Portable Heating Device An ongoing project, to design a desirable product for the Land Rover Brand that allows hot food to be eaten on location. As a group we chose the interailling activity to provide food on the go after a high energy draining day.

Research + Initial Ideation Scenario

Ideation + Card Prototype

The brand for our device is Land Rover. Interailing is our chosen activity

Rugged

Strength

Concepts sketches provide the experience for initial card modelling, to test the designs

Sophistication

Testing: Gained knowledge in the scenario, finding improvements in the designs

Insights + Design Issues

Initial Card Model User Interaction

Mo:Ben: container with a built-in film heater.

User Task Goals

BioLite: A stove that transforms heat into usable electricity.

Next Design Direction

Travel varies from mainly trains and a lot of walking

It must be compact to fit inside a rammed rucksack

Deigns should be developed, following the Land Rover style

Most spend over budget. Experiences + food prices are high

It must be used on location, avoiding gas for train use

It should heat quickly making processes efficient

Food importance is low, street food snacking is the trend

It must be convenient to clean for different food types

Design function should be compact to fit in rucksacks

Issues - storing food to provide energy. Creating a compact design whilst pushing technology

It must preserve heat well to eat when needed in the day

Technology should be pushed on, along with sustainability

Injection Mould Tool Headphone Tidy To create a prototype mould tool for small scale injection moulding within manufacture limitations. The project we chose was a Beats Headphone Tidy. The widget is used as a free give away item to wind up any standard headphones.

There will be enough space for 3 widgets. This layout would produce 3,077,260 widgets in the specified time frame. This is more than the required number, however it will allow time for any unanticipated problems to occur. We have chosen HDPE for our chosen material as it’s properties fit the purpose of our widget best.

02 Connect App To design an app that is aligned with social entrepreneurship projects. Our app appeals to two target audiences, someone who has an idea that needs extra expertise and the other someone willing to volunteer those skills for experience.

Concept

User Persona 1

People offering their skills rather than funding can often be more valuable than money. An app focused on appealing to two target audiences, someone who has a start up ideas that need people’s expertise and the other target audience are people who are willing to invest their skills to help them with specific areas.

User Persona 2

User Interest

This will give people experience in the working world rather than getting paid or having to commit to a full time placement or job; this could be done alongside studying to build up knowledge and experience.

User Status

If a volunteer helps out, they will be rewarded with ‘O2 reward points’ these will be recognized by businesses for experience . Both audiences will go on this app to help find projects they want to work on and then be able to contact people with the appropriate skill sets.

Meet Billy, he’s a third year university student and he does

Meet Jen, she’s a young entrepreneur looking to start up

work everywhere, he loves using technology, he likes to dress well and is pasionate about

a business, and she does work everywhere, she loves cooking and is has a punctual personality.

To keep the polyethylene consumtion as low as possible the body is hollow. To get him to the original weight of 9.5 pounds/4.3kg and give him perfect balance, you need to fill the interior with sand, salt or any other material with a 4m long,Attach tangle free, textile reinforced for extra protection. The Lampster will receive a base coat and two layers of paint for extra coverage and color consistency. Two layers of clear coats provide protection against wear and scratches. The second clearcoat layer is UV resistant so if exposed to sunlight the Lampster won’t alter his color.

It all started from some old headlight we had around the workshop. We wanted to give them some use, and make something funny to have around the house; not some dull ugly lamp. So after many sketches we came up with the Lampster! The shape is one of power and confidence, and being with colors and like some kind of a robot; makes it really fun to have around the house.!

The app benefits from simple global navigation and a friendlier layout benefiting user interaction and aesthetics.

Granea Porridge Maker To Design a product that supports domestic solar PV systems. A week-long project, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure to complete a design task. The design - a more efficient ‘on the go’ porridge maker for breakfasts.

Microwaves and hob heating being among the highest consuming appliances wasting unnecessary energy. The product must save energy wastage through existing technology, be quick and easy to set up involving as little user input. User interference should be minimal. The porridge maker must capitalise on solar energy available through the home by charging its battery during the day to store overnight ready for its use the next morning. Technology needed to be sourced for existing products to provide feasibility for my porridge maker Asmo plugs cut off power once fully charged Terraced batteries allow me to use heat pads and store large amounts of energy

Nest technology allow me to control the times of day the product charges My research provided me with the solutions to create a more efficient product taking advantage of solar energy available in the home.

Busy single city worker, with a constant rushed morning schedule. A health conscious individual who needs a quick easy breakfast to get them through each day.

Aimed for the user to put in little. It recharges through the day on non-peak sunshine hours to allow other larger devices to take better advantage of the solar power.

Any household or flat that has already installed solar PV system. The product must be located close to the mains for easier charge. It should be close to oats and milk.

High end product that fits into any modern kitchen. The design must withstand daily use meeting expectations and succeed in usability in terms of ergonomic and function values.

Breakdown My time managment during the project was split between one day of research, 3 days of concept generation, one day of development and two days producing an accurate CAD model and rendering of my design solution. Specific Internals to Power on Battery

Fruit Squeeze Device An individual personal project taken on by myself. The two pitched helical screw enabled an easier squeezing experience whilst keeping hands dry. The product provides a more functional option to juicing different types of fruit.

Modelling gave me an idea of some concept generations
