From the Publisher.. success [ suhk-ses ]
Definition of success noun the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goals. the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.
How do you define success? Everyone has a different definition. As life comes and goes, our definitions may change, but true love and care stays. I hope that when I am gone, I will be remembered as someone who loved others and helped them succeed. Then I can say I was successful.
The past few years, I have become absolutely in love with shooting and teaching others to shoot. I particularly love teaching women how to protect themselves. The smiles on their faces when they realize they can shoot correctly and accurately are enough to make my day better. Especially for those who may have had a traumatic experience, working through their fear and helping them become empowered is a better feeling then anything I can attain myself. For me, the main success in life is surrounding myself with friends who love and care for each other. I am so lucky to have so many wonderful people that I can count on, that I love, and that love me. There is no outward sign to others that shows success. There is only what is on the inside that creates smiles, tears, laughter, and concern for each other -- love. I have only a few really close friends that I trust with telling my “secrets,” but those few are enough.
May God bless you and yours,
What is your definition of success? To so many, success is measured by wealth and possessions, things others can see and thereby measure someone’s worth. My definition is a little different. Success, to me, involves how we treat others and the impact we leave on their lives. For years, I have spent a lot of time helping others – whether that was people, pets or organizations. I continue to do that on a regular basis. Many times that includes using my businesses – whether the magazine, the photography studio, or the gun range. There is nothing better than to see someone smile who hasn’t smiled in a while or help someone accomplish a goal who needs help to do so. As I have gotten older, my personal involvement in non-profits has dwindled. I just do not have enough time in the day to help, so I have learned to say no to being physically present, but say yes to helping in other ways. It is so wonderful to know that in a small way, I contributed to helping so many non-profits attain their goals. They, then, can go help others.

Debbie says that she has been blessed that the successes in her life have outweighed the failures. She considers her marriage of 31 years and her two sons as her greatest personal successes. However, her latest definition of success has centered around getting healthy and investing in herself. Debbie was introduced to the Optavia program, which radically changed her life more than the obvious way. This program not only helped her lose the weight she had lost and continually gained back again, but it also helped her gain self-confidence, a healthy relationship with food, a community of like-minded people, life-long friendships, and the ability to supplement her income. “I have struggled my entire life with my weight. I was a sugar addict, and I ate my emotions. After I taught my dance classes, I would come home tired and hurting in my hips and feet. I had tried almost every program out there to lose the weight, only to gain it back when I fell into bad habits,” Debbie says. “This is the only program I have been successful at with losing weight and keeping it off. The education side of the program and having a health coach walking beside you are the keys to its success.” It all started three years ago when a childhood friend told Debbie about the Optavia health program. Debbie saw her friend’s success and reached out to her to see how she was losing weight. “I wanted to lose weight, but my mindset was not where it needed to be. I thought I could do it on my own by returning to one of the same strategies that worked in the past. That strategy, and others I tried, didn’t work,” Debbie says. “If I could do it alone, I would have already done it.”
In the back of her mind, Debbie kept thinking of the Optavia health program. Then, she saw a picture of her and her younger son that was taken last September. “I knew then I had to do something. As a wife and mother, my health always came last. I was knocking on 200lbs,” Debbie says. “I called this friend, and the rest is history. I started in October and lost 50 pounds in 5 ½ months.”

Debbie Bricker’s personal definition of success is attaining the outcome for which you strive. “Success can be tangible or intangible. It’s not about wealth or prosperity. It’s about what’s important to you as an individual. Like so many people, I used to think success had to do with how other people saw or thought of you. But that way of thinking put others’ definitions of success on me. You must have your definition of success that hinges on what’s important to you, not the other people around you,” Debbie says.
Billing Coordinator at Texarkana College, Certified Independent Optavia Coach, Dance Instructor at Judith McCarty School of Dance
For Debbie, this was the first time she had made her health a priority. It was easy, convenient, and sustainable, and Debbie started losing inches immediately. Her husband and sons have been incredibly supportive. They know how important it has been for her to get healthy. “Before I started the program, I sat all of them down and asked for their support. I wanted to be healthy for me, but I also wanted to be healthy for them. They are my WHY! My husband is a Type 1 diabetic who may need health assistance in the future. I want to be able to do things with potential grandchildren in the future! I want to enjoy myself in retirement,” Debbie says. “I also know that God gave me this body. I was not treating it in a way that was pleasing to Him. My coach and my family’s support have helped keep me on track and allowed me to reach my goal.

Their support of me has meant the world to Debbie’sme.”advice to others is first to have the right mindset. She says that she literally would have eaten cardboard and sold everything in her garage to lose weight. She had even considered weight loss surgery.
“You have to do it for yourself, not for other people’s opinion of you. And it’s not just about losing weight. It’s about what you gain along with that. Find someone who has been in your shoes and has the tools to help you. Find your WHY!” Debbie says. “Also, trust the system. It works if you follow it. Give yourself grace when you mess up. Don’t allow others to influence your journey negatively. It is your journey, not theirs.”
From the beginning, Debbie’s coach told her that she would inspire others. People were already noticing her success and commenting on it. “The natural thing for me to do was to pay it forward and teach others how to change their lives as well. They wanted to know what I was doing, so in January, I became a health coach and was certified by my company in May. But after I shared in the success of my clients, it became more than that for me. I love the program and have seen how it can change lives. I truly believe this program can work for anyone,” Debbie says. “Seeing people’s lives change is the best feeling. Knowing you get to share that with them is amazing. Coaching is a natural extension of sharing the lifechanging experience the program has had for my family and me.”
Another benefit of working with the company has been financial gain for her family. Initially, she started coaching to pay for her food, but now, her goal is to help pay for her son’s college tuition. “At some point, I will retire from my full-time job. That will give me more time to devote to my coaching, which will help supplement my retirement income and give my family financial freedom,” Debbie says. “The team I am a part of is a family. My clients are my family. I want to let everyone know how incredible this program is and how life-changing and a blessing it has been to me. If I can be successful with it, anyone can.”
Owner of Pleasant Grove Family
Torin Marracino knows success can be viewed in many different ways. He knows that some people look at how much money or how active their business is as a way to see success, but Torin defines success by looking at the relationships a person has with their family. “I want to be a ‘present’ husband and father. I feel like my wife and daughter are the only ones who can acknowledge whether my life has been a success or not,” Torin says. “If I am the husband and daddy they needed, my life will be a success.”
definition of success has changed tremendously over time.
One of Torin’s long-term professional goals is to build his own dental building within the next few years. As for his personal goals, Torin wants to live life more like his wife. “When I look at how she lives her life, it makes me strive to become a better person,” Torin says. “Overall, no matter what I do, I always hope to improve myself for my family.”
Torin feels that marrying his wife, Michaelyn, and having their daughter are his greatest accomplishments. “I have no idea how I got so lucky. Every day I wake up and wonder why the good Lord blessed me so much when I got to marry my wife in 2018. Then, I have no words that can express my pride and love for our daughter,” Torin says. “I have a saying that I truly believe: Every man should have a daughter. It’s just magical, the bond that you have with Torin’sthem.”
There are several people that Torin says have supported him on his journey to success, starting with his parents. They never liked seeing B’s on Torin’s report card, and they instilled the importance of school in him from an early age. He also credits Dr. James Kitchens with a strong influence on his life. “He has been a brother to me my entire life. He’s why I went into dentistry and passed many of the classes I had to take to get into and through dental school!” Torin says. “But, probably the biggest support in my life is my wife, Michaelyn. She’s my rock; my dry erase board to bounce ideas off; she’s everything to our family!” Torin lives by two main pieces of advice in his own life. First, surround yourself with like-minded people and stop with excuses. “The only thing excuses are good for is preventing you from accomplishing your goals,” Torin says. “Also, I had a professor tell me in dental school that ‘Failure is only an option to start over; this time more wisely.’ This has really stuck with me over the years.” Torin has learned a lot through the events in his life, and he hopes to share that wisdom with his daughter and coworkers. “I tell everyone my goal is to raise my daughter to walk with the Lord and have respect, morals, and ethics. So I feel like my experiences in life will be shared with her throughout her life,” Torin says. “Professionally, I hope to share much of my dental knowledge with Dr. Nick Cockerell, who joined our team in August of 2021.”

Growing up, he always thought of success as not living paycheck to paycheck. “As you mature, you realize that your friends and family could care less about how much you have and more about the person you are and the time you spend together,” Torin says.

Tylesha (Ty) Mosley currently works as patient access manager for R1 RCM, a contract company that handles hospital revenue. They are housed in the Paris Regional Medical Center. She also models for Sister Babyz Boutique as their curvy model. For Ty, the definition of success comes down to two words: peace and contentment. She came to this realization after several setbacks in 2019 and 2020. “After relocating to Paris in 2019, my life took so many turns I couldn’t keep my head on straight. Moving from what I knew to a land of uncertainty, I had to find ways to cope,” Ty says. “I went into a major depression within the first few months I relocated.”
018 ALT Magazine | September 2022
ROSS-MOSLEYTYLESHA
During that time, Ty lost her beloved pet, her grandmother, and her two great uncles, had thyroid surgery, experienced the pandemic with the rest of the world, and was fired by the company that relocated her to Paris. “Those who know me know my work ethic and know when I do something, you can count on me to do just that. I had never experienced that level of hatred and betrayal from a company ever in my life. For almost a year, I lost myself,” Ty says. “So many had no clue what I was dealing with because I continued to be me through it all. Although I cried daily, I was still there for others. I tried to complete several things but couldn’t get it together. I was hurt.”
However, in the midst of all of the hard times, Ty also met her nowhusband, got engaged, bought a house, and got married. “One day, after talking to my husband, it finally hit me: God is still good no matter what my current reality looked like. There was no apparent lack in my life. I couldn’t go shopping as much as I wanted, but there was no lack. I began to look over my life at that very moment, and it hit me like a ton of bricks: I’m still blessed,” Ty says. “I began to use that time off from corporate America to focus on my health, mental and spiritual wellbeing. After soul searching, praying, crying, and therapy, I finally reached a level of peace and contentment.” Through it all, Ty never lost her desire to help others, which motivated her to get more involved in her new community. This past year, she was able to team up with a local outreach to host Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She also contributed to this organization’s fundraiser goals. “Even now, I continue to stay active in my community and strive to be a sounding board for those who may never get a chance to speak up,” Ty says. “I feel successful because I never gave up on myself even when the odds seemed too heavy against me. That may not sound like much to others, but when you have been so low that dirt covered you, that’s a major feat. So, with my chest poked out, I now say that I’m very accomplished and successful.” Like many others, Ty’s definition of success when she grew up centered around things like cars, houses, money, clout, and titles. It was easy to believe that if she didn’t have these things, she wasn’t successful, but her interpretation has changed over time. “Although it’s nice to have all those things, if you don’t have peace from it, it’s not worth it. I’ve witnessed so many people work themselves into an early grave. I’m all for hard work, but you must have a balance. One thing is certain: bills will always be there but not the ones you love the most. We all have an expiration date, so live your life and be happy in everything you do. If that career, house, car, spouse, or whatever it is, is stealing your peace of mind and joy, it’s too expensive to keep,” Ty says. “When my previous company fired me, I felt like a failure. I felt empty, but looking back over that time I was employed with them, the joy had left my life. I knew it was time to leave that place, but I was scared. I feel like God protected me from something coming down the Patient Access Manager for R1 RCM
019ALT September 2022 line for them, so He had to shake things up for me to leave.” Looking back, Ty says she can also see how strong the influence of God, her family, and her friends were during the most challenging times of her life. Even when she did not feel like trusting in God’s direction for her life, she says He still showed Himself to her. She knows God orchestrated her marriage with her “fur children’s” dad, Shanchez Mosley. “I had absolutely no desire to stay in Paris nor even get married at that point in my life, but I’m telling you, God worked everything out,” Ty says. “Also, my sisters, Monique and Tishara, have always been ‘Team Tylesha.’ They have always been my protectors, and I’m truly thankful for them. So many times, I would call them and cry, and they would let me. They also corrected me when I was wrong. Correction is a big thing when you’re trying to become successful. You must have someone who sees beyond what you see and stops you from making mistakes.” Even though she didn’t tell many of her closest friends what she was going through, Ty says that many just continued encouraging her and checking on her. “They honestly kept me from drowning,” Ty says. “Cherish those in your life who want better for you. They’ll be the drive you’ll need to continue to move forward with your success. In times such as those, be sure your circle has your best interest at heart. They’ll push you when you can’t go any further.” Ty has several exciting plans and goals for the future to help share what she’s learned. One of her shortterm goals is to complete something she has put on hold for over two years. She says she does not want to ruin the surprise but will reveal it all soon. Also, her long-term goals include continuing curvy modeling, representing more boutiques on a global level, and traveling the world more. “Life is precious and short. It’s time for me to live!” Ty says. “Never give up on yourself. You are and will be your biggest cheerleader. You will also be your biggest critic. Remember, it’s also never too late to try again. You can go back to school, you can start that business, you can get married, you can do whatever it is your heart desires as long as breath is in your body. It’s ok to stop and take a break, but whatever you do, don’t give up. Take time to reset, take time to have a pity party, even take the time to do other things, but when your heart keeps bringing you back to it, don’t let it go.”

Brooke recently traveled to Spain by herself to play softball with a team representing America. “This trip was incredible. It taught me how to be independent and enjoy every little moment. I will cherish the experience forever, and I’m so grateful I was able to go,” Brooke says. “I am working towards becoming the best player I can be so that I can help my college team. There are many talented players, and I have to work hard to earn my chance on the field.” To get to where she is today, Brooke credits her friends, family, and coaches for not letting her give up when things got difficult. “All my friends and family have been supportive of my softball career, and I’ve had several great coaches, including Alex Burns, Terry Snyder, and my dad. These coaches worked with me for several years and continually pushed me to get better,” Brooke says. “My parents are also one of the main reasons I stuck with softball. They always encouraged me to go to practices or workouts and took me to countless tournaments over the years. I could never thank any of these people enough for all they have done for Whenme.”

However, I realized over the years that winning is not what it’s all about. You could win a game but make four errors in the same game. Now, success is thinking about the mistake you made and learning how to prevent it from happening again.”

As she looks forward to her college softball career, Brooke also looks forward to opportunities to work on herself.
“I’ve learned that I am my biggest competitor. Softball is a mental sport, and you must have the right mindset to play the game. You can’t let your failures or others’ successes drag you down. If you compete against yourself, you’re always going to get better,” Brooke says, “In the end, my definition of success is being able to take your mistakes to make yourself better. Success is failing, but not quitting.”
“I love to be around younger players and help them grow their love for softball,” Brooke says. “My advice for others would be to stick with the course. You’re not always going to win every game or tournament, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get better. If you stay dedicated and find the right teams and coaches for you, you never know where this game could take you.”

Dr. Mark Allen received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1991 from Texas A&M University and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1997, where he was awarded his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors. He is certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist in Texas and an Optometric Physician in Arkansas.Dr.Allen is currently a Doctor of Optometry at ArkLaTex Eyes in Texarkana, where he provides wellness and diabetic eye exams, fits glasses and specialty contact lens, and examines for myopia control management. He is also very experienced in treating and managing ocular diseases and disorders such as Dry Eye Disease.
Dry eye is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory disease that occurs when tears cannot properly lubricate the eyes. This is caused by either a decrease in tear creation or an increase in tear evaporation. If not treated, dry eye can cause lasting damage to the corneal surface and declining vision. Estimates show that currently between 16 million and 49 million Americans suffer from Dry Eye Disease.
HOW IS DRY EYE DISEASE DIAGNOSED?
026 ALT Magazine | September 2022
WHAT IS DRY EYE DISEASE?
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
Dry Eye Disease is diagnosed after a thorough evaluation of the tear film and oil producing glands of the eyelids. At ArkLaTex Eyes, we use the sophisticated Oculus 5M imaging system to evaluate non-invasive tear break up time, tear quantity, debris in the tear film, oily layer of the tear film, redness score, dry spots on the cornea or whites of the eye and eyelid oil gland imaging. We evaluate the salt content of the tears using Tear Lab and our doctors use video imaging to evaluate and document the function of oil producing glands at the eyelid margin. We also use validated questionnaires to evaluate symptoms.
WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR DRY EYE DISEASE? There are several options of treatment depending on the severity and progression of your Dry Eye Disease. For Dry Eye Disease due to evaporation of the tear film, our office uses Lumenis IPL (intense pulsed light) - the only IPL device approved by the FDA for the treatment of Dry Eye Disease. iLux by Alcon may be used to express the meibomian glands. Punctal Plugs are an in-office procedure that may be utilized to increase tear quantity. Prokera amniotic membrane, which has natural anti-inflammatory and antiscarring properties, may also be used to treat severe Dry Eye Disease issues. Prescription eye drops and oral medications are also commonly used. If your Dry Eye Disease is mild an at home treatment plan may be recommended.
Uncontrolled severe Dry Eye Disease can cause permanent damage to your eyes. The long-term effects include eye infections, corneal ulcers, and vision loss. ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL PRODUCTS THAT YOU RECOMMEND OR USE IN YOUR OFFICE? Products that we use and recommend are Oasis, Zocular, and Eye Eco products. These products include, preservative free tears, eyelid cleansing sprays/pads, Omega-3 vitamins, beaded masks, and eyelid/facial serum.

DR. BRILEY HEARN, O.D.
Dr. Briley Hearn, O.D., grew up in Avery, Texas, and attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, before moving to San Antonio. After years away from her Northeast Texas home, Dr. Hearn is moving back to the area to join the optometry team at ArkLaTex Eyes, which has locations in New Boston and Texarkana. “I love the feel of Texarkana. It has the charms of a small town with many of the benefits of a larger city,” Dr. Hearn says. “My husband and I are already actively looking for a church to get involved with, and I plan to join some local clubs and organizations. I’m always looking for more opportunities to get involved and give back to my Dr.community!”Hearnismarried to Dalton Hearn, who is originally from Arkansas. The two met in college and married in 2020. “We love the fact that by moving back, we can get the best of both worlds—and in this case, states—living in Texarkana,” Dr. Hearn says. Since Dr. Hearn has worn glasses since the age of ten, she has always been acquainted with her local optometrist. “I still remember putting on my first frames and being blown away by the detail of the world around me. I’ve always wanted to help others have that same feeling,” Dr. Hearn says. “My optometrist was a huge inspiration to me. He truly knew and cared for his patients in a way that can be rare, and I saw the impression he made every day. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be like that.” In order to follow her dream, Dr. Hearn graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. After finishing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Hearn attended the University of Incarnate WordRosenberg School of Optometry, where she graduated cum laude. Now, she is joining the practice at ArkLaTex Eyes. “The level of professional care offered at ArkLaTex Eyes is outstanding. From my first moment touring the office, I was impressed by how state-of-the-art everything was,” Dr. Hearn says. “The clinics have top-notch equipment, fantastic doctors, and knowledgeable staff. I’m excited to join such a wonderful team!” Dr. Hearn believes the most rewarding aspect of optometry is the impact made on each individual patient. She is trained in all aspects of optometry with a special interest in primary eye care, ocular disease management, pediatric eye care and myopia management. “I want to help every patient I see through quality eye care, personal connection, and professional courtesy,” Dr. Hearn says. “ I know how meaningful the gift of sight can be and hope to improve people’s quality of life through optometric care.”

It was special because..
June 4, 2022
Jon Robert & Michala were raised in Texarkana, Texas. They both attended Pleasant Grove ISD from kindergarten through high school but were just acquaintances. Michala secretly admired Jon Robert through the years, but they never had any opportunities to get to know one another until one pre-AP Algebra class. Michala thought she finally had her chance when they were seated next to each other, but Jon Robert couldn’t have blown her off quickly enough. Michala’s crush quickly turned to dislike until the day their lives changed forever. They both attended the annual academic award ceremony, and it was customary for all of their friends to go out to eat after to celebrate. Michala was the socialist who seemed to always arrange these outings, and Jon Robert was the quiet, reserved introvert. Michala spotted Jon Robert standing around with their mutual friends and realized he was the only one who was not invited. Michala decided to kindly extend an invite to Jon Robert, and he excitedly responded, “yes!” Since that day, they have talked every day, and eight years later, on June 4, 2022, they finally got married. We decided to keep our wedding traditional and did not have a “first look” before the ceremony. This caused a lot of nerves, but it was our favorite ceremony moment. We will cherish the moment when the church doors opened, time stood still, and I saw my husband staring back at me with tears of joy—the first day of our forever started at that moment.

Chase & JohnstonTaylor
Chase and I met while completing our undergraduate degrees at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I had been trying to find a date for an upcoming formal and asked a friend if she knew of anyone. One day she called me and asked me to walk from my dorm room to the University Library because she needed help with something. It had been a particularly rough day, so I was in my biggest t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants, not a trace of makeup on my face, and my hair in a messy bun. When I got to the library, my friend introduced me to Chase, and I must have made an impression because he still asked me on a date. We started dating in March of 2017 and have been best friends ever since. I started pharmacy school in 2019 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Chase started physical therapy school in 2020 at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, which started our long-distance period. It has been hard, to say the least, but we both had goals that we wanted to attain, and we believe we are stronger due to that. We will graduate in May of 2023 and are moving to Montana to begin our new adventure.
Chase proposed on February 29, 2020. We went to tour the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens with his family. Chase mentioned that he wanted to take a picture on this bridge connected to the koi pond. This tour was when everyone realized how oblivious I was because I had my finger in the pond, trying to see if the fish would confuse it for a worm and bite my finger. When I got up for the picture, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was already crying, but when he stood back up, he turned me around to see my mom, dad, and sister standing with his family, and I lost it. It was a perfect day.

April 16, 2022
It was special because.. We rented an antebellum-style mansion the morning of our wedding, where we invited the immediate family and wedding party for a breakfast before the wedding. I was so anxious that day that we broke tradition and saw each other before the ceremony. Those few hours were relaxing, and everyone had such a good time. That was definitely a treasured memory.
In 2020, I (Annie) had just moved to Colorado looking for a fresh start in the idle of the pandemic. Justin had finished graduate school and moved from El Paso to Denver in 2019 to work for a Denver-based aerospace company. Because of COVID, both of us were having a hard time meeting people and downloaded Hinge. I wasn’t “looking for anything serious,” but after four dates, we were officially dating and were engaged eight months later. We had our wedding in Texarkana, Arkansas, close to Justin’s family.
Once we were at the venue, the staff at Garrison Gardens were all helpful and friendly. It helped calm my nerves. Everyone kept expecting me, the bride, to know what was going on, but I was so stressed that I told them just to ask the onsite wedding coordinator, which helped the day go so smoothly. We also loved the location, which was a wooded garden at the peak of spring. It drizzled right before the ceremony, which we took as a sign of good luck!

It’s time to take charge of your relationship with your healthcare provider in a way that places you squarely on the same team rather than on the sidelines. No healthcare provider, no matter how knowledgeable, has the understanding you have about your own body.
Your ability to express your symptoms and your medical concerns will get you the care you deserve and the treatment you need. Take control, stat Your doctor is an expert, but why not take some time to do your own research about a medical issue you’re experiencing before heading to an appointment?
Remember that you’re the boss. You have the right to respectful and considerate treatment, just as you have the right to ask questions and receive meaningful responses. You have the right to a healthcare professional who will listen to you and take time to understand what’s going on. And you also have the right to ask for a second medical opinion and, if necessary, to change physicians to ensure you’re receiving the care you need.

Your access to reputable websites, like those maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the Mayo Clinic, can provide you with helpful information so you know what to ask your doctor. Just be sure to avoid misinformation; rely instead on websites
run by reputable, major hospitals, healthcare organizations and government agencies. Afterward, research any recommended procedures and prescriptions as well as costs through your state’s department of insurance and your insurance company’s website.
Get off the sidelines when it comes to protecting your greatest asset: your health.
If you’ve ever switched doctors or seen a specialist, you know that transferring your records can be a hassle. But, with electronic health records becoming the norm, it’s easier than ever to both obtain and then digitally maintain your own copies. By creating a personal healthcare file that tracks your medical history, you can advocate for yourself without worry of forgetting anything – an important consideration if you’re nervous and distracted during an appointment, or are not able to tell your medical provider yourself.
When faced with a health issue, we turn to our doctor and other healthcare specialists for information, support and a positive resolution. But when you head to an appointment, do you go armed with research gleaned from reputable sources? Are you prepared to ask questions and voice your concerns if something doesn’t seem right?

I read the book Elvis and Me, written by Priscilla Presley. He was the love of her life, and I don’t think they ever fell out of love. It was difficult for her to watch him become dependent on the drugs, and maybe deep inside, she thought leaving would be a wake-up call for him.
Suzie SnippeTKTS
If you get a chance to see it on the big screen, I would strongly suggest you do so, especially if you are an Elvis fan. There is some coarse language, but we tend to forget that he was human.
At thirteen, I listened to Elvis Presley’s music and was smitten.
I saw his first movie, Love Me Tender, over forty times. The premiere was in 1956 on Thursday before Thanksgiving, and I was first in line. In the old days, you could sit and watch it over and over. My girlfriend and I saw it continuously during the first weekend showing. Through the school holidays, we went every day from eleven in the morning to eleven at night, Wednesday to Sunday. I knew his lines better than he did.
By: Suzie Tyler Elvis, The Movie Have you seen the movie “Elvis”? I’ve seen it four times and will see it again when I get the opportunity.
Overall, I would rate the movie ten stars, but I may be slightly prejudiced. It was reported that Lisa Marie loved the movie.
*Some information for this article was taken from the book, Growing Up In The Fifties, available on FollowAmazon.me on Amazon, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Looking back at the delivery of his line, “Vance, they thought you were dead,” he rubbed his eyes in a fake manner and was not a great actor, but we did not care. It was worth it to just watch him sing on the big screen! We didn’t even mind that he died at the end of the movie because it was not real, and he did “die well.” It was an hour and twenty-nine minutes of pure bliss for a fourteen-year-old.
I think the consensus of those walking out of the theater of this new movie was anger at Colonel Tom Parker for the unethical manner he treated Elvis. We had read about how the Colonel took advantage of him, but not to the extent of his behavior. Remember, back then we didn’t have the media communications that we have now. I think most of the movie viewers had genuine compassion for Elvis and what he endured. His fame came at an enormous price that took his life too early.

Suffice it to say I found out just how mortal I really am.
This year Debbie and I went back to Montana. We stayed at another place down the road from where we normally stay called Hubbard’s Lodge. We booked through Orvis and had a pretty good time, except for the flight problems going and coming, and the Yellowstone Valley Grill’s not so great food. (It was outstanding, but not now. We had eaten there 5 years ago and loved it, however, the new chef was not quite like the old one.) I fished and Debbie did whatever Debbie does while I’m fishing. This trip, I had a guide, James Mugele, whose nickname is Jesus. (Mainly because of the long hair and bearded look.) He took me to where I needed to be in order to catch some Yellowstone Cutthroat trout and enjoy the outdoors, We did small stream fishing in bear country and had a blast. One day, we went into the park and had a tiring, but great day.
