10 COMMANDMENTS TO GET WEALTHY E-FILING SERVICE FOR SMALL CLAIMS COURT LIFE INSURANCE: WOULD I QUIT MY JOB IF MY SALARY WAS CUT BY $15 PER WEEK? GOT A TRAFFIC TICKET? MAKE YOUR SITE VISIBLE IN GOOGLE THROUGH G+ WHERE IS MY CAR? ROMANCE FRAUD BURN CALORIES, NOT YOUR MONEY
Failed? Do not despair! Reconsider what you have, what you can do and what you really want to do. You are never too young or too old to start all over again! Remember, there are only two ways to success: out of inspiration or out of desperation. Rise above your depression! Go to any KFC and on everything you order there, you will see a smiling face of an elderly gentleman in the white suit, white goatee and black string tie, and think of the story behind it.
Harland Sanders This is an amazing story of Colonel Sanders – the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken Harland David Sanders was born on a farm in Henryville, Indiana on September 9, 1890. At the age of six the life of the little kid was turned upside down when his father, a butcher, died. His mother, a homemaker, was left alone to look after three children. To survive, she had to take a job peeling tomatoes in a canning factory during the day and sewing at home during the night. Sanders had to take care of his younger brother and sister, learning how to cook so he could feed them while their mother was working. When he was ten, he got his first job in a nearby farm for $2 a month. Because they were so poor, Sanders had to quit school in seventh grade in order to work full time to support his family. His mother, desperate to improve the financial situation married a produce farmer, and the family moved to Indianapolis when Sanders was 12. Young Sanders often fought with his stepfather and within a year, his mother sent him back to Clark County, Indiana, where he worked on a farm for three years earning $15 a month, plus room and board. Later, he found a job as a streetcar conductor in New Albany.
He soon quit that position to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he spent about a year as a soldier stationed in Cuba. When he was discharged, Harland Sanders married Josephine King. The couple had three children. During the early years of their marriage, Sanders and his family moved to Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and finally coming back to Indiana. (They divorced in 1947.) It took a long time for Harland Sanders to discover himself, to find an occupation which he would love. Till his 40 he worked far too many jobs: sold insurance in Indiana – quit; operated his own steamboat ferry company on the Ohio River between Jeffersonville and Louisville, Kentucky – failed; took a job as secretary of the Columbus chamber of commerce – resigned. While working here, he met an inventor who had found how to operate natural gas lamps on a gas derived from carbide; he decided to buy the patent rights and launched a producing company.

But, how a gas lamp could compete with the electrical bulb?! The product was obsolete and his venture quickly fell short. After, he was a railroad man at the Illinois Central Railroad – lost his job. However, during that time, he earned a Law degree by correspondence from Southern University. A local Judge allowed him to use his Law Library and lawyers helped him by explaining Law terminology. From the year 1915 to the early 1920‟s, Sanders was practicing Law with some success working in the Justice of the Peace courts in Arkansas, but Sanders ruined his legal career getting into a fight with a client in the courtroom – what a bad temper – and failure came again. The great depression began and any employment was hard to find. Given that Sanders never had an easy time working for someone else, he finally decided to go into business for himself. At forty, he was going to start something new. In 1929, Sanders moved to Corbin, Kentucky, a small town at the edge of the Appalachian Mountains. In 1930, he opened a gas station along a busy highway 25. Often, hungry travelers asked Sanders where they could get something to eat nearby, and that is why he started serving his customers on his own dining table in his living quarters. The food was simple but tasty: pan fried chicken, ham, vegetables, and biscuits. Remember, it was the Great Depression, and Sanders‟ relatives and friends were very skeptic about the idea of an eatery but Colonel proved his doubters wrong by showing that people would still eat out if it was convenient and inexpensive for them. Soon after, more people started coming just for the food and by 1937, Sanders moved across the street to a motel and restaurant where he could seat 142 customers. To better manage the business, Harland finished an eight-week course from Cornell University. The restaurant became known for its homey Southern cooking; especially pan fried chicken. Over the next 9 years, he perfected his famous, and very secret, fried chicken recipe.
The rebuilt restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky
He often told of his search for the right recipe. It was while experimenting in his Corbin kitchen, that Sanders found his famous and closely guarded combination of eleven herbs and spices which he claimed “stand on everybody‟s shelf.” As the popularity of his fried chicken grew, his fame began to spread across the state of Kentucky. Sanders‟ fried chicken impressed the Governor Ruby Laffoon so much, that in 1935 he made Harland Sanders an honorary Kentucky colonel for his contribution to state cuisine. In 1937, Sanders tried to start a restaurant chain in Kentucky, but his attempt failed. >>>
Two years later, he opened another motel and restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina, but it failed too. For a while he put his plans for expansion on hold, deciding instead to focus on perfecting his chicken recipe. He wanted to find a way to cook chicken faster, because customers would not wait 45 minutes for a batch to be fried up in an iron pan. By that time, a new product called “pressure cooker” appeared on the market. Sanders used the pressure cooker to prepare chicken in nine minutes. He found that chicken cooked in this manner turned out to be juicy and flavorful. The goal was achieved. In 1939, fire destroyed the restaurant and motel, which Sanders soon after rebuilt. In 1949, Sanders married Claudia Ledington, a woman who worked in his restaurant. Business continued to boom, but one day The Colonel got the news of the plans for a new highway which was going to be constructed...a route which no longer would directly pass his restaurant. Harland saw his successful business dying. Forced to sell his property to pay off his debts, he was left almost broke having nothing but a social security check of $105 a month. He was 66. He could have retired and survived on what he had. Instead, with nothing to lose, Sanders took his spices and the pressure cooker and started traveling throughout the United States in his 1946 Ford from restaurant to restaurant, demonstrating his unique recipe and process to restaurant owners, offering them a deal: for every chicken sold with Sanders‟ secret recipe, he would get five cents of the sale. People close to him, tried to persuade Harland to forget about the venture, but Colonel Sanders strongly believed in his chicken idea, was determined, or stubborn, and wanted to proof to him and the others that he was not a loser. He refused to give up. In his autobiography, Life As I Have Known It Has Been Finger Lickin' Good (published in 1974), Sanders wrote that “One of our biggest problems getting started was money.” His pension merely paid for his gas and the travel needed to get the franchises started. “Lots of nights I would sleep in the back of my car so I could have enough money to buy cookers the next day if someone took a franchise,” he said. Sanders spent two years driving across the country trying to sell his product. History says that he was rejected 1008 times! The restaurant owners kicked him out and openly laughed at him. Only the prospect number 1009 gave him his first “yes.” After two years of making daily sales Sanders had signed up a total of five restaurants. He was back on track.
How much do you need to start your business? In order to get his business going, The Colonel had a social security cheque, a car, a garage and his wife. About whom he said. “She was my packing girl, my warehouse supervisor, my delivery person – you name it.” Colonel Sanders always kept a mystique about his recipe. In the early days, he hired two different suppliers to mix up different batches of spices. As the franchise expanded, Sanders continued to guard his secret recipe carefully. Even today, Sanders‟ original KFC recipe remains locked up in a safe in Kentucky, which only two or three company highest executives have access to. By 1964, Colonel Sanders had more than 600 franchises in the United States and Canada. He sold his operation to a group of investors for $2 million, as well as a lifetime annual salary of $40,000. While it was a decision he would later regret, Colonel Sanders remained an integral part of the company, serving as its spokesperson, traveling about 250,000 miles a year visiting KFC restaurants around the world, until he died of leukemia at the age of 90. This is the end of the story of Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, the “never-give-up” man. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” Keep on asking! Keep on seeking! Keep on knocking! And success will come! Prepared by Natalia Grytsan REFERENCES: • Life As I Have Known It Has Been "Finger Lickin' Good". 10 Commandments to Get Wealthy Think Big! Think Positive! All you need is one sound idea. Truly, “thoughts are things”, and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects. “More gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has ever been taken from the earth”. “Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought”. All riches began with thought.
State Your Definite Desire Think of what you really want most of all. Do not please anybody! It is only yours, only for you. Desire has to be keen, desperate, burning, pulsating and definite. It is not a hope, not a wish! It gives you no possible way of retreat. No any “if” or “would”! You have to win or perish!
Create a Definite Plan Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire and create a definite plan of 10 steps minimum for carrying out your desire. Begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action. Write Everything Down There is something magic in writing of your desires, goals and plans on paper. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intended to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the 10 step plan through which you intend to accumulate it.
Visualize Your Dream Set yourself at peace, create a “movie” or bright colourful pictures in your mind and “watch” them as often as you have a minute for relaxation. What would you really do or get if you have a million dollars? Feel it, “touch” it, and enjoy it!
Read Your Writings Twice a Day Read your statements aloud at least once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read – see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.
Set a Definite Main Goal Fix in your mind the exact amount of money (or whatever) you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want to be rich, I want a lot of money”. Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for that.)
Determine Yourself Determine precisely what you intend to give (to learn something, to invest your spare time, to improve your skills etc.) in return for the money you desire. There is no such reality as “something for nothing”.
Develop Your Faith Faith is a state of mind which may be induced by autosuggestion. Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith. “There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge”.
Do Not Be Afraid of Failure “Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit.” Failure is only really temporary defeat…and is usually a blessing in disguise. It is just a stepping stone on the road to finding what you truly love. These 10 Commandments are based on Napoleon Hill‟s books.

NEW! You can file your claim online
E-Filing Service for Small Claims Court Ontario Government has launched e-filing service for fixed claims $25,000 and under. Individuals and businesses from across Ontario can now file small claims court forms and pay court filing fees online, 24-hours-a-day. Claims that are eligible for e-filing include: unpaid accounts for goods and services; NSF (non-sufficient funds) cheques; loans; credit card debt; overdue rent; other debt owing under a contract. Ontarians have two options to file a small claim online: 1. „Filing Wizard‟ guides those unfamiliar with filing a claim through the process of submitting court documents and paying court filing fees. This option is helpful for those who do not have legal representation by providing an inexpensive and easy to understand option. 2. „Quick File‟ gives legal professionals and others who frequently file small claims the option of uploading already completed forms. Not all types of claims can be filed online. Claims for the amount of money owed is in dispute such as many claims related to personal injury cannot be filed. The fees charged to file online are the same as those charged to file in person. How it works The new small claims court e-filing service allows you to prepare and submit all required forms online, up to and including Default Judgment, pay court fees securely, and receive court-issued documents by email. If the defendant does not file a defence with the court within 20 days after you serve him or her with your court-issued claim, you may apply for – and receive – a court decision – all online.
To get started go to ServiceOntario‟s online business portal for small claims court. What happens next? Serve the defendant. Within a few days of filing your Plaintiff‟s Claim online, you will be emailed the court-issued Plaintiff‟s Claim. You will need to serve this to the defendant. There are rules about how a Plaintiff‟s Claim can be served. File proof of service. After you have served the defendant, you can return to your online claim to submit an Affidavit of Service. Request default judgment. If after 20 days no defence has been filed, you can return to your online claim to file a Default Judgement form, pay the fee, and ask the court to grant you a decision. There is the user guide that you can read for helpful tips and step-by-step instructions for e-filing your claim. What you need to file the claim To start your Plaintiff‟s Claim you will need: • the legal name of the person or business you are suing • current residential or business address of the person or business you are suing • Visa, MasterCard, American Express or access to online banking Payment and fees: If you filed less than 10 claims this year in small claims court the fee for filing a claim is $75. More frequent filers pay $145 to file a Plaintiff‟s Claim. Need to fill out an official form or write an official letter? We can help! Carlos Perdomo Licensed Paralegal 416-671-7670 cpsolutions60@gmail.com www.paralegaltoronto.ca
www.paralegaltoronto.ca
Need to fill out an official form or write an official letter? We Can Help! Writing official letters and filling out official forms for Small Claims Courts, Landlord and Tenant Board, Human Rights Tribunal, Workers Compensation Board and other institutions could be tricky and confusing. You cannot imagine how many cases were dismissed due to improper filled out forms.
Let‟s consider one example: You are a landlord who wants to evict a tenant for non-payment of rent. If your tenant has not paid the rent on the date it is due, you can give them the “Notice to End a Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent” (N4) – standard form from Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board. The rental agreement that you have with your tenant requires the tenant to pay rent on the first day of each month. On May 1st, you waited for the cheque to come; it didn‟t come; at 8pm you went to your tenant and served them with N4. 14 days were gone but the tenant didn‟t pay the rent. You went to the Landlord and Tenant Board and applied for a hearing to evict your tenant. The hearing was scheduled in 45 days.
After two months of waiting you came to the hearing but your application was dismissed. Why? Because the earliest day that you could give the notice of eviction to your tenant was May 2nd, not May 1st. You didn‟t have any other choice but reapply and wait again for the Board‟s order. Finally, you got the order but you tenant didn‟t want to move out. You had to go to the Sheriff, pay a fee and wait again. It could take 3-4 months to evict a tenant. That costly mistake happened only due to the wrong date in the official form N4. At least, your tenant was happy living for free for so long. Remember, court or board staff cannot provide you with legal advice or help you to complete all necessary forms. Do not relay on information from relatives and friends, unless they are lawyers or paralegals. At CP Paralegal Services, we offer an option that comes in handy to you: we will prepare the forms and exhibits and guide you to the Small Claims Court process or Board‟s hearing for a very reasonable price with our Limited Scope Retainer. Contact us and find out if this option is suitable for your needs.
Got a Traffic Ticket? Knowing the Options You Have Okay, for any reason youâ€&#x;ve got a traffic ticket. Now what? Now you have to consider the options you have. According to the circumstances involved and the information on your traffic ticket, consider which option to choose.
You have 15 days from the date of your traffic ticket to decide. Basically, you have three options to fight your traffic ticket: 1. Plead guilty by paying the fine (a conviction is registered). 2. Visit a court office to plead guilty but make submissions about the penalty (amount of fine or time to pay) (a conviction is registered). 3. Request a trial. You have the right to fight your traffic ticket in court. Depending on what your traffic ticket says, you may need to either mail in your ticket showing that you want a trial or you may need to visit a court office to file a request for trial. You also have the fourth option – hire a paralegal and they fight your traffic ticket the best way possible. Actually, the last option is the best. No kidding!
Remember, paying the fine is an admission of guilt. There will be a conviction registered in your driver records. You will have no chance to lower your traffic ticket fine and demerit points (if any). Do not forget, if you have a conviction record, your auto insurance will be increased upon renewal. Requesting a trial (option 3) Depending on what your traffic ticket says, you may need to either mail in your traffic ticket showing that you want a trial or you may need to visit a court office to file a request for trial.
Notice of Intention to Appear If your traffic ticket says that you must attend court to request a trial, then you will be required to complete a Notice of Intention to Appear (NIA) at the court office. It is vital that the information recorded on this document is written neatly and correctly to ensure that notification, when mailed, will be directed properly. The trial notice indicating your trial date, time and place will be mailed to you at the address indicated on the NIA. It is your responsibility to advise the court if you change your mailing address. First Attendance Meeting If you wish to meet with the Prosecutor to discuss your charge, you may attend the court office and request a First Attendance Meeting. You will be required to complete a Notice of Intention to Appear (NIA) for the meeting and a date will be scheduled with the Prosecutor. Summons If you received a summons, it will indicate a court date instead of a fine. You are required to attend court on the date indicated on the summons. If you fail to appear in court, a warrant may be issued for your arrest, or the court may proceed to trial in your absence. You may not see a Justice of the Peace before your court date, and depending on the type of offence, your matter may be dealt with by the Provincial Prosecutor. Disclosure Disclosure is a legal procedure when the defendant is provided with copies of all evidentiary documents which will be used by the Prosecutor at trial. To order disclosure, you have to go to the court and fill out a Request for Disclosure form. It takes a while so you should apply for disclosure as soon as possible. Going to Court Going to your hearing, you have to look decent, clean and professional. It could happen that your entire case can rest on your attitude. Always show respect for the court and the proceedings.
Once Convicted Once convicted, you will receive a “Notice of Fine and Due Date” informing you of your conviction and your payment due date. This notice also informs you of the actions that may be taken, (such as Licence Suspension, Plate denial, civil action and reporting the outstanding debt to a collection agency), should you not pay your fine. Ignoring Your Traffic Ticket If you do not respond to the traffic ticket within 15 days, you may be convicted of the offence you are charged with. If you are convicted you would be required to pay the set fine, court costs and, if it is not a parking ticket, the victim fine surcharge by the due date. Failure to pay the fine imposed upon conviction by the due date will result in one or more of the following: • the Ontario Ministry of Transportation could refuse to issue or validate your vehicle permit • For certain offences, including speeding, your driver‟s licence could be suspended • You will be charged an additional fee • Your defaulted fine will be referred to a collection agency and then will be given to a credit bureau Two amounts on your traffic ticket: When you take a closer look at your Traffic Ticket, you will see two amounts: one is the “set fine” and the other one is the “total payable”. The total payable consists of the set fine, court costs and the victim fine surcharge. Basically, every fine becomes a “three in one” fine, for example: 1) Fine specified by the Court – $60.00; 2) Victim Fine Surcharge, Ontario Regulation 161/00 – $15.00; 3) Court Costs $5.00. Total: $80.00 A victim fine surcharge is deposited into a special fund to help victims of crime. Its amount is usually 20% of the imposed fine. Fines over $1,000 carry a surcharge of 25%. Happy driving!
Is it a good idea to hire a paralegal to fight your traffic ticket? Actually, yes. There are too many reasons for that, just to mention a few: • First and foremost – a paralegal can save your nerves, time and money. • They have experience and knowledge to develop the best strategy for your defence. • It always takes time and needs knowing the legal procedures to get necessary information (for example, disclosure) to fight your traffic ticket. • You will not have to ask for a day off at work to request a trial date and then to attend the hearing: they‟ll come to the hearing instead of you, and you wont be involved in a stressful process. • The police officer who issued you the traffic ticket must show up at the court for hearing. If the police officer fails to show, your case will be dismissed. If you have a good reason to change a date, there might be a chance that the officer won‟t show up. You need to make your request in writing a few days in advance of the scheduled hearing. The paralegal can help you out with this. • If you got a speeding ticket, there is a legal requirement that radar guns need to be re-calibrated in a certain period of time. In reality, sometimes they are not. Paralegals know legal procedures of verifying whether this was done and documented. • Often, paralegals talk to the Prosecutor before the hearing and they are able to come out with a good deal such as: lower a fine or decrease the demerit points or both. Weigh the pros and cons of every option. Calculate the cost of fighting the traffic ticket and weigh it against the chances of getting it dismissed or reduced to a lower charge.

Make your site visible in Google through G+ In the Internet marketing world, it‟s a proven fact that search engines take social media content shares into great consideration when ranking your website in their search results. The more social media shares your content is getting, the more chances to be pushed up in the search engine rankings. If we ask you, which search engine comes first in your mind, we bet that in 99.9% your answer would be “Google”. Because that‟s where people go when they want to search for something. No doubts Google is the main game in town. Given the fact that G+ is indeed GOOGLE, what role does the search giant play in getting your business found online? And we are talking business here. So, you have to fish where the fish are.
The question is: Where to invest your time? Our answer would be: consider G+ first In social media marketing, one of the biggest challenges is determining where to invest your time. What‟s worse, the constantly changing search engine algorithms and social ecosystem means the strategy that was right a year ago may no longer be right today. SEO Republic can help you keep up with ever changing social media marketing world.
Your posts on G+ are visible in Google organic search Each and every post on Google+ has its own unique URL allowing the post to be indexed like a normal webpage. Your G+ posts receive higher visibility than the posts from any other social media. Google authorship has a direct impact on the search results you see on Google.
Anyone can see your publicly shared G+ posts Google Plus posts that you share with public can be viewed by anyone. They are indexed by Google for free. There is no need to register or login to a social media account. Does Facebook index your posts into a search engine? Absolutely not! Moreover, you have to pay to reach people who have already said they want to see your posts. Facebook shows what you post to the most engaged fans only. No kidding! Check your “Reach”!
Share high quality content with a specific keyword The only food for the search engines is a WORD. Nothing else but words. Use the appropriate keywords for your G+ post and use them properly. Google Plus is all about the quality of the content you share. The content has to be relevant, recent and accurate. So, consider professional content writing. … And if it‟s not your cup of tea, SEO Republic is always at your service.
Investing into your future Your posts on Google Plus have significant long-term advantage: by sharing your content on G+ you are making the best investments in your future business success.

Make your G+ button prominent Make sure to connect your G+ page with your website. It would be much easier for people to share your content if you include a G+ sharing button on your website.
G+ doesn’t like auto-posting G+ is “live”. When someone publishes their post, you know that they are there. Google+ only allows you to post to either circles or to a community. You cannot share to Communities AND Circles AND Individuals at the same time. G+ is avoiding auto-posting content, considering it to be of low value to its users.

Would I quit my job if my salary was cut By Olga Ryjkova by $15 per week? Toronto Life insurance Broker
There was an ad about life insurance in an old magazine: no words, just two pictures. On the first picture there was a family sitting at the dinner table: a father at the head, a mother beside him and a couple of well-dressed kids. The table was full of food, the furniture was expensive and a beautiful crystal chandelier giving bright light to the entire room. On the second picture there were the same kids, the same mother, the same room, the same table full of food, the same crystal chandelier…but the father‟s chair was empty, only his portrait on the wall. The message was obvious: the father had a life insurance. The main advantage for a policy owner is “peace of mind”, knowing that if you pass away, life insurance can provide sufficient funds for your loved ones that can: • Replace lost income • Pay off your mortgage or loans • Help with home-related expenses, utilities and taxes • Provide money for college or university fees for your children • Cover funeral costs, final income taxes and other expenses Life insurance policies can pay to the beneficiary either a tax-free lump sum cash payment or an annuity. An annuity is any continuing payment with a fixed total annual amount. Annuities and pensions that pay a benefit for life are sometimes regarded as insurance against the possibility that a retiree will outlive his or her financial resources. In that sense, they are the complement of life insurance and, from an underwriting perspective, are the mirror image of life insurance.
Life insurance is a legal contract between an insured (insurance policy holder) and an insurer (an insurance company), which describes the limitations of the insured events. Usually, the policy holder pays a premium on monthly basis. Some other expenses, such as funeral expenses, may be also included in the benefits. Common exclusions are claims relating to suicide, fraud, war, riot and civil commotion. Some life insurance plans accumulate cash values that may be taken by the insured if the policy is surrendered or which may be borrowed against. If worse comes to worst, you may use this funds for a down payment for your property, for example. The cost of insurance is determined using mortality tables (statistically based tables showing expected annual mortality rates) calculated by actuaries. Actuaries are professionals who employ actuarial science, which is based on mathematics (primarily probability and statistics). The three main variables in a mortality table are commonly age, gender, and use of tobacco. Whether a man buys life insurance or not, someone always has to pay for it; the question is who … the man or his loved ones? Upon the insured‟s death, the insurer requires acceptable proof of death (normally, a death certificate) before it pays the claim and the insurer‟s claim form completed, signed (and typically notarized). Although the owner and the insured are often the same person, there is a difference between the insured and the policy owner. For example, if Joe buys a policy on his own life, he is both the owner and the insured. But if Jane, his wife, buys a policy on Joe‟s life, she is the owner and he is the insured. The owner designates the beneficiary, but the beneficiary is not a party to the policy. The owner can change the beneficiary unless the policy has an irrevocable beneficiary designation. Where is my car?
Was your parked car impounded due to an accident while you were not present? In a very stormy winter day John decided not to take his car to work and left it parked on the street close to home. When he came back, he wanted to clean his vehicle of the snow, which surely had accumulated during the time he was absent, and put it in the garage. Surprise, Surprise! His car was nowhere to be found. Panicking a little bit, he asked a neighbour if he had seen somebody taken his car during the day. Luckily for him, the neighbour knew that due to the bad weather conditions, there was an accident in which four cars were involved and one of them was John‟s. The first question John asked himself was “what to do know”? At that time he had no clue about what to proceed.

What to do if your car was impounded due to an accident while you were not there: avoiding a nightmare
If you are involved in a situation similar to John‟s here, is what you need to do: 1. Find out where your car was impounded by calling the Toronto Police Radio Room 416-808-2222: they will inform you where your car is and who was the officer in charge of the incident. 2. Go to the place in which your car is to have an idea about the damages. 3. Go to the Division that the Officer belongs to, to speak whit him or her and request the accident report. 4. After having the report, call your insurance company to report the accident: usually, in your insurance slip you can find that number at the bottom of it, and provide as much details as you can about the accident. The insurance adjuster will ask a number of questions for about 20 minutes, therefore, have all information pertinent ready: policy number, drivers licence, etc. You will be assigned a claim number and it would take a few days for the Insurance Company to make a decision. The adjuster will contact you and explain the reasons of that decision and your options. Remember: • You have the right to choose where your vehicle will be repaired (if it‟s not a complete loss). • DO NOT SIGN ANY PAPERS AT THE IMPOUND PLACE, wait for the Insurance Company to suggest one or if you know a reliable shop, request that the vehicle be send to that place. Who is going to pay for your damaged car? There are three scenarios: 1. The driver who caused the car accident was identified – The Insurance Company of that driver will pay for your damaged vehicle. 2. The driver who caused the car accident was NOT identified and you have FULL COVERAGE AUTO INSURANCE – Your Insurance Company will pay 3. The driver who caused the car accident was NOT identified and you have LIABILITY AUTO INSURANCE – You will pay from your own pocket. I hope that this information can help you out.

Romance fraud continues to claim untold hearts and dollars
Huge financial losses due to romance and dating scams continue to mount according to members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Anti-Rackets Branch. According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), in 2014 there were 1,467 complaints from Canada of romance fraud. Of those complaints, 998 victims were identified and their combined financial losses exceeded $13.9 million, second only to wire fraud. The criminals seek potential victims online, generally single or recently unattached people. Usually this form of mass marketing fraud occurs through singles and dating-related „meet‟ websites, social media platforms, or e-mail blasts. In some cases, prolonged interaction with individuals has cost some victims tens of thousands of dollars before the „relationship‟ ends, usually without ever meeting in person. Although 95% of all types of fraud are not reported, romance scams cause victims severe financial hardship and personal embarrassment, which inhibits their decision to report the crime. If you suspect you or someone you know has been a victim of romance fraud, or if you have already sent funds, don‟t be embarrassed – you‟re not alone. Contact your local police service or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 FREE (TIPS) or online at https://www.tipsubmit.com/.
Tips to Avoid Being a Victim of a Romance / Dating Scam: • Don‟t give out any personal information in an email or when you are chatting online. Educate yourself. Check the person‟s name, the company name, and the addresses used. • Ask yourself – „Would someone I have never met really declare their love for me after only a few letters or emails?‟ If the answer is no, report it to police. • Never send money, or give personal credit card or online account details to anyone you do not know and trust. A request to send money to a foreign country to someone you have never personally met should be a red flag. • Checking website addresses carefully. Scammers often set up fake websites with addresses that are very similar to legitimate dating websites. Source: ttp://www.opp.ca/
