{People are looking for art in a museum, and the art is looking for people on the street} Have you noticed that in recent years Russian street art is rapidly rising on its feet? Moreover, the boundaries between high and street art are gradually eroding. We tell how the borders in modern culture disappear and who is behind all this!

Reference: In the 80’s the question arose about exposing graffiti in the closed space of the gallery. For art dealers the issue of realizing the work of graffiti writers on the art market was acute, so the decision came in the form of a canvas. This evolved into a long dialogue of subculture and high art, which continues to this day and spawned not one dozen star names, including the notorious Jean Michelle Basquiat and Keith Harring. It is noteworthy that more and more galleries are being used to broadcast this dialogue over time. (Ponosov «Street art and the city»)

Аndrey Adno Kaliningrad Artist / Graphic Designer

W {I do not want to find my style. I want to stay in search all the time, doing and trying something new}

e already mentioned earlier the Kaliningrad “Artogul” by Andrei Adno. I would be pleased to tell more about his work. Andrew’s projects are divided into thematic series and represent technically complex multi-color abstract compositions that combine authoring characters, illustrations and fonts. The basis of creativity was a serious academic base acquired during his studies at the institute and, at the same timel, the artist mastered the walls as additional canvases: “I like those who are balancing on the verge of graffiti and conventional art.” But, the street was never its main source of inspiration, it was the old school of domestic graphic design that laid the solid foundation of style and taste: “We have deep roots, they need to be known, loved and popularized. I do not have a single graffiti magazine, my favorite style is a Soviet poster and Russian painting. “ The beginning of the cycle of works and the stage of development of the style, which Adno calls “Artogalism” was a creative crisis. “Once I ran a pencil randomly on paper, thinking: “I am a moron - I can not create anything “- and unconsciously sketched a self-portrait, which was the beginning of a new cycle of work. So, artologism has become my slogan, motto and diagnosis, “- explains Andrei.

Dmitri Aske Moscow Artist and editor-in-chief of the magazine «Vltramarine»

D We strongly recommend that you watch the recording of a series of lectures on g raffiti by Dmitry Asuke on our website. And also follow the updates of the magazine«Vltramarine»

@dmitriaske http://www.vltramarine.ru/

mitry Aske - the brightest representative of the domestic scene of street art and contemporary art. He is known for his active enlightenment activities far beyond Russia. His creative path begins with experiments on the street and by the mid-2000s he is already at the forefront of Russian graffiti. By 2010 Dmitri is moving from monumental works to creating illustrations, typographical compositions, digital graphics, and also collaborating with well-known international brands. In the same year, New York’s Print Magazine included Dmitry in the list of twenty of the most talented and promising young artists from around the world. For the first time his works were sold in 2014 at one of the group exhibitions in Moscow and the interest of collectors in his work is only growing. Aske admits - all that he is doing now, came to him thanks to graffiti. However, an irrepressible desire to push the boundaries of their own creativity did not allow us to stop writing our own pseudonym on the walls. Realizing that the graphics with letters are interesting only to a narrow circle of people, Dmitry began creating digital graphics with faces and characters, later transferring this style to monumental works. Aske’s popularity was brought by the author’s technique of creating multilayer plywood products, which formed the basis for a large cycle of works. Dmitry calls his works «Plywood Reliefs» -a mixture of relief, mosaic and stained glass, where the number of parts can reach several hundred. In the process of working on the future relief, the artist cuts out individual parts from plywood and puts it so that the gap between elements creates a contour, and several layers create a volume. Senses or messages are born during the work on sketches, and an important role here is played not only by how it can be implemented technically, but also how people will eventually perceive the works: «It’s good when there is a positive message in the works of artists. Even better, if largescale work in the public space carries a few messages. One of them should be clear to everyone, others - to leave food for thought. « The basis of the plot for the sketch can serve various visual images: photographs, plots from life and classical works of art. Experts note that in the formation of the elements of the composition, the influence of the avant-garde, neoplasticism and poster graphics of the 20th century is read. Last years

Dmitry combines rich creative activity with enlightenment. Thanks to the accumulated experience and luggage of knowledge while working on the magazine Cod Red, continuing as the chief editor of the current Vltramarine, he developed an author’s course consisting of 21 lectures on graffiti and street art. The content of the course is intended for a wide audience: those who are directly connected with art and those who simply want to learn more about contemporary culture. As part of the series of lectures, Aske tries to bring a meaningful view of graffiti and street art and systematize the available knowledge, drawing some parallels between the domestic and foreign schools.

ZUK Club Moscow Creative association of artists

{We view the ZUK Club as a club of interests for people who are close to our vision, who are ready to help with the next project and we will help them in return. It’s a club where you do not have to recount anyone, it just exists and makes a unique product }

reative association of artists working in different directions: street art, graphic design, illustration, photography, installation, etc. There are no boundaries for them, each new project is a challenge and the whole creative process is built on three pillars: experiment, total freedom and high level of performance. The association has existed for more than 10 years, during this time the team managed to present more than a hundred projects in Russia and Europe, take part in the Fourth Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art and work with clients such as Sberbank, Ahmad Tea, Sneaker Head, Black River festival and others. At the moment the team is based on Sergei Ovseikin, Kirill Stefanov, Artem Stefanov, Ilya Maslennikov, Maxim Ivanov. The ideological inspirer and founder of the club Sergey Ovseikin tells that the idea of association is built on the interest in the common cause: “We consider the ZUK Club as a club for people who are close to our vision, who are ready to help in the next project and we will help them in return . It’s a club where you do not have to recount anyone, it just exists and makes a unique product. “ In regard to intricate name initially it was just three letters, without any secret meaning or cipher, but under the onslaught of the questions the authors deciphered: “The Zebra Flew Where!” - just because it is funny. So, the zebra became the symbol and the basis of the club’s style. Due to the large scale and philosophy of the association, they do not cooperate with all projects. But too many proposals gives a birth to a new project Zukbureau. They work with bulk orders, beyond the plane drawing. In turn, ZUK Club remains as a project, which is engaged in the search for ideas.

Sunset/ Sergey Akramov Ekaterinburg Painter / Graffiti writer

S {There is a difference between just a well-made picture and work that carries emotion. This emotion is for me the meaning}

@sergeyakramov http://sergeyakramov.tumblr.com

16

ergei was born at the end of the year, December 30, hence the romantic pseudonym “Sunset”. His juicy, light-filled murals are easy to recognize by a unique style: a combination of figurative painting and bright colorful layers, impregnated with multi-colored rays of geometric patterns and abstraction. The first “feather samples” took place on the streets of his home city. However, refusing to blindly accept the “religion” of graffiti, Sergei tried to rebuild it for himself. The transition from thoughtless drawing to conscious works and projects is symbolically connected with the rejection of an unnecessary pseudonym and growth to his own name - “From Sunset to Sergei”, as the artist jokes. As a result, Sergei left classic street art for works on canvases, experiments with various techniques and formats, painting, illustration. In the stories there is no discussion about politics, social problems, as the author of the works admits to it is more interesting to find visual techniques that allow him to express feelings that sometimes are difficult to describe even with the words: “Person will understand everything and feel it, this is already part of his work. So we get dialogue through the canvas, when no other intermediaries are needed - neither the guide, nor the abstract, nor the artist himself “

Even for Peter himself it is difficult to explain what he does.

P

hotographer, blogger, writer, designer, traveler - on the one hand all these definitions are about him, on the other they diminish and draw unnecessary boundaries for creativity, in which he has long disappeared. We can say that Peter comes up with his own mythical world, fills it with heroes, publishes books about it, shoots photos and broadcasts about his adventures through the blog on livejournal and the channel Petenka Planetka on YouTube. It all began with the fact that Peter abandoned his career, acquired a simple camera and, since 2005, unfolded the boundaries of the fictional world of «costarica». Since then, he addresses his blog readers by showing a small photographic film: the maple-dead Suleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, Bessam Mucho on Barcelona streets, giraffes and the Intercessionon-the-Nerl Church, girls and star fever, Jamaica, Robertino Loretti in the middle of Russian landscapes and all this mixed with the mythical state of the soul «costarica-soul», which he possesses. In order not to confuse, let’s make a little clarity - Peter’s art can be divided into two main directions. The first is fine art, where Peter creates a fairy-tale world with his characters,

metaphors, images, - imagination, carried in photos. During the existence of world of «Costa Rica» has been filled with many characters: the Wolf-Emerald Heart, its faithful friend Odnomobogu and the real heroes of Takeshi Kitano, BG and Sathya Sai Baba. The second - travel, the photos that he takes, during his travels around the world. But, fashionable resorts and spilled in the frame «dolce vita» you will not see. The paradox is that the killed hotel rooms, the god-forgotten Indian provinces, drowning in the snows of the city of Russia, frightening religious traditions in the focus of Loving help to reject prejudices and find in all this incredible aesthetics and harmony of life. The author admits that there is no desire to create something brilliant in his works: «... the main thing is for me to produce good photographs». « And where it is not possible to say something via the photo, then words are added. Because of that at all exhibitions photos are presented with excerpts from the photographer’s blog.

Recently, Peter increasingly understands that viewers rarely find an echo of the idea that he used to put into his projects: «If you rank the most successful of my works in the field of Art Photography - the project» Takeshi Kitano and Other Icons « will take the first line in the number of copies sold. The most offensive is that there is no any intelligent idea, and the cost price was very low as well «. Therefore, in his last works Peter decided to put completely different fantasies and images into a single series, removing the secret meanings and ideas, leaving the spectator space for his own dialogue and aesthetic meditation.

To plunge into a fairy tale is easier than it seems, just discover for yourself Costa Rica. @petenka_planetka @petr_lovigin petrlovigin.com lovigin
