IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN 5 NOVEMBER - 21 DECEMBER 2012 5 - 7 DOVER ST. LONDON W1S 4LD
IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN Alon Zakaim Fine Art is proud to announce our winter Impressionist and Modern exhibition, being held at our Dover Street gallery. We are pleased to enclose within this catalogue various important acquisitions of major works by the leading artists of this period, such as Camille Pissarro, Emile Othon Friesz, Louis Hayet and Jacques Lipchitz. We are proud to include Pissarro’s Juin, Temps Pluvieux, Eragny in this collection of available works. Painted in 1898, this delicately rendered oil depicts the meadow in front of the artist’s house at Eragny, a tiny village on the banks of the Epte. Pissarro painted over two hundred oils in the two decades he lived here towards the end of his life. Juin, Temps Pluvieux, Eragny was immediately highly praised by critics and the public, along with other views of Eragny which constitute Pissarro’s largest and most significant body of work within the landscape genre.
The exhibition also contains the important fauvist landscape Automne à Honfleur, la Côte de Grace (circa 1906 - 07) by Emile Othon Friesz, as pictured opposite. This work originates from the series of ten influential paintings completed by the artist on a visit to Normandy, commonly referred to as the Côte de Grace series. Louis Hayet’s Bord de L'Oise à l'aube, Pontoise (1888), stylistically influenced by the Pointillists and painted two years after the artist met Seurat, as well as other impressive works by important representatives of Impressionist and Modern art are being showcased. Works by key proponents of PostImpressionism, including Armand Guillaumin, Gustave Loiseau, and Blanche Hoschede-Monet, as well as the highly sophisticated Post-Cubist work of Robert Marc, are also on display. The exhibition will run at 5 - 7 Dover St., London W1S 4LD from 05 November - 21 December 2012. Entry is free, and gallery opening hours are 9am - 6pm, Monday - Friday, or by appointment.
