Rag & Bone

Spring / Summer 2014 Lookbook ‘Minimalistic Grunge’

At the intersection of craft & utility, take the road less traveled.

Rag & Bone is a label known for adding a touch of style and distinction to traditionally tailored looks. We are guided by strong British tailoring influence, and produce classic yet modern daywear with a downtown casual New York vibe. Our brand is well-recognized for being understated and wearable. Each piece is has a handmade feel with high quality fabric, classic construction, and a perfect fit. The brand seeks to blend innovative and classic fabrics, which gives a timeless feel that has modern relevance. We are consistently inspired by 90’s heroin chic grunge and dirty rock vibes of the 80’s and 90’s, and cite Kate Moss as a major inspiration season to season.

“The cool, but accessible clothing blends American Workwear and British tailoring with the unfussy look of downtown New York”

The Biker Jacket & The Monochrome Trend

Rag & Bone shows of their classic aesthetic through the monochrome trend this season, with cropped leather trousers featuring zipper detailing at the ankle, a loose white boyfriend tee that is reminiscent of the sportswear trend currently making an appearance, and the biker coat, which is a tried and true classic that is still relevant for S/S ‘14.

Glammed-Up Sportswear Trend

For Spring/Summer 2014 luxe sportswear continues to grace the runways. This season the trend takes the form of sportswear basics re-imagined in luxe materials. One major trend is the ‘dressy sweatpants’ paired with a basic tee and heels. Heels are essential to this look to make clear that this is not actually a look meant to wear for working out. Rag & Bone does this look up with a simple silhouette in mostly black, with navy and zipper accents, and an oatmeal-colored leather bomber jacket, keeping true to their minimalist and classic appeal.

The Lightweight Parka

This season light-weight hooded parkas with adjustable straps have made a reappearance. Reminiscent of the 90’s, this trend can be paired with virtually anything. But throwing on a hooded sweater vest and ripped jeans keep the look casual and cool, while heels keeps the look chic and polished.

Tribal Pattern Trend

This season Rag & Bone takes a tribal onto oversized boyfriend shirts. Tucking it into leather cropped pants keeps the trend from looking frumpy, and heels add some glamour to a look that is otherwise casual and very girlnext-door.

Muted Pastel Lavender Trend

At Rag & Bone this season, the look was used as an accent rather than an all-over look, grunging up the outfit for those who wouldn’t otherwise embrace the sugary-sweet palette. Rag & Bone also embraced the trainers trend this season, with flat black trainers finishing off this look. Textured leather, a slightly sheer tee and zipper accents add to this looks on-trend appeal while staying true to Rag & Bones slightly badass yet classically modern vibe.

Pastel-Accented Cat-Eyed Sunglasses Trend

Cat-eyed sunglasses are the IT style for spring/summer 2014. For a fresh update, we’re trying them in the trendy blush pink. Cat-eyed sunglasses are classic, flattering, and versatile, both adding to dressy outfits or accenting more dressed down and even grungy outfits. They are the kind of sunnies to keep in your purse for all occasions.

Structured Bag Trend

This season bags are all about sharp edges and angular lines. The clean, boxy black bag with a silver chain strap is on-trend and complements the modern aesthetic of Rag & Bone. The bag dresses up the casual downtown vibe of this season’s clothing.
