How to Review a Film in Response to Your Project “The Truth About Beauty” Deadline of first draft is Thurs 17th November Deadline of final draft is Thurs 24th November


1. Mind Map your film Genre: what type of film is it?

Intro: What are you wanting this review’s purpose to be? What do you want the reader to get from it?

What is the purpose of the film?

How does it link to the idea “The Truth About Beauty?”

How does it link to your ideas and concepts? How does it relate to the artists you have been studying?

Film Title and date of release

Think of a specific relevant scene and describe: colour, composition, lighting, framing etc List some adjectives (describing words) and some adverbs.

How does it make you feel? What does it make you think about? What is your summary/conclusio n going to be? How has it/will it impact you work?


Order of Writing the Review • Introduction: Introduce the film. Write a little bit of information about it and a brief sentence on how it relates to your title “The Truth About Beauty” (1 paragraph) • Main: 1.Describe a scene using key works like ‘lighting’ and starter sentences like “this suggests to the viewer…”. 2. Explain how it makes you feel and why? 3. Explain how this links to your ideas and concepts and also how this links to your artists. • Conclusion: How can you summarise what you have written into a paragraph and explain how it has/will impact your work. • (Do not forget to: include a couple of pictures, reread it and do a spell check on it!)
