Wave Sliders Wave Sliders is a museum about surf history and surf culture. It is located in Los Angeles, California about five miles from the Pacific Ocean.The intended audience ranges from surf fanatics to those who would like to learn more about the origins of surfing.

Wordmark The wordmark is loose in the way a person’s body must be while surfing. The gritty texture is like the ocean spray and beach sand. Terms inspired the exhibit’s wordmark are on the opposite page.

Photo Treatment Photos are in grayscale with a representation of the Sun layered over the focal points. Keeping the photos in grayscale unifies the look while the Sun image works to highlight subjects.

Color Gray, White, Black, and Sunset are used through the entire exhibit as a cohesive element.

Univers LT Std is versatile and distinctive without being obtrusive. The typeface works as a neutral voice that doesn’t compete with the stylistic elements of the exhibition design. It is easily read and conveys the information clearly.

Wayfinding The wayfinding system is a set of vinyl stickers on the exhibition walls. The hand painted lettering is designed to mimic traditional beach signs.

Surfboard Evolution A wall with replicas of surfboards in chronological order is unified by one large Wave Slider image.

Beach Room The Beach Room is a circular room with a sand textured floor and seats in the shape of beach wood logs. A projector is suspended in the center of the room that displays a panoramic film of great moments in surfing history. Audio of the films come from built in speakers in the wall.

Mailers Mailers from the museum are sent to Members as a way to inform them of upcoming events and promotions. They are also beautiful keepsakes.

Billboards Billboard advertising familiarizes our audience with the style and name of the exhibit. Keeping it simple makes it more memorable. The placement of the photo on a high rise billboard reinforces the warm Sun concept.

Website The website uses all of the same visual elements of the exhibition. Visitors can learn about special deals and upcoming events here. The main page is a news feed with top and side navigation.

Membership Cards Membership Cards are valid for an entire year. A member can easily slide their card and avoid the ticket line. There is a box on the back for the Member to write their name. The cards are made from plastic.

Tickets Admission tickets are in the shape surfboards. They come in gray or yellow. Yellow for adults and gray for youth. On the back of all tickets is the image of a Wave Slider. Legal information and web address for the exhibit is one the back side.

Blue Sky The success of Wave Sliders will lead to museum sponsored surfing competitions. Wave Sliders will preserve and educate surfing history while simultaneously make surfing history with these annual competitions.
