Martial arts are traditional practices that apply to contemporary culture. Kendo evolved from a method of warfare into a competitive sport. Self-cultivation, respect, and discipline drive every aspect of kendo practice. Kendo forges communites and cultivates dialogue between nonJapanese and Japanese cultures.
