What is Lutherans Outdoors? Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota provides camping and retreating programs for people of all ages and all abilities. Lutherans Outdoors is owned by the congregations of the South Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Wyoming Conference of the Rocky Mountain Synod, and is open to people of all denominations of faith. Lutherans Outdoors is comprised of four sites around the state of South Dakota, each highlighting the geography of the area and providing a specialized faith experience.

Saddle Up - Beginning Riders Grades 5-10 $350 Early Bird Rate - $421 After April 15th Do you love horses, but have not spent time riding one? This week is for you!Learn the basics of horsemanship and build up to riding on the beautiful prairie surrounding Klein Ranch.

Wrangler or Counselor in Training (WIT / CIT) Grades 10-12 $375 Experience a new side of camp! For those who have interest in becoming a wrangler or counselor at Klein Ranch, this program gives you a chance to shadow and train with staff, assisting with all aspects of leadership with campers and horses. One week of training is mandatory, choose to come back for one or two weeks to work side-by-side with staff for no additional cost. 6

Youth Camp Grades 3-8 $395 Early Bird - $421 After April 15th Grow into the person God has called you to be during a week of camp. Spend time with friends and experience the excitement of camp: swimming, fishing, playing games and worshiping around a campfire.

1-2-3 Camp Grades 1-3 & Adult 1-Night: Adult-$95, Child-$45 2-Night: Adult-$135, Child-$60 Come, explore camp! This program offers a chance for 1st-3rd grade campers and the adult they bring to pack all of the camp experiences into 24 or 48 hours.

Want to dip your toes further into the camp experience? This 3-day camp is for you. This half week camp gives you the chance to explore deeper into the camp experience, preparing you for a full week next year.


Grades 5-8 $395 Early Bird - $421 After April 15th Share your musical talents in voice in producing a Christian musical. In one week you will learn your lines, design the set, and be ready to perform on Friday night for family and friends. This week also includes regular camp activities.

Counselor-in-training Grades 10-12 $375 Experience a new side of camp! For those who have interest in becoming a counselor at NeSoDak, this program gives you a chance to shadow and train with staff, assisting with all aspects of leadership. Mandatory training takes place June 28July 1, choose to come back for one or two weeks to work side-by-side with staff and other campers for no additional cost.

Horses With A Heart Grades 8-12 $399 Early Bird - $425 After April 15th This unique camp week invites young people to experience how horses can be used to serve and heal. You will work with horses each day and be leaders for our Riding for a Reason program that is a riding program for people with disabilities.

Peer Ministry Grades 9-12 $329 Early Bird - $355 After April 15th Facilitated by Suzanne Hansen of the SD Synod, in small groups, peer ministers learn ways to become welcoming and accepting, awareness of the hurts and needs of others and how to be caring listeners. 3-night program.

Grandparent Camp Grandparents and Grandchildren 5th Grade and Younger Adult $299, Child-$149, Family Max-$799 Make life-long memories with your grandchildren! You and your grandchildren will live an old west adventure as you sit around the campfire under a blanket of starts and take a buggy ride. Camp – ABLE Ages 11-17 $329 Early Bird - $355 After April 15th Camp-ABLE is for youth with disabilities. Are you ABLE to do camp? You bet! Joy Ranch will make sure the camp experience is accommodated so that all kids may have the full camp experience - waterfront, horses, games, campfires, new friends, and faith formation. A one to two counselor to camper ratio means each camper’s needs are thoughtfully met. Camp is an experience every kid should have, and Joy Ranch is going to make sure it happens!

New Explorations Adults, age 18 & older Pricing below Dates: June 15, July 9, July 30 New Explorations is for adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities, living independently or in group home settings. “We Get It” Family Camp All Ages Adult-$299, Child-$149, Family Max-$799 This camp is for families with a parent or child with a disability. You’ll step back in time to an old west time, to rest, relax and spend time with your loved ones. During buggy rides and pioneer bar-b-ques you will be able to have conversations with other families who “get” what it means to have a family member with a disability.

Vacation Destination 3-Nights Adults, age 18 & older $309 Vacation Destination is for adults who have developmental and/ or physical disabilities who come to Joy Ranch with a caregiver. Once registered, you will work with a personal vacation planner to help schedule your activities at the ranch, such as horseback and buggy rides, fishing, pontoon rides, crafts, campfires, karaoke, street dances, and more! Most Vacation Destination experiences are three nights, but there is also an opportunity for a fivenight stay - if you are interested, sign up for Vacation Destination EXTREME, June 28 - July 3.

Old West Get Away 5-Nights Adults, age 18 & older $499 The Old West Get Away is for adults who have developmental and/or physical disabilities who come without a caregiver. Joy Ranch staff will pair with groups of 2-3 participants to ensure your vacation is the perfect Old West Get Away. Hike and canoe, ride horse, worship around a campfire, meet your camp counselor and friends, and experience many more activities.

Learn the ropes of camp staff duties the first week, then return for a second and third week to work side by side with our summer staff and younger campers. The first week is mandatory training. This is a 3 week program.

SunCatcher Service Experience Grades 8-12 $399 Early Bird - $425 After April 15th Service participants will learn to lead horses, assist riders and celebrate the independence and joy that riding offers people of varying abilities. You will be assisting in leadership for those participating in the program through the SunCatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy – children, teens, and adults with disabilities and disadvantaged children.

Black Hills Adventures Grades 7-12 $399 Early Bird - $425 After April 15th This small-group experience includes fullday adventures in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Adventures include your group’s choice of: Hiking a peak or overnight backpacking Biking the Mickelson Trail Kayaking Caving Service project Low ropes challenge course & trail ride Adventures are available for group reservations during the weeks of June 1419th through August 2-7th. Native American Experiences Grades 9-12 Group Fee: $3840/12 youth & adults $320/each additional person Choose from one of our three opportunities to learn more about the Lakota culture either in an urban environment or on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Pine Ridge (June 7-12, June 21-26, June 28-July 3) Spend the week on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Learn about Lakota culture, work on a service project, meet Lakota youth, and hear from elders. Pine Ridge New Program (June 14-19, July 5-10, 12-17) Spend the week with Larry Peterson – long time leader in Native American ministries working on a building project, learning about Lakota culture, and getting to know local Lakota people. Woyatan Lutheran Church (July 19-24 or July 26-31) You will stay in a Rapid City church. The week will include a pow-wow, visiting with Lakota elders, Kid’s time, service work, a day trip to Pine Ridge, and a hike up Bear Butte.

Registration Policies 1.Registration for camps will open the first Monday of November. 2.All weeks and space will be filled on a first come, first served basis. 3.For online registrations. You will receive an email you have created an LO camp account (adult name) with Active Network if you don’t already have one. Next pick your week and register the participant online. Once fully registered, you will receive a second email confirming your spot in a week of camp. Online registration is preferred. 4.Individuals/families may reserve space by sending in a completed registration form and deposit. 5.Groups may reserve space by contracting with the registrar for the specific dates and number of spaces needed. 6.Deposits of $125 per person are required with registration. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable to another individual taking that person’s place or to attend another week at an LO camp within the same calendar year. 7.Information sheets, health forms and billing statements will be sent to the email you provide at registration. 8.Total camp fees are due approximately 2 weeks before attending your week of camp. 9.A service charge of $25 is added to campers cancelling within 2 weeks of the camp date or not notifying camp they are not attending. A$10 late fee will be added to late payments.
