Objective: To introduce students to the speculative and iterative nature of the design process conceptualizing and testing ideas in progressive succession. The project should explore how circulation can elicit specific responses from the user and create an overall spatial experience. Context: Two defined rooms-the Long Room and the Tall Room. To devise a way of moving between portal-X (connection to the exterior) and portal-Y (connection between the two rooms). The design process for this project included a series of rough plans and sections with different circulation patterns. The designs were used to study different user responses and experiences created.

Interpolation
Mustafa Khan Objective: The project, a house for two clients, is meant to break with any preconceived notions of a home by building upon the practices of experiential narratives of circulation that began to emerge in “Traversing Space” as well as spatial logics. Context: House was designed for a Grandfather and a Fashion Designer. Two opposite personalities connected together by the designer’s fouryear-old daughter. Highly focused on creating shared space and privacy for the individuals.
Basic Unit used for developing study models
The design approach for this project include a series of study models. The models were used to study patterns of shared space in each abstract structure and succession from public to private. The design for the final model was chosen based on functionality of the share spaces, structure and one that fully embraced the objective of the project.
Shared Space and Design Study
The extracted axon pieces are indication of critical meeting points and shared spaces between the two interlocking tubes.

Objective: Introduction to an interdisciplinary design process and dialogue that is becoming more and more imperative as architects address the complex needs and operations of the 21st century city. Issues of landscape and urbanism are undeniably intertwined within the practice and discourse of architecture today. Context: Design a Film Archive and Outdoor Theater that will integrate the surrounding landscape (open park area), adaptable systems/ space (outdoor theater and seating), and permanent construction (the Film Archive).
The design process for this project began with two basic concepts. First one is based on a model diagram portraying two identical shapes creating a large interior space and two smaller exterior spaces.
The second major concept included creating space that allowed an observer to view another’s reality protected by a physical barrier.
A series of study models were created to discern the best design that encompassed both concepts.
The best example of a protected view of another’s reality can be seen in the inside theater design. Two seating arrangements were created facing each other. Allowing for the moviegoers to watch each others reactions to the films. The protection provided by the space in between.

CD Case/Sculpture Mustafa Khan
The design was part of honors studio class. The objective was to create a creative sculpture that can be used as a CD holder.

Coffee Tables
Mustafa Khan
The coffee tables were constructed from a 6x8 piece of plywood. The class was challenged to create interesting designs while using as much of the piece as possible.

Home Design
Single Person Home
Mustafa Khan These houses were designed for a Chinese American client and a four person family. The purpose of the design was to explore Feng Shui and create a positive connection with each adjacent house.
