HI, I'M ALINA RYSSINA I am an interior design student, working towards a Bachelor Degree of Interior Design. I enjoy both creative and technical work, with a goal to expand my knowledge. During my studies I have designed spaces for hospitality, education, retail, residential, healthcare and corporate. Along with interior and exterior design, I have been involved in product design ranging in rugs, lighting and furniture. I find inspiration in anything and everything around me. With every project I seek new concepts, new techniques, and new materials to perfectly compliment the one client and space. This portfolio is intended as a visual journey documenting my progression of work through education and practice.

SE LYD APRIL 2016 Seeing sound [see-ing sound] Se lyd [s-ay lood] Se Lyd Restaurant is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and serves upscale casual cuisine. The restaurant name is derived from the metaphor “see- ing sound” and the concept is inspired by the idea of imposing one reality on another. Intersecting planes come together exploring volumes within the space, merging simplicity with drama. This can also be interpreted through the idea of a sound wave imposing sound into a physical object. A large “sound wave” sculpture that appears to cascade off of the mezzanine onto the main level and “wrapping” around the restaurant provides a backdrop for seating, structural elements, and lighting, providing a strong contrast between the two realms. Guests will experience a stimulating atmosphere, with sightless expanding and compressing through the space.

REFORM IDEC COMPETITION SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 6 PARTNER VERON ICA DOMENICH IELLO Once a solid form - full, alive and thriving at its original state - the current Amazon Rainforest is the result of the subtraction of elements through human activities such as logging, mining and farming. However, the Amazon can be replenished to its original state through active reforestation. Inspired by the concept of reform and transformation. Reform will encourage interactive teaching methods through advanced technology and reciprocal learning, presenting new avenues for research and publication. The participants will foster relationships between faculty and community organizations, promoting future collaborative work opportunities.

AQUAZZURA APRIL 2016 Aquazzura’s Toronto based luxury boutique is directly influenced by Edgardo Osorio’s, founder of Aquazzura, values of design: drop dead glamour, modern design, and luxury craftsmanship. The space is a combination of modern minimalism of an art gallery and dynamic feeling of light and electricity. James Turrell is a key inspiration, the use of diffused light creates a blue lit canvas where the shoe can be displayed. The illuminating glow of the shoe creates the illusion of it floating in mid air. Using fine wire to create monochromatic white on white textures on walls, displays and the ceiling enhance the interest in the space while maintaining visual simplicity. The boutique is a background that is used to display the bright and exciting collection Edgado Osorio has created.

RESIDENTIAL

FLOAT FEBRUARY 2016 The design of the float home takes inspiration from the simplicity of natural elements surrounding the site. The importance of privacy is noted by using an array of partition walls to establish visual and acoustical privacy, maintaining an open connection between spaces. High upper fenestration is installed to create a secluded feel from the neighbors, while remaining connected to the landscape and environment. The window arrangement creates and illusion of a skylight, like tree tops allowing sunlight to penetrate into the house. Full height windows are used at the north east side of the house allowing clear views of the lake. The upper level and main level are designed to work together in function by having smaller zones upstairs that can be used as a retreat space, creating a comfortable and unique place for the client.
