The increasing population demands of the nation (Ghana) requires for a number of facilities in order to ensure social and economic stability; one of them being Educational; to provide tertiary institutions to meet the growing needs of students. and another being cultural; to create places devoted to the conservation and promotion of African Culture and Arts within the Global Context

The Justification

• According to US Census Bureau (2014) Almost 1million 15 to 18 year olds are in secondary schools, set to enter higher education.

• According to UNESCO (2014) The Gross enrolment in higher education rose from 8.4% in 2008 to 12.2% (283,506 students) in 2012.

• According to Ministry of Education (July 2013) As demand for education expands in the coming years, Ghana’s Education Sector Plan 2010-20 foresees 200 new senior high schools being built nationwide

• Why The Arts?

Outlined below is an attempt to enumerate the need for an Academy of Arts in Ghana

• To provide an alternative option for students to be Educated by

• To preserve cultural values

• To research, record and transmit the History of African Arts

• To present indigenous culture to contemporary societies

• To capitalize on the tourism potentials of the nation
