After Year In Limelight, The Happy Day Arrives For Winning City Couple WEDDING/From B1 ruin her Big Day, though, and she laughed easily as her bridesmaids kept her spirits up. The wedding ceremony was at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Teressa Sivers presiding. “They wrote most of the ceremony themselves,” she said. “That makes it even more special.” The bridesmaids and ushers walked down the aisle to “Pachelbel’s Canon,” followed by the ring bearer, Kelton Ryan, 4, the bride’s cousin, who carried a “Here Comes the Bride” banner and wandered into the aisles, perhaps looking for a shortcut to the altar. And when the chamber ensemble played “Here Comes the Bride,” Dan’s face lit up. The ceremony included a reading from First Corinthians – “love is patient, love is kind.” The audience joined in to recite “The Celtic Blessing.” The Sand Ceremony followed, with the couple pouring different colored sands from two vessels into one, representing that their lives can no longer be separated. It’s a ceremony, Sivers said,

that has replaced the Unity Candle in recent years. The reception was at the Holiday Inn/Southside, and the couple’s first dance was Tim McMorris’ “Overwhelmed.” And then it came time for the speeches. “We made our own mud masks from lake mud and went swimming until our lips were blue,” said Maid of Honor Athena Leverock in her toast. “I couldn’t imagine doing these silly things with anyone else, but I’m glad she found someone to do these silly things with.” The co-best-men played it a little more raucous, with John Ellis joking that he’d called the Oneonta Police to dig up some dirt on the groom, “But they didn’t have anything to say except that he was a perfect guest when he stayed over,” he teased. David Criscolo added, on a more serious note, “Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Guenther, Mr. and Mrs. Decker, for raising two wonderful people.” Dinner was roast beef tenderloin or chicken with lemon sauce and, during dinner, guests were asked to fill in a book with advice and well-wishes. Glasses were tapped often and each time, the happy couple obliged with a kiss. When it came time for “The Shoe Game” – the bride and groom have to raise their shoe if they think they’re the best driver, the hottest-tempered or the bestlooking – Jessica won in the tie-breaking “Who wears the pants?” The couple will be leaving for their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic Dec. 1, after taking advantage of having all their family in town for Thanksgiving. “We didn’t want to just leave everyone,” said Jessica. By the Monday after, Jessica still had stars in her eyes. “I thought it went amazing,” she said. “I had so much fun, and everyone was telling us it was the most beautiful wedding they’d ever been to.”

Source of Information and Assistance The State encourages you to become informed about your options in foreclosure. In addition to seeking assistance from an attorney or legal aid office, there are government agencies and non-profit organizations that you may contact for information about possible options, including trying to work with your lender during this process. Foreclosure rescue scams Be careful of people who approach you with offers to “save” your home. She taught history and social studies at Milford Central School for 20 years. She was elected to the town board after retiring in 1979. She was a member of Milford Methodist Church. For many years after retirement, Mabel spent winters in Palmetto, Fla. Passionate about American history, Mabel enjoyed visiting historic sites, especially in New York and New England, as well as reading biographies and collecting antiques and postcards. She was a founding member of the Milford Historical Association, but also followed current events closely. For years, she played golf with the Monday Women’s League at Cee-Jay (now Colonial Ridge) golf course. She played bridge and was an avid fan of college basketball and Major League Baseball. Mabel enjoyed gardening and tending her blueberry bushes. Those who knew Mabel felt her sincere interest in their lives, and it was a joy to hear from a former student or have one visit. She treasured her friendships and was proud of her family, the center of her life. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her son and daughterin-law, John and Debra Chase, Scottsdale, Ariz., son, Thomas Chase, Binghamton; beloved granddaughter, Mackenzie Snyder Chase, Brookline, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was at Milford Methodist, with the Rev. Rose Bellen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Milford Emergency Squad, Milford, NY 13807 or to the Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820. Arrangements were entrusted to Tillapaugh Funeral Service.

When he emerged, he picked up the canoes and brought them home. The veteran merchant had been honored for his contributions to local retailing in 2008 by the Future For Oneonta Foundation. Stevens raised a family on Goodyear Lake, including daughter Francine Stevens Bailey, who helped him at the store during his later years, a son, and grandchildren.
