The Detailed Eyelid Surgery Overview
The Eyelid Surgery Overview includes everything about the procedure that why is it performed, what are the results and who is an ideal candidate for the surgical procedure. The eyelid surgery is also alternatively known as eyelid lift surgery or the Blepharoplasty. The name ‘eyelid lift’ is a bit confusing as in the surgical procedure the eyelid is not lifted at all by any means. The surgical procedure starts with the removal of the skin and then the fats in the eyelids are added or removed. The types of eyelid surgical procedures: There are two types of eyelid surgical procedures, namely upper eyelid surgery and the lower eyelid surgery. For the upper eyelid surgery, the incisions are made over the upper eyelash in order to add, remove or adjust the amount of fats in the eye. After the necessary changes are made, a very thin stitch is then used to close the incision and also to make a crease on the operated eyelid. In the other type, the lower eyelid surgery, the incision is made either directly below the eyelash line or otherwise the incision is made inside of the eyelid which is also known as the transconjunctival method or approach. The transconjunctival method is ideal in the sense that in using this approach, the access is gained to the eyelid without putting any visible incisions and the results achieved are finer and better. It is also the method which can be used in combination with the laser resurfacing procedure of the eyelid skin which reduces the lines and the wrinkles present in the area. Why is the eyelid surgery performed? The excessive skin, especially in the upper eyelid of the people may make the eye look too big with aged signs, puffiness and sometimes it also results in poor vision due to blocked vision. The upper eyelid surgery can be performed to remove excessive fats, thus improving vision. The double eyelid surgery, which is also sometimes called the Asian eyelid surgical procedure, is aimed at for creating an upper eyelid crease.
The lower eyelid surgery is also aimed at the removal/ addition of skin, which reduces wrinkles and enhances the shape of the lower eyelid. The tightening of the eyelid can also be done in this procedure which can improve the loose skin and the droopiness of the eyelids. The addition of fats is needed for improving the hollowed looks of the eyelid. Conclusion: The eyelid surgery is aimed at adding or removing the fats in the eyelid for enhancing the shape of the eye. Sometime people due to excessive fats in the eyes have blocked vision, which is corrected using the eyelid procedure. Eyelid Surgery Before & After Photos:
