Sioufi Tower
DISSECTING THE MASS a conceptual approach followed in the design of the tower inspired from the diverse nature of the site, that is, of a commercial and residential nature. Several experiments where made to decided the allocation of masses with respect to the site coming to the final conclusion of having a cultural volume at the bottom that includes a library, classrooms, offices and a public lecture creating an urban studies center. Moreover, the middle volume is made for office and finally the upper volume for the residential area .

The site is located in a commercial district in Beirut. As shown in the map, the site is edged with a residential neighborhood that gives the site double identity, being in a commercial district yet being close to a residential, quite, neighborhood. This character will influence the design process later on.
9
The structure is made up of two systems, one spanning from the core and cantilevering to the sides, the other is a simple system of columns and beams at the bottom volume resting on the ground. The structure on top is made of steel attached to a rigid core made of concrete. 10

Metn: The Valley

This Project is Located in the Metin region, central Lebanon. Metin Has has qualities of having plenty of water sources as well as greenery all around. The region has few roman ruins that gives it a historical importance with respect to the country, as it was called the old Beirut. Metin witnessed turbulences in the Lebanese civil war, as it was divided into two front, the Christian and Druze front. Several battles happened between them that still have reminiscent through the destruction found, as well as the demographics of the region.

A facade was developed for the south facade to respond for site context of the building, that is, overlooking a beautiful valley as well as being exposed to the southern sun. The facade (shown in the lower row up) is made up of truncated pyramid that is oriented to filter-in indirect daylight to illuminate the space within. A trial of the facade was 3D printed in order to test it in reality and visualize how successful it is. 20

Reclaiming Charles Helou This project aims to revive an abandoned bridge/highway located in the heart of the city of Beirut. My approach is to activate the structure by making a project adjacent to the site that acts as a transition zone to complement and activate the old bridge of Charles Helou. The bridge is left for the public to appropriate and use thus making the public as an active agent to revive the bridge. The top of the underground project is left as an outdoor, public, green space that acts as breathing outlet for the neighborhood as well as pathway to the bridge.

The architecture language followed in this project is one underground, humble architecture that buries itself underground to leave the ground public outdoor space reclaimed by the city of Beirut. At the same time, the project acts as a connector to the city of Beirut to the abandoned bridge of Charles Helou. A bridge that is activated, with the help of this project, to house different programs set by the squatters of the city. The underground nature of the project doesn’t prevent it from being a project that let’s absorbs in light for the programs inside.

Voids within Voids
A moment of Surrender. A small Continuous line of sketch. The farm; Its dimness and smallest details shows continuity and flow. A Minimal mass that can still be seen and read. Condensed to an extent that its blackness fades away. At the end of the journey, the farm is reduced and reduced until only its essential elements are left behind. Nothing but a continuous trail of lines, signs and patterns that resembles what it was and projects what it would become.
