KRISTJANA S WILLIAMS CREATIVE REPORT
I choose to interview Kristjana Williams as her practice is where I aspire my own practice going. Her application of furthering her designs onto interiors, murals, fashion and fine art makes her an acclaimed illustrator in the industry, and has won an array of awards from ‘Dulux Colour Awards’, ‘D&AD’, a New York Festivals Grand Prix and First Prize to name a few.
➤
Kristjana grew up in Iceland, where her earliest influences derived from poring over maps of places filled with colourful flora and fauna she loved but never got to experience. Studying graphic design at Central St Martins she quickly became the creative director for Beyond the Valley for 8 years. Her Inspiration lie heavily of anything to do with nature as well as symmetry. The is where I can relate my practice, as well as having a keen eye for interiors. I found it interesting how she identified her weakness as she “wants to do everything” which I can relate to, I don't want to pin myself down to one medium or style. Her practice gives me confidence in that this can be achieved.

I loved her advice on perseverance and fearlessness “don’t restrict yourself by the boundaries that can stifle your creativity.” I have a tendency to restrict myself by over analysing the brief, I feel exploring through Kristjana’s interviews and her work, this has encouraged me to let my ideas flow and to never doubt my ability, just keep designing what I like and what Inspires me!
“As a child growing up with a stark landscape I was always craving colour and exotic wonders, now looking back I can see the true unique beauty in my homeland which adds ever more inspiration.
