Tips on Building a Ring for Some Backyard Wrestling Find a suitable place to make the wrestling ring. It should be flat and without any obstructions. Decide on the ring size next. Professional wrestlers use an 18' x 18’ ring, but you can make it smaller. Prepare the following materials. Requirements Cement Hooks Waterproof material 4 posts Saw Sewing machine Ropes Tape measure Plywood Foam Post digger Step 1 Cut enough foam to fit the ring. Make it 4 inches thick. Put the waterproof material over the foam. If you want to conceal the entire foam, sew a few tarps. This will keep the ring dry even during the rainy season. Step 2 Cut plywood and make it the same dimensions as the foam. Put this below the foam. Glue the two together if you like. Step 3 Dig holes for the posts at the four corners of the ring. Make each hole 12 inches deep. Insert the posts in the holes. Pack some cement or dirt in the holes to keep the posts standing up. Apply foam over each of the posts. Put the foam in the same manner it was put on the mat. You can use elastic bands or foam for the corners. Step 4 As you continue building a wrestling ring, make sure to connect hooks at outer corners of the posts. These hooks must be of the same height. The number of hooks to use depends on how many ropes are going to be used. The hooks will be utilized to fasten the ropes into place. Three to five ropes are used for these rings. Step 5 After you thread the hooks into the ropes, loop the rope on the post. The ring is finished. You can put on some trimmings. You can paint the mat or add a logo.

Tips and Warnings Do not put the hooks on the corner posts sides that are in the ring. Someone could get hurt if they come into contact with the hook. Push and pull the ropes a bit before using it. Make sure that they are secured on the hooks. Extra strong ropes will be needed if physically large people are going to bounce off it. Implement safety rules for the wrestlers. Don't do risky moves like climbing on the top rope and jumping outside the ring. You should also avoid moves like piledrivers, hitting each other with chairs and slamming on tables. These actions can lead to serious injuries. References: http://www.buildables.net/how-to-build-a-wrestling-ring.html http://www.mightyguide.net/how-to-build-a-wrestling-ring.html
