LANTING KOTAMARA BUILDING

Top 10 Sayembara Bank Kalsel, held by Bank Kalsel and IAI Kalimantan Selatan.

Status : Design Proposal

Bank Kalsel plans to build a new building to meet the operational needs of the bank. In the construction of the 2 office buildings of Bank Kalsel, it is hoped that apart from being able to fulfill its main function as a banking service office also expected to strengthen the identity of Bank Kalsel and become a landmark of the City. Banjarmasin and South Kalimantan.

To became landmark of the city, we dig what Banjarmasin had in the past and there was a story about a Floating Fort that stood firm and was composed of typical Kalimantan wood which was known for its strong and hard character. This fort is difficult to penetrate by bullets or cannons of the invaders, the fort is called Lanting Kotamara. We used Lanting Kotamara as approach design so The New Building of Bank Kalsel, which has the character, spirit and philosophy of Lanting Kotamara, hopes to become a landmark, identity and pride for South Kalimantan.

Site located in downtown of Banjarmasin, next to existing building of Bank Kalsel. Location is flood prone area and has high density of rain fall also has strong wind from the southeast. In wider context. there is a lot deforestation in Kalimantan. which is one of the causes of climate changes. to respond that we used green building approach to design.

Bank typologies is often give impression of being an exclusive building and has special requirentment that makes people reluctant to come. To avoid this we added a commercial area program for the public to attract people. This area became the foyer to the bank program.

GRAND NATURE RESORT

Location : Batu

Grand Nature Resort is a villa complex located in Batu City, East Java. It’s located on a steep cliff and has a view of mountains across the site. Site is directly adjacent to the brantas river. This design using nature-based approach to maintain contours and make the villa blend with nature. The Villa consists of 3 main programs, Villa. Convention Center and Commercial Area. There are also several supporting facilities programs such entertainment area, outdoor sports arena, Gym, riverwalk, outdoor park.

Paglak is a traditional building from Banyuwangi, in the form of a simple small hut without walls, made of bamboo and roofed with palm fiber or woven bamboo. with a general size of 2x3 meters and built with a height of about 10 meters above the ground. Paglak Installation is an offer of speculation, as well as a stimulant and multi-interdisciplinary simulation to experience and share the future based on the past. The paglak, which is swaying in the wind, becomes a picture of the present that is able to swing back and forth to the past and the future.

This Paglak installation serves as a critique and at the same time a self-reminder, by asking again: as long as we work as architects, what have we done (and will) do to this earth where humans live? Have we wisely shared the past for a more meaningful future?

Future is a time or period of life that we will experience and have in the future. then, what are the criteria or timeframe to be called the future? is that in century size? decade? or year? or even one second after you read this, can be called as the future? If so, does the future not exist? because we will pass too. because the future will be the present too.

Sharing the future can be said to be sharing the present as well, including sharing what we stand on now. The Earth. Meanwhile, according to the data. The number of human beings continuos to grow, but the earth we inhabit remains. So nowadays, we must be wiser in using the area of our earth, so that the next generation still has the opportunity to use the earth in a sustainable manner.

SHARING THE FUTURE = SHARING THE PAST

The present is accumulation of what we and our predecessors did. With that premise we can take conclusion that sharing the future is sharing the past. metaphorically if we want to be able to see far ahead, than we stand in high place, in order to see wider horizon. By using the past as standpoint which we figuratively as “higher place” we can look far ahead (future). in terms of the sustainability of the earth and the height of the standpoint as talked above, we can learn from Paglak. Paglak is an offer of speculation, as well as a multi-interdisciplinary stimulant and simulation to experience and share the future based on the past. The paglak, which is swaying in the wind, becomes a picture of the present that is able to swing back and forth to the past and the future.

from Paglak we also learn to respond and anticipate that residential areas and green areas will run out by changing the program and building typology so that it harms the earth as little as possible. thus we will have space and land savings for the next generation.

This spirit and approach can become an open speculation and a catalyst that can spark the production of discourses and various perspectives in both architectural and other disciplines.

Based on original Paglak, we breakdown each paglak component and created various permutation of Paglak. And turn out it can be endless permutation based on each added component. So on Bintaro Design District we propose to build Traditional Paglak.

School typologies often become boring and only emphasizes functional aspect. based on our research, 25-30% of school area is used for corridors and only used for circulation from one room to another and makes corridor as residual space.

Ciputra Kasih School is 4-Storey building, located in Citragrand, Semarang. in this design we repurpose Corridor as a new learning spaces, repurposing it for more productive uses, free up for more social spaces and collaborative space, More flexible space to achieve sustainable learning environtment.

ADE HOUSE

Ade House is a 2-Storey house, located in Selat Golf, Citraland, Surabaya. This house is designed using tropical architecture approach to respond context and increase comfort in the house. Which is shown by the use of passive air cooling such cross ventilation and shadowing. to maximaze thermal comfort. This house has 4 Bedroom, and has swimming pool as center point of the design. Material used on the facade of the building is textured plasterd cement with calm painted render finish to accentuate the wood material.
