SMART WATER METERS ARRIVE! Hundreds of Allen water utility customers now have the ability to track their own water use, reduce wasted water and save money on costly leaks thanks to new Smart Water Meters. The new meters will be installed at every Allen home and business with a targeted completion date of December 2023. After receiving a new meter, customers can view hourly water use data, set up leak alerts and more using a customer portal. When will I receive a Smart Water Meter, and how do I know if my meter has been replaced? A few weeks before your meter is replaced, you will receive a mailed letter and doorhanger with details about upcoming work. After your meter is installed, crews will replace the old metal meter lid with an upgraded plastic one and leave a notice on your door with information about accessing the new customer portal. You can see where the installation team is headed next by viewing the Smart Water Meter Installation Map online. The map shows locations of all upgraded meters, along with the next 4-6 weeks of scheduled installations.

OPENING IN 2023! NEW CITY FACILITIES COMING SOON Fire Station 6

Allen’s sixth fire and final station is now under construction at Ridgeview Drive and Watters Road. Though land was initially purchased in 2008, construction was timed to happen in step with surrounding development along the State Highway 121 corridor. Fire Station 6 will have an older nostalgic firehouse design, styled with New England architecture, decorative windows and folding doors. The station is expected to open in Fall 2023.

Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center

The long-awaited Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center (STRC) is getting closer to completion, with an anticipated opening in late Summer 2023. Future visitors to the Exchange Pkwy. facility will be met with a soaring, two-story indoor playground; multi-level jogging track; weights and cardio areas; and two gymnasiums offering a total of 11 courts. Members can take advantage of included group fitness classes and childwatch services, along with discounted programs and special events.
