Coconut oil processing


Harvesting:  The mature coconuts are harvested between 2 to 20

months of age. This is when it is ideal to give a good yield of oil. Processing:  Coconut meat is processed for oil extraction.  Virgin coconut oil  Copra coconut oil


Virgin coconut oil Coconut milk extraction:  The coconut meat is desiccated and squeezed to extract the

milk. Centrifuge extraction:  The coconut milk is treated in a high speed centrifuge to

separate the oil. Fermentation:  The coconut milk is left for 24 hours to ferment and the top

layer of virgin coconut oil is removed.


Copra oil extraction ď‚— Copra drying: ď‚— After deshelling, the coconut fruit is cut into pieces and dried
