FMP development & outcomes
initial ideas - “emotion, Originally inspired by “6 memos” colours” work, where I started to play with
This also involved a lot of experimenting with words (which would later inspire the idea of colours, drawing textures and shapes, moving towards a “book”) and with collage, a format i enjoy working in but did not chose to sometimes considering a “world” continue within the project. around the images.
A lot of consideration for which colours represent what emotions. What colours make you think of what emotion? where does this short picture take you?
what does it convey? is all the meaning in the words or do the colours tell you more? do the feelings convey across each image separately or does it only work as a group regardless of if they are truly related?
ore playing with pencil textures and images that suggest there’s more to the stor
many pieces were done with the idea that they were excerpts from someones diary. some of them were inspired by past experiences with abusive relationships, but still tried to focus on the feelings behind it.
when it became clear most of the imagery was leaning towards one “story and that the colour i was looking for was coming through i moved on from it
where this work spilled over into “6 memos, shortly before the focus moved onto ooking at emotions
from here i started experimenting with colours/shapes/objects in the work that for some reason reflected “guts”, pink, blood, worms more than anything else
a lot of the work was trying to play with “human” aspects in a way that wasn’t always entirely clear.
(acrylic on canvas) others were just looking to explore emotions through
working with colour and traditional drawing textures, not specifically “human-related but still looking at exploring emotions.
everyday objects, colours and the emotions behinds them
(oil paint on glass) moving into the “creepier” art, still focusing on “pink, human qualities, guts/innards that are human but seem non-human”
done on glass to allow you to see it from both angleswith the idea that its a strange way to look at a person,
oil paint on glass, again to let you see both sides. “guts squashed against glass” or looking in on something you shouldn’t be able to. started leaning more on the “body horror” idea for a second
also a brief interlude where the “creepy” aspect started working towards “found footage” pieces, working with my dissertation about concept art, and creepy pieces of art that start giving you strange feelings.
the idea being it looks almost like a normal house, but there’s a strange humanlike character, and the whole piece is meant to give off strange fight-or-flight vibes.
although the house idea stayed and the somewhat creepy aspect, the idea of doing “found footage” didn’t have any solid outcomes to work with so was abandoned.
