSOR

HISTORY Phil Alessi Jr. runs the Alessi Promotions organization insuring the well-known legacy continues through another generation. Phil Jr. has managed several power-house fighters and led the organization with the same professionalism and championship philosophy that his father created. He coordinated the weigh-in and fight results with media, are enjoying the venture. “I intend to maintain the honesty and integrity that the Alessi name has always represented .“ Alessi Promotions focus is on building a team of upstanding fighters who hold a significant chance of becoming world champions; and, he has already held a successful Junior Intercontinental NBA Title Fight. From the day we put the word out that Alessi Promotions was returning to the ring we have had phone calls coming in from managers and fighters who want to be a part of our team. Guys who fought for my father 20+ years ago are now looking to have their sons fight under our management. “It’s an honor to be able to fulfill not only mine and my father’s passion, but the passion of other father’s out there and their sons.

The late Phil Alessi Sr. was involved in the fight game since 1967. Alessi has promoted fights in New Orleans, Chicago, Seattle, London, Atlantic City, Nashville and Philadelphia along with his hometown of Tampa, Florida. In all, Alessi Promotions has put on more than 300 fight cards, more than 150 National Television Broadcasts and more than two dozen Championship bouts. Some of the fighters he promoted include John “The Beast” Mugabi, Marlon Starling, Bobby Czyz, Cornelius Boza Edwards, Edwin Rosario, Clint Jaconson and James Tillis. A third-generation resident of Tampa, and the Operator of his family’s long-standing bakery, Alessi held a reputation for honesty, integrity and professionalism in the boxing world. “Alessi Promotions can hold its collective head high,” wrote Randy Gordon, former Editor-In-Chief of Ring Magazine. “It is a finely-tuned team of professionals, the likes of which I’ve yet to find an equal in this sport.” Ferdie Pacheco, the Fight Doctor, once said of Alessi, “He was one of the few promoters the networks could take at his word. They loved to work with him.” Phil Sr. was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame.

An Alessi Promotions boxing card poster featured prominently at Philly’s Front Street Gym, where much of “Creed” was filmed

“Tampa for more than a century – the Alessi family has been known for the West Tampa bakery that carries their name. But there was a time they were famous around the world as boxing promoters through Tampa-based Alessi Promotions. Now, to the family’s surprise those earlier days are making a return thanks to one of Hollywood's most storied franchises. “Creed,” the latest chapter in the “Rocky” movie franchise, hit theaters Nov. 25. The next day, friends started stopping by Alessi Bakery at 2909 W. Cypress Street to show Phil Alessi Sr. that his family name appears throughout the film.”
