Queens of the Stone Age Tour, featuring Royal Blood, will Highlight New Album
Breaking their almost two-year live hiatus, Queens of the Stone Age returned to the stage at the Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls, New York in late June to preview their 2017 tour. Because the band had been absent from the spotlight for so long, this performance gave them the chance to showcase material from their latest album, Villains, after which the 2017 tour is named. Queens of the Stone Age presented the New York crowd with two new tracks — lead single “The Way You Used to Do” and “The Evil Has Landed” — both of which were pulled from Villains. This latest record was produced by Mark Ronson, who also produced Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black and Lady Gaga’s Joanne, and is set to debut August 25th through Matador Records.
The majority of the North American Tour is being supported by Royal Blood, a British rock duo known for their dynamic blues-rock. Royal Blood will perform with Queens of the Stone Age at historic venues such as Morrison, Colorado’s outdoor Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Detroit, Michigan’s beautiful Fox Theatre. The tour will follow summer festival appearances at Quebec’s Amnesia Rock fest and San Francisco’s Outside Lands. Queens of the Stone Age is also headlining Chicago’s Riot Fest — a festival known for its strong rock presence — where other performers include Jawbreaker and Paramore. The North American Villains Tour is set to officially kick off on September 6th and will run through the end of October. Excluding festival appearances, Queens of the Stone Age will make twenty-two stops on this tour, eighteen of which will be accompanied by openers Royal Blood. In
the past, Queens of the Stone Age toured with Iggy Pop on his Post Pop Depression Tour. The Post Pop Tour followed Iggy Pop’s album Post Pop Depression, which was produced by QOTSA’s Josh Homme and featured contributions from QOTSA members. This North American Tour included many of the same stops as the Villains North American Tour, including the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. Though Queens of the Stone Age’s Tour 2017 North American Tour is not the product of a collaboration, it is still sure to be a dynamic and enthralling production.
