BANK & ARCHITECTURE FIRM “EXPANSIVE” WAS CHOSEN AS THE DESIGN CONCEPT IN RELATION TO ATB’S BUSINESS PLANS AND GOALS TO CHANGE THE WAY BANKING IS DONE, AND TO GROW THE COMPANY IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. THIS IDEA WAS ALSO CARRIED INTO THE ARCHITECTURE FIRM DESIGN. 12
THIS EXTERIOR RENDERING IS OF MY ATB FINANCIAL BANK DESIGN PROJECT LOCATED IN GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALBERTA. TO REPRESENT THE THEME OF EXPANSION ON THE EXTERIOR, NATURAL MATERIALS WERE SELECTED TO ACCENT THE LOCATION, PLAYING OFF THE WIDE OPEN PRAIRIE LANDSCAPE. ALL RENDERINGS WERE CREATED IN SKETCHUP AND EDITED IN PHOTOSHOP.

AS ILLUSTRATED, THE MAIN FLOOR HOUSES ATB FINANCIAL, WHILE THE SECOND FLOOR IS USED FOR THE ATB STAFF AREA, IN ADDITION TO AN ARCHITECTURE FIRM. ALL PLANS WERE DESIGNED USING AUTOCAD.
15
THESE INTERIOR RENDERINGS SHOWCASE THE TELLER AREA, WAITING AREA, TOUCH DOWN SPACES, AND OFFICES, FOR THE ATB FINANCIAL SPACE ON THE MAIN FLOOR.
16
THEY HIGHLIGHT THE LIVING WALL AND THE GLASS PARTITION WALLS USED FOR KEEPING THE SPACE FEELING OPEN. THESE IMAGES WERE MADE WITH SKETCHUP AND EDITED IN PHOTOSHOP.
17
ALL EXTERIOR ELEVATIONS SHOW THE EXTENSIVE USE OF CURTAIN WALLS AND WINDOWS, AGAIN TO REPRESENT THE CONCEPT OF EXPANSIVE.
18
THEY ALSO FEATURE THE VARYING LEVELS OF THE ROOF ADDING VISUAL INTEREST TO THE OVERALL BUILDING DESIGN. ELEVATIONS CREATEAD IN SKETCHUP.

NAIT DORMITORY
21
NAIT DORMITORY “GROWTH” WAS THE CENTRAL CONCEPT WHEN CREATING A STUDENT RESIDENCE, FOCUSING ON IDEAS OF PERSONAL AND EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENTS THAT STUDENTS GO THROUGH DURING THEIR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. 22
THIS WAS A FINAL DESIGN PRESENTATION BOARD THAT DISPAYED ONE PERSPECTIVE VIEW AND TWO ELEVATION VIEWS. THE CONCEPT GROWTH WAS PORTRATED USING GROWING SIZES OF CANTILEVERS WHILE PROGRESSING UP THE STORIES OF THE BUILDING. ALL THREE DRAWINGS WERE COMPLETED BY HAND RENDERING USING MARKERS.
23

SECOND FLOOR
24
THIRD FLOOR
THE THREE-STOREY DORMITORY BUILDING INCLUDED THE MAIN FLOOR BEING A PUBLIC SPACE WITH A RETAIL AREA. THE SECOND AND THIRD FLOORS WERE FOR THE STUDENT RESIDENCES AND INCORPORATED PLENTY OF COMMON AREAS FOR STUDYING OR SOCIALIZING. EACH RESIDENTIAL FLOOR HAD TWO, THREE, AND FOUR BEDROOM UNITS. THE FLOORPLANS WERE CREATED USING AUTOCAD.

CHURCHILL TOURIST CENTRE THE INSPIRATION FOR A TOURIST CENTRE IN CHURCHILL, MANITOBA, WAS THE INUSHUK AND SYMBIOSIS. THE INUKSHUK IS A STRUCTURE OF ROCKS STACKED TO FORM A HUMAN FIGURE AND IS A LARGE ATTRACTION IN THE CITY. SYMBIOSIS IS TWO DISSIMILAR ORGANISMS THAT COHABITATE. THESE IDEAS CONVEYED THE CONCEPT OF THE RELATIONSHIP 28
BETWEEN HUMAN BEINGS AND NATURE.
ALL PERSPECTIVES AND ELEVATIONS WERE CREATED AND STYLIZED USING SKETCHUP.

INFO/RECEPTION
THIS FLOORPLAN AND AERIAL RENDERING VIEW IMMEDIATELY SHOWCASE THE MAIN IDEA BEING REPRESENTED IN THE DESIGN. IT WAS LAID OUT TO FORM HALF OF AN INUKSHUK FIGURE. AREAS INCLUDED A LOBBY, INFORMATION AREA, GALLERY FOR LOCAL ART, AN INTERPRETIVE AREA FOR CHANGING DISPLAYS, AND A VIEWING PLATFORM FOR OBSERVING THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF CHURCHILL. THE FLOORPLAN WAS MADE USING AUTOCAD, WHILE THE AERIAL RENDERING WAS CREATED WITH SKETCHUP.
31
PERSPECTIVES OF THE BUILDING FEATURE A COMBINATION OF SLANTED AND FLAT ROOF LEVELS. THEY ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE USE OF NATURAL MATERIALS SUCH AS STONE AND WEATHERED WOOD CLADDING.
32
THIS ACCENTS THE OPEN LANDSCAPE THE BUILDING IS SURROUNDED BY, WHICH CAN BE OBSERVED THROUGH MANY WINDOWS INCORPORATED INTO THE OVERALL DESIGN OF THE TOURIST CENTRE.
