From the Principal
A unique element of our future focused Senior Curriculum is the relationship students will share with their mentors. Learning is a collaborative process and with the support of a mentor, each student will be guided to pursue a personalised pathway that caters to her unique strengths and interests.
At Walford, we remain committed to providing an environment that is enriched by a culture of deep learning and aspiration. Our Senior Curriculum will build on this foundation, ensuring that students are equipped with all that they need to be future ready.

With innovative subject offerings, electives and specialisations as well as core foundation studies, you can take charge of your education by co-designing a personalised learning pathway for Years 10, 11 and 12 that reflects your interests, your learning style and your ambitions. This flexible pathway will ensure you have the support you need and the challenges you seek.
This curriculum prepares our students for the real world with transferable skills, an extended and relevant knowledge base and a range of enriching experiences that will ensure each student is future ready.

Walford is giving you more control over your Senior School education than ever before. With greater choice, and a wider subject range, you can get to where you want to go faster and deliberately with a tailored and flexible learning program that reflects your strengths and supports your future learning goals. Your education focus will depend on the stage of your learning and will be personalised for you as an individual.
The following example shows the learning pathway for a Year 11 student who chooses to specialise in Law and Politics:
With your personalised learning pathway now in place, you will keep building knowledge, developing skills and participating in experiences through your chosen core and elective subjects as you work towards the first stage of your South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). Together with your mentor, you can explore the option of accelerating your learning should you choose and if the opportunity is available. With a focus on the future, you will begin a specialisation developing key skills, gaining valuable experience and undertaking community service that aligns with your learning and career goals.

Each student will have the opportunity to accelerate her learning completing SACE subjects early and taking advantage of tertiary options.
This is the year to be curious. With the help of your mentor, you will develop a personalised learning pathway where you can explore your interests and identify the educational goals you want to achieve. With your choice of a standard or advanced curriculum, you can try a range of core subjects to discover where your strengths lie and have the option to pursue accelerated learning options. You will also develop important academic skills like critical thinking. You will collaborate with your mentor to choose electives, including multi-disciplinary optional subjects, in preparation for your chosen specialisation from Year 11 and start building your portfolio.

Her Best Stage 2 SACE Course & Graduation
Your final year at Walford is about helping you achieve the best SACE result possible to prepare you for future learning and career success. You can continue to accelerate your learning through a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) course or starting your tertiary education studies early if you would like to and are able. With guidance from
Your mentor will meet with you every week to listen, provide guidance and monitor your progress through an online dashboard that records your learning and achievements as you go. As part of your specialisation in Years 11 and 12, your mentor can also connect you with other members of the Walford community, including Old Scholars, who will share their real-world advice. With your mentor’s encouragement, you will maximise your learning potential and extend yourself further than you thought possible.
This is an opportunity for truly personalised learning. Each student will work with her mentor to co-create and curate a range of experiences, both in and out of the classroom, that are unique to her.

The final years of your Senior School education will be your most challenging and the most rewarding. Walford will be beside you providing the support you need to succeed.
From Year 10 through to your graduation in Year 12, you will have a designated mentor, who is a member of Walford’s teaching staff, collaborating with you to co-create a personalised learning pathway that reflects your talents and outlines your goals. Together, you will select the best subjects, electives, experiences and community service opportunities, both inside and outside Walford, to prepare you for a future in a fastchanging world.

Your portfolio will be a valuable record of your time at Walford and will outline experiences you have outside the classroom including:
