Preface

You are about to experience a visual history where a photographer captures the beauty of nature as it is now, to have it preserved from time and erasure in one perfect click.

From many photography trips, where the author started creating his style, to photography tours provided to photo curious people, the author shows his passion for Winter landscapes and Autumn colours. From time to time, city landscapes also happen as he is willing to capture the contrast of the manmade beauty with his usual work. Night lights are his preferred city scenario to bring out that contrast.

On his mission to capture beauty, Pedro feels thankful for the great privilege of being able to do his work while experiencing the world at its best. From Iceland’s Ice Caves and Puffins (the cutest bird ever!) to Patagonia’s Milky Way, passing by Sørvágsvatn also known as Leitisvatn, a lake over the ocean in the Faroe Islands, he wants us to experience the most beautiful sites as he experienced them.

On these pages you will find as well, pictures captured during a singular flight that was scheduled to happen in 2020, to photograph Icelandic rivers which, due to Covid 19 pandemic, was postponed to 2021, and with that, he was able not only to see the rivers but to fly over and witness an active volcano, and even from so high, open the window and feel the heat on his face, something he will never forget. You will find these and other images from astonishing places in the world, that will make you feel like you where there as well.

Exploring his newly found passion, he found the love for long-exposure photography, which made him look at what he saw from a different perspective, and I dare to say, from a different lens. After 18 years of continuous improvement, he still didn’t change his preferred technique, but added some others that you will be able to enjoy as I did.

This book is a glimpse into Pedro’s romance with photography. As he always loved to travel, which he started doing from a very young age with his parents, photography appeared as a way of keeping travel moments to remember later, a habit that became a passion and turned upside down the way he looked at travel, now he doesn’t photograph because he travels, he travels because he photographs.
