PROJECT FACE-OFF This small-scale build meshes five unique facades into 3’x3’x3’ cube. Each face either takes control or finds compromise or where they meet with another, combining the precendents into a cohesive entity. This project started with field studies of notably historical Chicago buildings and their innovative structural techniques. Face-off combines all five hyper-characterized structures into an amalgation familiar themes.

PROJECT LINK HOUSE Tiny Homes Chicago, IL

This home contains two separate units at 346 square feet each. The plan is situated within the backyard of a typical Chicago lot and contains its own common courtyard space for the occupants, as well as private terraces. A wooden outer shell contains a start white interior, punctured with cutouts which are highlighted by a vibrant accent color. This system forms built-in furniture units, which is essential for space-saving within a small site. Circular geometries and tangential lines identify the areas inside, sectioning off the shared ground on the first floor and creating a light well.

PROJECT EXPORTERS Historical Urbanisms Ilfracombe, UK

This project uses the block as the core urban element to create a field of urban characters that are both autonomous and connected. Each block is specific to one program, isolating all programs from each other and using bridges to export each to a nearby village and connect them using existing road networks. They stand amidst the agricultural fields as icons of new types of urban areas, reinforcing a new relationship between the rural condition and the metropolis. This study is in response to a proposal by Damien Hirst, set to accommodate an additional 5,000 people just south of Ilfracombe.
