On June 3rd and 4th 2023, the first edition of The City of Kings’ Show was hosted in Fontainebleau. It was the first time since 1989 that a show was organized at the Stade Equestre du Grand Parquet – a stunning location in the forest of Fontainebleau. Le Grand Parquet hosts some of the most prestigious dressage and jumping competitions throughout the year, 7 arenas with the best grounds you can find, 300 fulltime stables, a round pen, a restaurant and so on.

Fontainebleau is a historical city with its castle built in the XII century. Throughout the age, the castle was the inhabited by kings like Francis I, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Napoleon who called it “the true home of Kings”!

It is under a sunny weekend that the “international C Show” happened in the Honorary Grass Ring. The organizing committee made sure people felt comfortable and happy to be there. The great atmosphere and happy faces showed that it was the case!

50 horses were presented during the qualifying classes, we saw some nice quality especially a very strong mares’ class. Some special trophies were created to support the European breeders: each top 3 of the classes were rewarded after each championship on Sunday. The best French horse received its entry paid for the French Nationals. The trophy for the best teammates (European owner / handler and international owner / handler) was there to encourage owners showing their horses and give the opportunity of new / small owners, to experience and learn showing.

As a first-time organizer SELECT by Margot Chazel took a bet to fulfill a dream and we are all in for that! We wish the organizing team best of luck for the upcoming editions!

See you in Fontainebleau in 2024!
