Camilla Morris Key Driver In World Of American Bus Tours dominated profession.” Meanwhile, she’s president of the Bus Association of New York State. In 1988, Morris took a second job at Oneonta Bus Lines as a tour escort, serving refreshments and accompanying passengers throughout the day. “It’s hard work!” she said. When a full-time position coordinating overnight trips opened up, she took the job and, training under owner Larry Hilts, was named a manager in 2007. Her son Robert is a manager beside her, and her mother works as a tour escort on one of the 13 buses. Twice a year, Oneonta Bus Lines publishes a brochure of nearly 300 trips, ranging from casino days to Broadway musicals, even “mystery tours,” where passengers don’t know where they’ll end up when they board the bus. “The challenge is finding something different to do,” said Morris. “One time, we took everyone to the Zippo Lighter factory in Bradford, Pa. never taken a motorcoach group,” she said. “We had 50 passengers, and we’re still selling it today. Now spas are huge in the motorcoach industry.” And sometimes, they stay close to home, serving as ambassadors for Otsego County. “We transported the Wounded Warriors when they came to Cooperstown,” she said. “It was an honor to be of service to them, since they were of service to us.” And with a new tour season beginning, Morris is looking forward to planning new trips, including a Halloween tour of Salem, Mass. “It puts Oneonta Bus Lines Ian Austin/ OTSEGO.life on the map,” she said. “It’s Son Robert Morris helps mom Camilla in managing and deploying the 13 a good place to be.” coaches owned by Oneonta Bus Lines/Eastern Travel.

James Joseph Sampson, 99; SUNY Professor Excelled On Dance Floor, Golf Course ONEONTA – James Joseph Sampson, 99, a SUNY professor who taught teachers in Indonesia and Brazil, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Fox Hospital. He was born June 19, 1914, in Everett, Mass., the son of the late John F. and Bertha M. (Randall) Sampson. Jim and his wife Nancy met at a dance at Bridgewater State. Part of Jim’s charm was his polish on the dance floor, and he and Nancy danced every other dance together for the rest of the night. On Aug. 13, 1942, Jim and Nancy married in Wollaston, Mass., and danced together through 68 wonderful years of marriage until Nancy’s death on Nov. 14, 2010.
