Non Stop America Since 1980, commercial airplanes with more than 56 seats could fly from Love Field only to Texas cities and contiguous states.

The unique restrictions were in a

federal law known as the Wright Amendment, attributed to Fort Worth congressman Jim Wright. A compromise in 2006 altered that law, allowing unrestricted airline traffic effective October 13, 2014. That new agreement with Dallas, Fort Worth, DFW Airport, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines limited any new terminal at Love Field to 20 gates. Southwest Airlines, from its 16 gates, will launch 153 daily departures in larger airplanes. In October, direct flights will begin to Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, New York City, Phoenix, San Diego, Orange county and Tampa. New destinations in November include Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. Effective January, 2015 direct flights are scheduled for San Francisco and Oakland. Virgin America Airline will soon operate 18 flights daily from two gates with three classes of service. The remaining two gates will be served by Delta, Continental and United Airlines. New parking garages have increased available space for 7000 vehicles, plus a Cell Phone Waiting Lot. And there are three charging stations on site for electric cars. Travelers will immediately notice the spacious expanded concourses. On Love Landing, the main departure and

Love Field dates to 1927 and was Dallas’ primary airport from 1958 - 1974. The total and stylish renovation marks resumption of unrestricted air service, adding to the momentum that is Dallas. Our city was on Forbes Magazine’s list of Best Cities for Future Growth. DFW and its suburbs were also rated as the best cities in the U.S. for first time homebuyers in a ranking of the 300 largest cities’ real estate markets, job markets and community environment. DFW home values will rise at almost twice the national rate next year, according to another national study by major real estate observers. At midyear North Texas home prices are the highest ever recorded. New home prices are also at their highest level. Even though new home starts are at a high point since 2007, new home inventory is at the lowest level in years, as is the supply of pre-owned homes. Local job growth should spark more construction. Texas still leads the nation in long term employment growth, signaling a healthy economy. National trends such as interest rates and mortgage lending standards do influence home pricing, but local forces like job and income growth, development activity and entreprenuerism matter in the local market. Dallas is busting out all over. Our single-office firm made Dallas history again this year as we achieved $1 billion in sales for the third year. S. M. Wright Foundation

The S. M. Wright Foundation, established in 1998, with help from Allie Beth and Pierce Allman, provides support and stability to south Dallas children and families. Services include hunger relief, education, health, social service assistance and economic empowerment, moving all ages from a position of dependency to self sufficiency. Allie Beth Allman and Associates were the first to sponsor relief programs and, through financial support and volunteer participation, has started many of the outreach programs. The faith-based initiative includes ongoing projects: Operation Hope Food Center South Dallas Resource Center (clothing) South Dallas Community Tutoring Center Beds for Needy Kids Employment Empowerment Center In 2013, the food center fed 76,327 with over 700,000 pounds of food. Beds for Kids delivered over 1147 beds in the community. 1,529 are on the wait list. The Furniture Bank in 2013 has distributed around 4,000 pieces of furniture to 2721 families. In 2013, 5,307 families have received clothing. Over 3,000 attended the Back to School event. Easter in the Park attracts 5,000. 3100 families were fed at Thanksgiving. The Christmas project began in the original S.M. Wright church, the People’s Missionary Church. The Christmas event, with volunteers serving dinner and toys, grew from 400 to 40,000 and is now held at the Automobile Building in Fair Park.
