It seems a fantastic paradox, but it is nevertheless a most important truth, that no architecture can be truly noble which is not imperfect. John Ruskin

The project analyzed word imperfection which led to the study of cracking. Cracking further led to paint cracking. The analysis of paint cracking consisted of two parts: development of analog model and analysis of the analog model. Analysis helped with creating rule grammars for cracking which laid the foundation for the design of Learning Center.

Federal Courthouse Thesis Mobile, Alabama
Project: Courthouse Goal: Using shape grammars to
create design language for federal courthouses
In this design and research studio we focused on how grammar studies can inform a typology and overall systematic approach to a federal courthouse. While exploring different schemas from rule composition, we incorporated a modular system that defines the circulation pathways of the all the different users that interact in the courthouse.

This house was designed for a client who was interested in Montenegrin vernacular and Tuscan villa style. There are two dominant materials used in this project. Stone is used to put an accent on the house and to distinguish the two levels. The house is located on a steep hill and faces the Adriatic coast. The breathtaking view inspired large window openings and spacious terraces.
Penthouse Personal Projects Bar, Montenegro The design of this penthouse tries to incorporate domestic materials in a contemporary manner. The penthouse follows the domino house principle, there are no partition walls. The design uses both straight and curved lines to allow for balance of forms.

House “Gretva Personal Projects Bar, Montenegro
Project: House Location: Bar, Montenegro Goal: To provide a subtle yet visu-
ally appealing contemporary form and unique experience of the user.
The design for the House Gretva is inspired by standard brick design, and incorporates straight lines and edges. The house uses two domestically abundant materials: brick and concrete. The use of two distinct materials allows for dialogue creating contrast which brakes the monotony of one or the other material. Revit + Photoshop
Restaurant “Avlija Personal Projects Bar, Montenegro Project: Restaurant Location: Bar, Montenegro Goal: To integrate a traditional Montenegrin courtyard design in the interior of a restaurant using traditional materials; local wood and stone .

From texture to volume An investigation in quasi-crystaline systems The relation between texture, pattern, and massing is a fundamental question in architecture. Classical architecture, as Alberti states in “De re aedificatoria, is developed through massing and structure first then adding texture afterwards to give the bold massing and the structure beauty. Rather than starting with a volume and applying texture afterwards, the Crystal Palace started with textural operations that informed the overall volume later. This stere metric, top-down methodology is questioned through the bottom-up methodology of Crystal Palace. The project explores the possibility of a self-organizing tiling system to generate space and structure. Girih tiles can only be connected in a limited variety of ways. Digital design tools allowed us to create self-assembled spatial constructs. This process was transferred as a self-guiding assembly process in physical space. The three-dimensional results as a consequence is challenging our perception. From different viewpoints in the space the pattern logic reveals itself only partially and can only be assembled to a whole by physically moving through the space.
