The first thing I would recommend in order to improve your onsite SEO (search engine optimization) ranking are some tips that you need to do inside your Webpage/Blog: 1 - Publish your site when you think it is done and the public can have a nice experience. Do not use previews or drafts versions. 2 - Have the site name/description somewhere inside a page and in the title. Example: this site has the title "Improve Google PageRank" which is the main focus, and also in the Home page, the description contains some nice keywords. This is because Google also considers the density where keywords appear. It is hard to know the exact density to use because nobody know the algorithm that Google uses, but I recommend not to repeat keywords more than 3 times inside the home page. 3 - Create Meta Tags. Some people say that this has no effect at all nowadays, buy my recommendation is that it won´t hurt you to had these special tags. If you need an example on where to include this, just look at the source code of most websites (View -> Source). Example: meta name="keywords" content="page rank, SEO, Google" meta name="description" content="This is a short description of your site" It is also recommended to respect a certain order. That would be: title, keywords, description. Canonical Link Element: Recently, Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft announced support for a new tag that cleans up duplicate urls on sites, specifying preferred version of the URL. This way you can have more control over the URLs that search engines uses. For more detailed information and examples, please take a took at the Official Google Webmaster Blog The syntax is quite simple: link rel="canonical" href="http://www.improve-rankings.com/free-web-directories.html" 4 - Using flash is ok, but do not overuse it. Having one animation in the main page is fine, but remember that a lot of flash might also slow the navigation and that is something you don't want for your followers. 5 - It would be good if your site have some images. If it does, remember that Google has the

image search, so try naming your images containing a keyword that describe it best. Also, you may want to add a description for more information on the image. Images can also have its own description. To include this, just use the "alt" tag. Example: img src="Image.png" alt="Image description" 6 - Check your site statistics. If you have a paid hosting, it´s more likely that they will provide you with some nice tools on statistics. If not, Statcounter is a great free tool for this purpose. Check your visitors, pages that they come from, used keyword, etc. 7 - Is your code following the right standards? You should consider writing proper HTML/CSS a must. Having well written code will help you significantly to increase your popularity with robots. This means that Search Engines will find your site easier than others. So, to validate your code-behind, go to the official Markup Validation Service. To validate style sheets (CSS), use the URL: "jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/" To validate HTML, use the URL: "validator.w3.org/" (This website also support validation of XHTML, SMLI and others.)
