Here are the major highlights of this 6-day travel itinerary exploring the pacific coast touring route in Queensland. Day1: Brisbane to Fraser Island Take the Noosa road and stop by the bistros, fashion outlets and beaches on the way. Pay a visit to Noosa National Park to enjoy the magnificent views it offers. While on the main road, you will find the historical towns of Gympie, which is also known as the gold rush town, and Maryborough, the most ancient provincial city of the sunshine state. Before you get aboard a boat to Fraser Island, enjoy whale watching at Hervey Bay.
Day2: Fraser Island to Bundaberg Hire a campervan to travel across the island and explore all its major attractions. Back to the road, continue driving your campervan to Bundaberg, also known as a gateway to southern Great Barrier Reef. Walk by the old colonial buildings and then board on a cruise down the Burnett River. Go snorkelling and diving with coral reefs at islands. Make sure you spare time to watch sea turtles at Mon Repos. Day3 : Bundaberg to Rockhampton Continue driving through Gin Gin to the picturesque coastal town of 1770, named after the year it was discovered. Take an inland detour to Cania Gorge National Park and Eurimbula National Park. Then, head down to the city of Gladstone, which is also known as a green city as it is surrounded by lush green rainforest gorges, beautiful lakes and spectacular beaches. Keep driving to Rockhampton now. Day 4: Rockhampton to Mackay Some of the major highlights of this fourth day drive include snorkelling at Shelving Beach, strolling around the Botanic Garden and tucking into some of the tastiest beef steaks in the country, all at Rockhampton. Want to take your ankle biter for bird watching? Head down to the Capricorn Coast and Byfield National Park. Mackay is a major gateway to Cape Hillsborough National Park where you can enjoy fun activities like swimming, fishing and bushwalking. Day 5: Mackay to Townsville Drive west inland towards the Eungella National Park. When back on the shoreline, you will pass through Airlie Beach, a mainland gateway to the Whitsundays, a heavenly beautiful island named after its pristine white sand. Enjoy sailing at the island or simply relax laying on the sand! Mate, there is more on your palate! Drive north to Townsville and you will witness some of the most scenic fields on the earth. Day 6: Townsville to Cairns Known as the Great Green Way, this 350 kilometre journey takes you through 12 national parks and over 20 tropical islands. Drive through the living museum of Charters Towers, detour to Paluma National Park or explore Tyoto Wetlands near Ingham. Visit Wallaman Falls, Australia's highest single drop waterfall. Explore Hinchinbrook Island, Australia’s largest island national park or walk along breathtaking Mission Beach. Check out the Chinese temple and art deco buildings in Innisfail and go white water rafting in Tully Gorge National Park. Discover wetlands and rare plants of Eubenangee Swamp National Park and spectacular waterfalls in Wooroonooran National Park. Your trip ends in the relaxed, international city Cairns.
