Making history
It’s not one agent or team that has enabled Allie Beth Allman & Associates to make history, it’s all of our agents performing at their best no matter the size of the transaction. For the first time in our company’s history, Allie Beth Allman & Associates—a name that goes back 25 years in our community—reached one billion dollars in sales in 2012. Until now that was an unimaginable feat for a privately owned, single-office residential real estate firm. It is a first for any single-office firm in Dallas, if not in Texas. This milestone could not have been achieved without the outstanding performance of our remarkable family of agents, our unique culture of networking, support and openness, our loyal clients, and especially the extraordinary entrepreneurial spirit of this great community. I truly believe that our 335 dedicated agents are the best in the business, and they deserve our congratulations for this achievement. They are the reason why we are the highest-grossing single-office residential real estate firm in Dallas. Their commitment to their clients and this family is the reason I know that 2013 will be another landmark year for our office. I hope you will enjoy reading this inaugural issue of Allie Beth Allman & Associates Magazine. Inside you’ll get to know more about your neighbors who shape this company. You’ll also learn about some of the exciting additions to the Dallas landscape, gather tips for buying and selling your home, and view collections of some notable homes in our market.

Dallas is a vibrant, ever-changing community that attracts and breeds
Why we love Dallas These are just a few of the many reasons why the agents of Allie Beth Allman & Associates love to call Dallas home. As the ninth-largest city and part of the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the nation, Dallas’ growing economy means many others are joining in that sentiment every day.
success, and Allie Beth Allman & Associates is committed to making it even better. The firm and its 335 associates are deeply involved in the schools, civic organizations and cultural tapestry that have made Dallas the number one visitor and leisure destination in Texas. This world-class city is home to five professional sports teams, more than 200 golf courses, the best shopping in the Southwest, world-renowned medical and research facilities, the largest urban arts district in the nation, more than 13 entertainment districts and so much more. It’s no wonder that Dallas is a leading corporate headquarters city. In 2012, 18 corporations here were named Fortune 500 companies, including AT&T, ExxonMobil, Southwest Airlines and Texas Instruments, to name a few. Dallas also celebrates the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University. The Bush Center includes the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, housing 43,000 artifacts, and the George W. Bush Institute, a public policy center. Visitors to Klyde Warren Park (right and below right), bridging Downtown Dallas and Uptown, enjoy walking trails, a dog park, a performance pavilion, a children’s park and a daily gathering of local food trucks. The park also provides daily free programming for the public, ranging from yoga to outdoor concerts and films.

Following the opening of Klyde Warren Park, admissions are up by more than 50% compared to the same time last year at all cultural institutions in the Dallas Arts District, including the Winspear Opera House.
Arts District is home to the city’s largest collection of buildings designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architects, and boasts an award-winning arts magnet high school, the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center and The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art. The Dallas City Performance Hall is the latest addition, showcasing a growing number of small and midsized organizations representing the breadth of artistic and cultural diversity in Dallas. In October 2012, Klyde Warren Park opened to rave reviews. The 5.2-acre deck park, designed by The Office of James Burnett, is an urban green space built over the recessed Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul streets in downtown Dallas. More than 100,000 people visited the park in the first three months of operation. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science, located in Victory Park, opened on December 1, 2012. The Dallas Morning News calls it a “world of wonder” that passes the test of school children and inspires curiosity in all ages through hands-on learning experiences. Architect Thom Mayne has designed one of the most exciting buildings in Dallas, with its crinkly concrete skin, glass-enclosed continuousflow escalator, and roof topped with drought-tolerant native Texas plants. With so much to see and do and even more on the horizon—such as the Trinity River Corridor Project, which, when completed, will be more than 10 times the size of New York’s Central Park—it’s easy to see why big things happen here in Dallas.
