I LIKE DESIGN COMPETITION
01 The design inspiration comes from both the desire to have knowledge and the size of the whale. I believe a travelers’ willingness to explore the world is monumental; if it is objective, it is even bigger than a whale. When people see a huge whale right in front of their eyes, they will know their ambitions can be greater than they originally thought. The whale skeleton is not made of real skeleton but instead it stands for the spirit of traveler. The Further hotel lobby located in Seattle will be transformed into an interactive stage for people who are willing to explore the world. The lobby is designed with abundant natural light and harmonious color palette that promotes spiritual healing and comfort for world traveler. With flexible seating, the space is easy to transform from minute to minute for travelers and the local community. The life size scale wood whale skeleton brings focus to the quiet seating zone.

MO SHENG RESTAURANT
MO SHENG Eastern and Western tea restaurant is located in downtown Chicago features sophisticated interior elegance inspired from the beauty of nature. It serve chinese cuisine and Hongkong style dessert. The white marble columns reference condominiums of urban city. The suspended wood panel ceiling with some curl at the end and wood panel wall designed to be symbol of woods. The linear narrow suspended lighting bring the contempory look to the space and the custom lighting fixtures bring a romantic feeling to the dining area. In the dining area II, the suspended curvy white panel ceiling recalls rolling hills and clouds in traditional Chinese painting. A game of contrast is deliberately played between dark and light, and hard and soft.

BLUSKY CAMP
Location: Camp Douglas Smith Michigian
Design Solution: Camp BluSky will have an environment that inspires creation, innovation and collaboration. Each sabbatical will serve as a think tank for Fortune 500 companies, universities, start-ups as well as being an innovation camp for kids. The exterior will blend with its surrounding national park and compliment the sister camp by using local materials rich in nature’s colors. Inspiration is key, which is why the interior will unexpectedly provide a sharp contrast with modern and light elements, finishes, and technology. Custom furniture and partitions will convert effortlessly from living and privacy functions into collaborative, working functions. Camp Blusky will be an escape for companies to submerge themselves into the wilderness and encourage professionals to think outside the box by providing a blank canvas.
