TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS Alpina engineers developed the Alpitex membrane based on years of experience, research and refinement. The membrane is water-resistant and allows for good boot ventilation and provides additional comfort.

Breatheable premium upper. For the first time in the world of racing, the circulation of air enables your foot to remain dry and keep your power kick at maximum. On the critical parts of the boot for the high performance, where breathable upper meets the carbon sole, a thin layer of special membrane is placed to prevent any possible water invading.

SYMPATEX waterproof membrane Alpina boots are made with sympatex, a recognized water-resistant membrane that protects the foot from any unwanted moisture. At the same time, it provides good ventilation, which means the boot is well suited to all kinds of weather and conditions.

Thinsulate insulation provides ideal conditions for the feet, keeping them twice as warm as in other linings. It allows the foor breathe and provides extra warmth and comfort, even on unusually damp or cold days

The widely recognized and respected Vibram sole delivers unrivaled firmness, ensuring a steady hold on any and all surfaces, no matter how challenging-the best you can have between your foot and whatever stands below.

The volume control plate, positioned under the insole, allows for precise adjustment of boot volume, independetly, for the left and right foot-because not all feet are created equal. Removing the plate provides greater shoe volume.

Alpina's unique fully integrated InTemp heating system keeps your feet comfortably warm at all times, but never overheated.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS LEATHER

LEATHER THICKNESS

TOP GRAIN LEATHER Top Grain leather refers to the process of sanding away the natural grain from the top surface of the leather. Once the outermost layer of the hide is removed it makes the leather thinner and more workable for the manufacturer. Alpina selects Top Grain leather for its strength, stain resistance and ability to hold its form. This is particularly important to ensure comfort and fit for the wearer.

NUBUCK Nubuck is top grain leather that is created from the outer side of a hide. The fine grain noted for its velvet like texture and extremely lush appearance. The grain has not been processed, but it is brushed and polished give a slight nap of short protein fibers, producing a velvet-like surface.

NAPA

2,0-2,8 mm

0,9-1,4 mm

The leather comes from hides that are treated with chromium salts and dyed during the final stage of production. It has a soft and fine thin grain texture. Because of its flexibility, absorption properties and durability it’s used in the tongues and collars of premium boots.

1,4-2,2 mm

BOX Box Leather is taken from the hides of calves and has a pliable feel whilst being firm in consistency. It has hard wearing characteristics and thus normally used in tactical and other heavy-duty boots.

SPLIT LEATHER

Split Leather is produced from the fibrous or lower part of the cow rawhide that was left after the top-grain has been separated away. The process of splitting the hide creates smaller sections or cuts of varying thickness and quality. Key features: durability, ability to hold colour when dyed and it comes in a variety of thickness grades depending on the use of the boots.

1,8-3,0 mm

BYCAST LEATHER Normally it is used in areas exposed to high level of abrasion. Material is made with a split leather backing covered with an embossed layer of polyurethane or vinyl. This is laminated to the surface and then embossed with a leather grain giving the material a slightly stiffer feel.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS GUIDE TO A GOOD LEATHER CARE HOW TO PROTECT YOUR LEATHER HIKING SHOES? To help your boots last longer and perform at their best, you need to clean and condition them regularly. Take out the laces, and brush off any loose dirt with a soft brush. If the sole of your shoe has caked-in mud, use a brush with hard bristles. Clean them sooner rather than later so the leather doesn't dry out. Regardless of the material, dirt should be removed as soon as you've finished hiking. For more thorough cleaning, add running water and whatever boot cleaner you have chosen. Once water is fully soaked into your boots, apply the conditioner or waterproofing treatment. Read and carefully follow the application instructions for your product. Use leather conditioners with a waterproof breathable lining, because they won't affect leather natural breathability. For some more heavy-duty protection for smooth, full-grain leather, you can also use wax but when it is used on nubuck leather it can change the appearance of your shoes. Dry boots at normal temperature in a place with low humidity. Do not use a heat source. You can also stuff newspaper into the boots to speed drying. Store boots where temperatures are stable and normal.

SOLE FEATURES FLEX Different outdoor categories demand a different types of shoes. That is why we need different types of soles and with the combination of upper materials, we also get different flexibility of the shoe. Mainly, shoes should serve its prime purpose, giving us the ultimate outdoor experience. With the right sole choice, we can surely achieve that, either we need stiffness and reliability or softness and comfort.

SOLE TYPE The sole is usually made up of several layers. Caracteristics of the sole is defined by the sole components within the layers. The insole lies under the footbed and is usually quite thin. The midsole lies between the insole and the outsole and may itself consist of several layers of shockabsorbing and stiffening materials. The outsole contacts the ground and has deep-lugged surface of tough rubber to provide friction and avoid slip on any surfaces. We use full ruber soles, PU midsole combined with rubber outsole and EVA sole with thin rubber outsole-mostly for casual and sneaker models.

PU MIDSOLE

EVA

LACING

FIT The design and shape of the internal part of the shoe provides optimum fitting. Wider comfort fit for classic and casual group; the medium dynamic fit that falls between the two for hiking, approach and similar active groups. All fit configurations take into consideration higher and lower variations in foot form, wider and narrower foot shape.

RUBBER

SPEED LACE Fast and reliable lacing technique for optimal fitting. It allows the adjustment of the internal volumes of the shoe and compresses evenly around the foot simply and quickly, making the fit more precise and customized, offering maximum experience on any terrain.

DYNAMIC COMFORT

ANATOMIC FOOTBED Insole contributes significantly to the vertical stability of the foot, providing a high level of comfort and improves the thermal insulation of the shoe.

How do you measure your foot size:

You place a piece of paper on the floor next to the wall and step on it with your heel touching the wall. Mark where your biggest toe ends on the paper and repeat the same with the other foot. Step off the paper and measure the distance from the end of the paper to the mark you have recently drawn.
