Whether it’s creating your own design, selecting a colour, decoration process or even packaging - anything is possible! Our experienced design staff will walk you through the entire process from concept sketches to finished product, meaning that you don’t need to be a designer or have any manufacturing know-how to create your perfect garment. Costs - The DIY service is unique to each customer, so if you contact our DIY team we will be happy to tailor a quote to your exact needs. Lead Time - Varies from garment to garment but regardless, your order will be a priority at our factories and could be delivered to you in as little as 4 weeks. Transit Time - Choose from sea-freight, airfreight or road transport where available. Shipping from Africa by sea takes 6 weeks to Northern Europe so a little advance planning, especially on larger orders, can soon reap rewards for both the planet and your pocket. Good Natured Clothing ‘Sustainability’ has become the byword for environmentally sound and socially responsible production with organic cotton being considered as one of the most sustainable fibres for textile production. Launched in 2005, our ‘Tender Loving Clothing’ (TLC) range of organic cotton clothing is made exclusively in Tanzania. It is GOTS certified and made using 100% organic African cotton. The organic cotton that we use offers many benefits to the community and local environment, some of which are given:

Better for the environment by avoiding chemical pesticides and fertilizers, that would otherwise pollute the land, water and air

Better for plants and animals (many bees and frogs are disappearing because of the widespread use of pesticides)

Oeko Tex Association They test garments and raw materials against the Oeko Tex 100 standard, to ensure no harmful substances or dyes are used at any stage of the production process or are left in residue on any finished garment. We hold the Oeko Tex 100 certification for our entire collection and include ‘Class 1’, covering the most stringent safety tests for babywear. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified by Control Union The GOTS certificate is a guarantee that the organic status of textiles is maintained from the harvesting of raw cotton to the point when the finished garment is despatched. It further ensures this is done through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing processes. Organic Exchange (OE) A charitable organisation with a focus on promoting organically grown cotton. We are members of the OE and meet their manufacturing standards. Control Union An independent accredited organisation that audit and have certified our organic cotton supply chain against GOTS. This covers the production, processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, export, import and distribution of all natural fibres. EcoCert International Governed by public authorities and legislation, EcoCert provides inspections and certification of organic produce. They also verify the conformity of our organic cotton from Uganda. Bio Inspecta They provide independent auditing, accrediting and certification for thousands of organic products worldwide and issue certification for our organic cotton from Tanzania. Ethical Fashion Forum A trade association for the fashion industry focused on social and environmental sustainability. We won their RE:Fashion ‘Manufacturer of the year ‘award in 2008 after they profiled us, citing Mantis World as an ‘exemplary ethical business’.

Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) Si tratta di un ente no-profit che si occupa di migliorare le condizioni di lavoro nella nostra catena di produzione, attraverso l’applicazione di criteri sviluppati insieme all’UIL (Ufficio internazionale del lavoro), l’OCSE (Organizzazione per la cooperazione e lo sviluppo economici) e le Nazioni Unite. Gli stabilimenti con cui lavoriamo sono controllati in base al codice di condotta standard BSCI e coinvolti in un programma di miglioramento continuo. Associazione Oeko Tex Effettua test su capi di abbigliamento e materie prime in base alla norma Oeko Tex 100 per garantire che durante tutte le fasi del processo produttivo non vengano utilizzate sostanze o tinture pericolose o che sui capi finiti non restino residui chimici dannosi. La nostra azienda ha ottenuto la certificazione Oeko Tex 100 per tutta la collezione, oltre a rientrare nella “Classe 1” che prevede rigorosi test sulla sicurezza degli indumenti per neonati.

Assicura inoltre che ciò avvenga applicando processi di produzione socialmente responsabili e rispettosi dell’ambiente. Organic Exchange (OE) Si tratta di un’organizzazione benefica che si incentra sulla promozione della coltivazione biologica del cotone. Mantis World è membro dell’OE e ne rispetta gli standard di produzione. Control Union Ente indipendente accreditato che controlla e certifica la nostra catena di fornitura del cotone biologico in base ai principi GOTS, comprendendo le fasi di produzione, lavorazione, manifattura, confezionamento, etichettatura, esportazione, importazione e distribuzione di tutte le fibre naturali. EcoCert International Organizzazione disciplinata dalle autorità pubbliche e dalla legislazione che controlla e certifica i prodotti biologici. Si occupa inoltre di verificare la conformità del nostro cotone biologico proveniente dall’Uganda. Bio Inspecta Fornisce consulenze indipendenti, accreditamento e certificazione per migliaia di prodotti biologici in tutto il mondo e ha certificato il nostro cotone biologico proveniente dalla Tanzania. Ethical Fashion Forum Associazione di categoria per il settore della moda che si occupa della sostenibilità sociale e ambientale. MANTIS WORLD- THE FIRST AND NEXT 10 YEARS Too often portrayed in the media as barren and helpless, Africa is one of the most vibrant and lush places on the planet, and it was here 10 years ago that we set up our first partnership with a local clothing manufacturer in Tanzania. Situated in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro and with a fully vertical operation, they have been producing yarn, fabric and garments including Masai robes since the 1960’s. It was their importance to the local economy and community as well as their sound working practices and dedication to quality that made them ideal partners with which to launch our first collection. They have worked alongside us ever since and now employ over 2,000 people. It is the template of this relationship, which has been the cornerstone of the developing Mantis World business and we now follow the same philosophy with each factory in our supply chain. From Turkey and Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, our aim is to keep money in the local economy by working in partnership with our suppliers - agreeing a fair price and promoting sustainable production. We believe that when you experience a Mantis World garment, you too will be convinced that fashionably-led, ethically made clothing is possible without having to compromise on quality.

Mantis World - Die ersten und die nächsten 10 Jahre Afrika wurde schon viel zu oft von der Presse als stagnierend und bitter arm porträtiert, dabei ist es eines der aktivsten und faszinierenden Örtlichkeiten dieser Erde. Und es war genau hier, wo wir vor zehn Jahren unsere erste Partnerschaft mit einem örtlichen Bekleidungshersteller in Tansania eingerichtet hatten. Trop souvent décrite dans les médias comme aride et sans ressource, l’Afrique est en réalité un endroit débordant de vie et de richesses naturelles : c’est là, en Tanzanie, que nous avons créé notre premier partenariat avec un fabricant local de vêtements, il y a tout juste 10 ans.

Representada en los medios de comunicación con frecuencia como una tierra árida y sin recursos, África es uno de los lugares más hermosos y exuberantes del planeta, y ya han pasado 10 años desde que establecimos nuestra primera asociación con un fabricante de ropa local en Tanzania.

Troppo spesso descritto dai media come povero e senza speranza, l’Africa è uno dei continenti più vitali e lussureggianti del pianeta; è stato proprio qui che dieci anni fa abbiamo definito la prima partnership con un produttore locale di abbigliamento della Tanzania.
