Over the past two years we have worked with a group of graduate-student researchers in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT to develop an assessment of curbside compostables collection in U.S. cities. From the
outset, our goal was to produce an analysis that would be useful for cities and towns that are hoping to undertake curbside composting but are uncertain about how to begin or what factors will be critical to their success. Now that we have completed our research, in which we examined 15 North American curbside composting programs in depth, we are making the results freely available here, and hope that you will be able to make use of them.
