MAC MILLER TREADING WATER TOUR STAGE DESIGN ALEX DOYI
Overview Band Stage
Bridge
A Stage On the A Stage, Mac is isolated from both his band mates and the crowd. The pit in which he resides represents him being trapped in his own head. Throughout the show, the slits in the walls of his mind will gradually illumintate, depicting the journey of self-discovery Mac went through during his album, Swimming B Stage The B Stage is meant to be used in the concert’s most tender moments. Mac can only make his way onto this stage once he has “swam across the bridge, escaping his mind. Here he is the closest to the crowd, and finally at peace

Suspension Both stages are suspended in the air and able to move up and down throughout the show, portraying the varying levels of happiness and mindfulness that Mac experiences in the album. In addition, it serves as a vessel for the reoccuring motif of rising and falling ocean tides Mac would begin the show by decending from the A stage, representing the first track of Swimming, “Come Back to Earth”. He would close out the show on the B stage, rising into the sky while playing out the final track of the album, @MacMiller the ending to so it goes is so beautiful man I told john brion to play the ascention into heaven and he nailed it *Mac’s final tweet before his death
