With the rise of online communities, forums and blogs it’s secrets are being discovered, shared and used making it easier and easier to develop high traffic websites. However what the blogs, forums and gurus fail to tell us (or rather we choose to not seek out) is how to move our traffic from disinterested prospects to engaged buying customers. The following methods have all been personally proved and tested to increase conversions when used alone or in combination together. We will be covering: 1. How to find, use and implement buying keywords, 2. How to find products which sell themselves, 3. How to improve our copy to substantially sell more, 4. How to get visitors to return to our sites and finally 5. How to attract targeted traffic. Let’s begin with buying keywords.

Buying Keywords The basic idea of SEO every internet market understands is that you need a highly searched for keyword with weak competition. Everyday more people start affiliate marketing hence It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find golden nugget keywords. However on the other hand there are still hundreds of new products, brands and movies entering the market everyday with each one representing keyword opportunities. Typically internet marketing newbie’s start niche websites on hobbies (say dogs for example) so they might choose keywords such as “bull dogs” or “boxer dogs”. While these keywords may bring traffic this traffic is not in a buying mode and since they don’t visit to buy, it’s going to be much harder to convert this traffic into buying customers. Step 1. – Products. The first step is to look for products which your audience are already interested in buying (for example dog food, dog collars, dog training manuals) try looking for the best selling products on amazon.com, clickbank.com and payperclick.com. Step 2. – Become an affiliate. All the places mentioned above feature affiliate programs make sure you sign up to these, or if you can’t find an affiliate program contact the site owner and ask. Step 3. – Buying Keywords. You need to attract visitors which are actively looking to buy. The Blogging Institute Typically these searches would include the words: Buy Reviews Review Scam You want to take the exact product name for example “Applaws Dog food” and combine it with the above word to make it “Applaws dog food buy” “buy Applaws dog food” “Applaws dog food review” and so on (just make sure if you choose “review” you actually review the product). This works particularly well with long product names (since most marketers won’t trouble themselves with including the entire name in the keyword) such as “Honda Izy HRG415PD lawnmower” maybe abbreviated to “Honda Izy lawnmower”. Step 4. Now you simply need to use your buying keywords within your page name, body and Meta tags. Weave your affiliate links naturally within the page and enjoy the converting traffic. This technique really is effective I’ve used this technique with sites on receiving tiny amounts of traffic but since the traffic is so targeted I’ve made sales better than sites receiving 10 times the amount of visits.

Product Selection It’s all well and good promoting a product which offers affiliates high pay outs but will anyone actually buy it? Read and implement the following to be sure you see conversions. Step 1. Is it the best product available? If it’s not your likely missing out on a much higher conversion rates look further afield from Clickbank and you’ll often find there’s more products with affiliate programs in your niche than you originally thought. Step 2. Would you buy it? Put yourself in your visitors mind imagine you’ve landed on your page for the first time. If you followed an affiliate link on your site to a sales page would you buy the offering? You’ll pretty quickly know whether a product will convert by using this method. All those poorly written sales pages are a big turn off and scream scam to the prospect. Step 3. Is it actually a decent product? The better the product the easier the sale. Selling poor quality products will only lead to refunds, poor conversions and lack of credibility. Only ever promote high quality products which actually do what they claim to. Step 4. Competition Are loads of other people trying to sell the same product? If your using buying keywords and you find you have a lot of competition this may present a problem and you’ll be better off finding an alternative product, on the other hand if you’re selling to a general audience this isn’t a problem. Payout I’ve recently found it’s often just as easy to sell a high ticket item as a low priced item (much easier if the high ticket item is better) this can massively increase your profits.

Copywriting “Copywriting is the use of words to promote a person, business, opinion or idea.”(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copywriting). Through the use of emotive and persuading words you have a much better chance of selling that just by linking the words “Buy now” to a product page. Copywriting is so powerful that top copywriters have literally devoted their entire lives to learn how to write high converting copy. You should try and continually improve your knowledge copy repeatedly read up, research and practice your copywriting as well as implementing the following: Step 1. Text Links Personally I’ve found text links to convert much much better than any banner advertising I’ve ran on my sites, most people just ignore banners don’t you? But if they see the author of the article carefully weaving a link within the body of the article more often than not the prospect will click through. Step 2. Placement Try and place your text links within the copy above the fold. Step 3. Product sizzles What benefit does it bring to the prospect to click through? For a dog training manual this might be to stop your dog chewing everything in sight. Remember! Every product has a sizzle so make sure you sell it in your copy. Step 4. Watch your bark You don’t want to come across to much like a salesman you need to write conversationally, naturally and come across as one of them this way prospects will respect you much more. Returning Traffic Returning visitors are more likely to tell their friends about your site engage in commenting and buy from you. This is due to developing a high level of trust and authority between your site and its traffic. The prospects already seen what you provide and been impressed enough to return so buying becomes the next natural progression. Unfortunately for the majority of internet marketers most of our traffic is solely new, fresh visitors who rarely return so we need to develop strategies to ensure this traffic returns to us. Read through and implement the following techniques and you’ll see your traffic return time and time again. Step 1. Give them a reason to return Most people don’t read an entire content filled website in one go but having lot of content doesn’t give them a reason to return either. Think back to the last time you returned to a site and it was probably due to you either being prompted of new content or considering there to be fresh new content on the site (for example: Facebook, Twitter, News sites) for this reason adding a blog is a great way to encourage returning visitors. Targeted Traffic Targeted engaged traffic are more likely to buy than disinterested traffic - if you’re looking for gardening information and land on a skydiving website It’s highly unlikely you’d purchase a skydive experience so we need to ensure the bulk of our traffic are actively looking for what we are providing. Buying keywords are one way to achieve this other methods include: Step 1. Alternative traffic sources Consider exploring alternative traffic sources outside of the search engines. Forums, Social media sites and online web 2.0 communities can all bring fantastic targeted traffic. Step 2. Become an authority By becoming an authority within forums and online communities you’ll naturally get an enhanced CTR (click through rate). Step 3. Guest Blogging Guest blogging is a great way to piggy back on someone else’s traffic. You get to leverage all there back-linking and promotion efforts by simply submitting a fresh content filled post. Step 4. Paid traffic For most new affiliate marketers paid traffic is simply not an option.
